  1. See the SoCal HID Shootout IV thread. A number of lights made the output of the PH50 look anemic by comparison. Here are a few of shots in which the PH50 got served up righteously at 255 yards: Canon SD1000 ISO Setting: 100 Lens Aperture: F2.8 Exposure: 1 Second White Balance: Tungsten Polarion PH50 HyperBlitz (36V-40V)
  2. A la 6 O'Clock sight picture.
  3. Welcome! And please do post comparative photos .
  4. Is is illegal in CA to install the skeletonized stock on an M4 with a pistol grip if the recoil tube assembly allows the stock to retract. Not in CA? Best bet is to review your local and state laws which pertain to shotguns and assault weapons.
  5. The official stance from SureFire is that there are no issues with the M80 which would induce the possibility of an FTF, or melting of the thermoplastic handguard onto the gas piston region. This is supposedly based on their extensive field and controlled environment testing .

    B&T Quadrail

Um...I am well over 1000 lbs. in the big three lifts and practice a number of isometric movements such as the iron cross. Part of my training routine with the M4 includes static holds in a multitude of ready and firing positions. I would have to say that the M4 is not exactly light . That said, I would choose the B&T over the M80 as the official stance from SureFire is that there are no issues with the M80 which would induce the possibility of an FTF, or melting of the thermoplastic handguard onto the gas piston region. This is supposedly based on their extensive field and controlled environment testing .
  7. Are you pushing the bolt forward because the lugs are not fully engaging? Do you happen to be riding the bolt forward with your hand? Always (unless checking for obstructions) allow the recoil spring to do its job by releasing the bolt handle after pulling it rearwards.
  8. Your best bet is to order one from Mann & Son Sporting Goods (CDT) @ 618-357-2911. Last I checked, M4 barrels were going for $650.00.
  9. Benelli will be sending out replacement screws to be torqued to 20 inch-lbs with an application of Loctite 242 .
  10. Around $75 to $100, including standard S&H, depending upon location shipped to. Around $32, including standard S&H, depending upon location shipped to. Briley Flush Black Oxide IC Choke Likely very little unless you are not satisfied with the patterns of the factory IC. However, the finish of the Briley choke is superior to that of the factory tubes. Benelli Full Length Magazine Spring To be used in conjunction with a full length magazine tube, the full length factory spring has greater spring tension than the standard magazine (five rounds) spring. This allows for more reliable cycling down to the last round. Callahan Red Aluminum Follower Increased durability over the factory plastic follower while retaining visual confirmation of an empty magazine.

    M4 Capacity?

Official capacity as stated in most documentation is 5+1 (2-3/4"). Else, 5+1+1 if carrier loaded.
  12. In the event that SureFire is following this thread: Please remove the SureFire emblem from the side of the M80. It is very untacticool.
  13. Perhaps the compartment of a TangoDown, or LaRue FUG.
  14. General rule of thumb is to use the spring with the greatest amount of tension down to the last round. Otherwise, you may opt to go with a Sure Cycle spring. Or you can purchase and use the full length factory spring as I have. Though not stainless, the full length factory spring has greater tension for reliable cycling down to the last round. Another viable option - and one I would choose over the standard factory spring (five shot magazine) - would be a Wolff 40" magazine spring.
  15. Regardless of which stock you install, rotate it one additional turn after its initial contact with the receiver.
  16. Recommending the use of a blunt plastic punch as opposed to the end of the bolt handle to disengage the axle bush from its retaining spring. This will prevent the finish of the receiver from being damaged in the event the bolt handle inadvertently slips from the top of the axle bush. The DPMS TL-PU Delrin Punch works well in this regard: DPMS TL-PU vs. Factory Bolt Handle
  17. LPA appears to have fiber optic ghost ring sight aperture which replaces the factory rear: I will check with Precision Sights (authorized dealer) to verify, else I will buy one to try out for myself ...
  18. Can an available admin, or mod make this happen? Would help oldies and newbies alike ...

The SureShell is the way to go. MT has excellent customer service and will take care of any problems should they arise .
  20. Claw slings are the way to go. Simple, unobtrusive, comfortable and priced right. Although you lose the advantage of a non-marring, silent swivel in the Hush Stalker II, you can always choose to go with another type of sling swivel up front.
  21. Primarily for subject illumination while on night patrol. The Beast and The Beast II are quite a a bit larger and certainly more cumbersome to operate than the PH50. I have only seen beamshots of the HellFire in action. See Polarion PH40 vs. SureFire HellFire. The Beast, The Beast II and HellFire are 35W HID lights driven at 35W. The PH40 is a 35W HID overdriven to 40W. The PH50 is a 35W HID (OSRAM D1S) overdriven to 50W. You will absolutely be enamored with its output. The PH50 will throw as far as one can reasonably discern a target without optics. We will be holding a SoCal HID shootout on May 24th with some of the most powerful production handheld lights commercially available. You guys are welcome to join the fun .
  22. Nice choice. So what is next in terms of mods? You have been around here long enough to know what you want, but here is a short list of recommended mods: Benelli Skeletonized Stock MEPROLIGHT Tritium Sight Set Briley Flush Black Oxide IC Choke Mesa Tactical SureShell 6-Shot Carrier SOCOMguy Full Length Magazine Tube Benelli Full Length Magazine Spring Callahan Red Aluminum Follower
  23. Before you send it back, verify that your bolt rails, lugs and extractor are properly lubricated .
  24. I have never plinked with one, but it looks like a fun firearm .
  25. Depends on who did the porting (remains factory, or modified), how it was done (if modified) and the type and condition of the existing finish. I would not say that there is special interest in the barrel, but buyers for it do exist. If I wanted one and if the porting was factory and the finish were parkerized Molykote, I would be inclined to pay no more than $350.00 maximum. But that is me .
