  1. okay guys... im back again with another question. about chokes...

Well my beloved jellyhead choke is starting to wear down and ive been wanting a new one for quite some time. I got to thinking about it and i figured i might ask all of you which turkey choke i should buy for next years season. I am shooting a 28" Barreled supernova and i hope to get some good patterns out of federal, winchester, or hevi. Any suggestions guys! I would really like a pertruding choke if possible.

How is it wearing down? And how can you tell? Is it patterning different? How many rounds have you shot though it? Isn't there a warranty on the tube?

  2. Actual pictures and proof of ownership available to serious buyers.

Not hard to prove that I'm not a thief, robber, or otherwise.

It's pricks like you that make this one of the worst forums on the internet. Again, if you don't have any interest, keep your opinions to yourself. You don't have a dog in the race. Go get a life, dude.

Your going to take pictures of yourself to prove your not a thief, robber, of otherwise. Wow, I don't think I want to see.

  3. First, welcome to the forum.

Everything sounds normal exept the extractor not grabbing the shell. My nova's extract about 1/2 from the rear of the firearm. Try firing with spent hulls or snap caps to get a better look at what is going on.

  4. If you shot someone with a slug, I wouldn't see the point in buying any of thoughs slugs. If a good old fashion 400 grain chunk of lead won't stop someone, I don't think anything will.

  5. Wow, that just gave me a flashback like crazy ... Jamie from sophomore year biology class ... was an "ex" stripper with lots of tattoos, and she liked me, and my video camera.

It's not true unless you post it. :)

  6. I have had my supernova for about 2 months and have fired about 150 rounds out of it.

Out of the first 100 rounds i had two rounds that failed to fire and there was a light firing pin mark on the shell.

Today I went out and shot 50 and probably had about 10 of these.

I have read a thread from about a year ago and it seems like this is a pretty common problem with novas and supernovas and the following reasons as to why have been given.

    1. Too much lube

    2. Too little lube

    3. Firing pin spring is too tight

    4. Firing pin spring is too loose

    5. There is a little play in the forend after the action is closed and locked.

There was no conclusion given as to what to do to fix this problem. #3 seems like the most likely problem to me but I am by no means an expert. Please weigh-in with yourthoughts.

    have you cleaned the gun?

Have you removed the firing pin and looked at the pin and spring?

  7. I just purchased the Benelli Supernova in MAX 4 and can not wait to get it out for some ducks. This is my very first gun and was wondering if there needs to be any cleaning done before the first time that I go out with it. If so, any links to step by step instructions would be great.

    Take care.

Any new gun needs to be cleaned before taken out and shot. The manual makes it easy to figure out.

  8. DAMIT NOVACAINE!! quit reminding me its raining here and i cant shoot my new toy till the weather changes a bit!!! cause indoor ranges suck!!

Quick your crying. Whats a little rain. Your not sweet enough to melt. Its snowing here. Had the Benelli out today.

Wait, whats that smell. I'm starting to smell safe queen.

  9. You have a smoothbore barrel. All 12 gauge shell you can use in the nova. Some shell will not pattern or group as good as others. You will have to hit the patterning board and range to see which shells fit you nova the best.

Congrats on your purchase. You've bought a great firearm.

  10. So are you going to shoot it? See what these safe queen guy don't is that if you have a gun that's 1 of 500 and you don't shoot it, it's 1 of 500. If you shoot a limited gun then it become more rare. Maybe only 1 of 10. ;)

Shoot it! Whatever you do, don't listen to the voice of 1014. He will draw you in. Then instead of shooting your guns, you will be just wiping them down. :)

  11. NO I didn't use pliers... I used the magazine tube cap.. that's what the instructions say to use...

The pin was sticking out half way.. I tried for 10 mins to get it out... it woudn't come out.. so I pulled it out with pliers

Either way, it SHOULDN'T be that difficult to take out..

Is this the first time you've taken the gun apart? Or is this a first time cleaning.

  12. 800 miles of flooded shoreline, courtesy of the Noreaster a few weeks ago, is making it difficult to find them.

When you do find them, it can be productive!

Scout, scout, let it all out!

Hope your not counting the one on the right? It looks like it was already a floater.

