  1. Correct me if I am wrong but this restriction is only based on the restriction in funding for FY 2012. After that it may not apply. I dont know if this will need to be renewed yearly. Also you need to read the fine details for the restriction. Here is what I found with a google search. SEC. 541. None of the funds made available by this Act may be used to pay the salaries or expenses of personnel to deny, or fail to act on, an application for the importation of any model of shotgun if– (1) all other requirements of law with respect to the proposed importation are met; and (2) no application for the importation of such model of shotgun, in the same configuration, had been denied by the Attorney General prior to January 1, 2011, on the basis that the shotgun was not particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes it is my understanding that if a shotgun was denied importation prior to Jan 1, 2011 it will still not be allowed to imported now regardless of sporting status. So this probably means they cant ban a Saiga S12 or Benelli M4 as they have been previously approved. However, they will be only be able to be imported in the configuration that was previously approved. I dont think it means you can add whatever you want to those models and import freely as 922r still applies. The way around this would be to have new models approved with all the features already installed but I dont think this is going to happen.
  2. OK modify and play at you own risk. The regulations are confusing. Add as many non sporting features like threading the muzzle and adding a flash hider as you like. I personally would not take the risk. Like I said if you dont care or think 922r does not apply you can do what you like.
  3. Be careful with this. It probably isnt 922r compliant. This is the same reason you should not use this stock on a super nova without swapping parts for USA parts. Currently there are not enough USA parts to use on a super nova to make it 922r compliant with this stock. If you dont care you can disregard this advice.
  4. The rails will work. However, they will not co-wittness with the ghost ring sights if that is what you need.
  5. The Burris speed bead will not work on the Benelli Nova as it has a one piece stock/receiver combination. I was able to fit the speed bead to a pistol grip rifle stock on the Super Nova but it had to be fitted. This involved grinding the stock.
  6. I have the supernova version. Works well in bright sun. It does not work well in cloudy conditions. The fiber optic is also fragile.
  7. In that case why not just design a stock to fit the rod. It already has notches on it for the Benelli tele stock. In fact why not just by the telestock from Benelli ?
  8. It would be great to have a US made telestock. However, even with a US stock it wont be 922r compliant. How will you get around that ? As soon as you put on a non sporting feature 922r applies. From what I understand it does not matter if it is a pump vs. semi-auto for 922r compliance. You might want to clear this with the BATF before putting a lot of money into this project.
  9. You have to pull and twist a bit to get it off. It is held in by ridges on the inside of the stock.
  10. Even if you had a USA made collapsible stock (which does not exist) you still can't get around 922r by itself. You still need more US parts.

I would get one if you could easily add a pistol grip telescoping stock and flash hider.
  12. It does not work well shooting off the Left shoulder.
  13. I have one for the supernova. It is not as bright as I thought it would be.
  14. Ratworx has them. I decided not to pursue this due to 922r issues.
  15. I have a super nova. I like it better then the Nova. I had my first part break on it last wk. The firing pin retaining pin head sheared off. I dont care for the design of a rubber gasket holding the pin in. I dont have a Stoeger.
  16. Here are the Pics. Looks good. If it becomes a reality I would buy one. First versions: Updated Version: Thanks JoshR for doing this.
  17. Does anyone make a magazine cap light mount ?
  18. Interesting idea. I am curious as to how it would look and feel. There would be a gap between the back of the trigger guard and the PG. It would also increase the distance to reach the trigger and safety. If you make it too long you might not be able to screw the rear stock back on to the rifle. I would prefer one without a sling attachment.
  19. Looks like the ATF is getting ready to ban some styles of shotguns.
  20. Nice rifle. I was thinking of adding one to my collection but the factory stock was way too long. Any 922r concerns ? A flash hider would be great but you need to be careful what you put on it. Not sure the folding/tele stock is ok either.
  21. I still am hesitant to go by what is said on a phone conversation. I would get it in writing. However I suspect if you sent a letter they will reverse themselves. In letters they tend to rule against you in my opinion. Heres is an old letter posted on another forum in 2004 after the AWB expired in regard to a similar situation: http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=207254 I guess these arguments will go on forever. I should have done a more complete google search before posting this question. I have an answer now that I am not happy about but that is how it goes. I guess you buy the parts you want, install them and hope your interpretation of the regulations are correct. I now feel that using these parts is questionable and wont use them until I can satisfy 922®.
  22. I think 922® will also apply if you start to mess with the stock and make it "non sporting". If you can put together a kit with the stock and the necessary US parts you might be ok.
  23. This is off the BATF webpage in regard to making a firearms from sources like "Shotgun News" or the internet. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/firearms-technology.html#commercial-parts-assembly Here is a quote off that page that has been repeated many times: "the GCA, 18 U.S.C. § 922®, specifically states the following: It shall be unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation under the…[GCA]…Section 925(d)(3).as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes..." They further state: "As a result of a 1989 study by the U.S. Treasury Department regarding the importability of certain firearms, an import ban was placed on military-style firearms. This ban included not only military-type firearms, but also extended to firearms with certain features that were considered to be “nonsporting.” Among such nonsporting features were the ability to accept a detachable magazine; folding/telescoping stocks ; separate pistol grips; and the ability to accept a bayonet, flash suppressors,..." On another ATF page I also found that a foreign shotgun that takes more than 5 rounds in its magazine is also considered non sporting and restriced from importation. I would be careful with using an extended tube magazine regardless of whether its made in USA or not. It appears the supernova was imported as a "sporting shotgun". I doubt Benelli would sell it if there were any questions from the BATF. As far as I know it is made in Italy with no US parts. If you start to modify it to make it non sporting then the parts count of 922® comes in to play. From my limited understanding of gun parts I can count 13 or 14 parts that count under 922®. So to get around this you need to replace 3 or 4 parts which due to the lack of US substitute parts is nearly impossible. Some will say ignore 922® you will never be prosecuted. I am not willing to take this risk.