  13. Hi guys,

For those of you following my posts, you'd know that I just bought a Nova Pump. I believe the trigger guard is defected and I am pretty peeved b/c I've chipped my camo on my Max 4 while trying to dislodge the pin. I've cleaned the gun twice, each time removing the trigger assembly as per instruction. It seems like the pin cannot get through hole w/o an incredible amount of force applied on my part. Now before people suggest that I've put the wrong pin into the wrong hole, I double a d triple checked it. It is the correct hole (the pin hole closer to the barrel) The pin/hole behind the trigger is fine.

Anyhow, the camo paint is now chipped (1/4 inch) and it will only get worse every time I clean it...which is frequently. Additionally, the pin head is badly scuffed... I had to force it out with a set of pliers.. either that or leave the gun filthy (it rained during yesterdays hunt and I got the gun pretty dirty trudging through thick woods.)

Needless to say, I am more than pissed about this - it's my first gun and I spent a lot of money on it... I take pride in the things I own, especially when they're supposed to be high quality...

I want this repaired and if it means a new gun so be it.. but the camo paint is just gonna get worse and those pins are gonna be shot in a year from now..

    any suggestions?

    thnks

What did you use when you tried to get the pin out?

  14. I called Benelli. They say it is operating correctly and this is a safety feature.

When you load the shells in the tube, the flap/elevator should stay up.

If you try to cycle the pump without first firing the gun, the shell will eject from the bottom.

However, the flap should go down and the shells should cycle to the chamber if the gun has been fired.

I won't be able to test in advance. So, we'll take an extra shotgun along.

    Thanks all for your assistance.

Benelli told you wrong. The flap will stay up when you load a shell in the mag tube. When you cycle the action the flap goes down. It has nothing to do with firing the shotgun.

  15. I have a Benelli Nova that the stock broke while I was goose hunting (Gun jammed and I was trying to pull on the forearm with the butt on my hip and it snapped). I called Benelli and they told me sorry you will just have to buy another gun. I asked them if they would make me a new stock and they said no for what the stock cost your better off to just buy a new gun. I can't believe that for such a "High End" firearms producer that they don't back their products any better then that. My advice, don't buy a Nova or any Benelli for that matter. If they can't back their product any better then that I won't give them another dime. You know the Nova is a cheaper shotgun, but can you imagine spending $1000 on a Super Black Eagle, have something go wrong, and Benelli tells you "sorry for your bad luck, buy a new gun" I mean come on! Its just Sorry. Sincerely, Remington Guy Know.

Nova stock just don't break. I've never heard such a thing. Do you have picture of this stock? May we see it? It sounds like you force it to do something it wasn't supose to do. I have 3 nova's and there tanks. Others on here and other forums will agree.

O well,Good luck with your Remington rust bucket.

  16. I bought a new Benelli Nova last Christmas for my son. It's fired about 3 boxes over the last year. This has almost exclusively been single round shooting at clay targets with shells loaded through the ejection port. So, we really haven't exercised the feeding mechanism.

We're going Pheasant hunting next weekend and I was checking him out to make sure he could operate the gun when we discovered what appears to be a problem with me or the gun.

When I insert one or two shells in the bottom, they hold in the tube just fine. But, when I go to chamber the first round, the first shell springs out the bottom of the magazine.

I can override this behavior by depressing the button on the bottom of the forend as I pump it the first time. But, this is awkward and doesn't seem like the intended operation. It's way more complex than the Model 12 Winchesters I've used for 40+ years.

Has anybody else had this problem or issue with the Nova? Or, what procedure do you follow to load 2 shells + 1 in the chamber without throwing live rounds in the dirt?

    thanks in advance

    - richard

How do you chamber the round after you load 2 in the mag. tube?

There is 2 ways to load the Nova:

    1. Load 2 rounds into the mag. tube.(bolt closed) Cycle the action and bring one round into the chamber.

    2. Open action. put one round into the chamber. Close bolt. Put remaining shells in mag. tube.

If your doing it both ways and it doesn't work, it sounds like a the shell elevator problem.

Try Bolt closed. Load 1 round into the mag. tube. Elevator stays up right? Now, Cycle the action.(load the round into the chamber. Elevator is down now right? If not, there is your problem.

If its not the elevator, it might be the shell stop. But I'm thinking no.

  17. Hey guys I bought a Supernova earlier this season. I'm thinking about getting a rifled slug ba barrel for it and was wondering what slugs work well out of them? Thanks in advance, Duckjunky

Buying a rifled slug barrel will cost you almost as much as a new gun.
