  1. I think probably that I wonder about the real-world benefit of a 20" vs. a 24" barrel...moreso than someone butchering your barrel. That's really the main thing...sometimes folks solve nonexistent problems and I just wondered if you'd really thought this through. It's your gun though, and whatever you do is up to you. I imagine it'll be fine either way. Good luck.
  2. Are you sure that you want to do this for a HD shotgun? Seems like a lot of trouble to lose 4 inches...and stuff can go wrong with things like cutting back the rib...just food for thought.

Are the chokes Benelli OEM? If so, send them both to me with the tube and I'll send you $50 cash.

USPS MO going out on Monday.
  5. Come to think of it, I wouldn't want to be below anyone trying that! But seriously, the M4 is made to take abuse and one the last free pleasures in life is using a gun hard, just as it's designed to be used, and enjoying every minute of it. BTW, one of the very best ways to really learn to enjoy your gun is to take a class with it. By the time you're done it'll have a few scratches but you will have the experience of a lifetime...and you'll know how to use your gun well. My signature ('I like my pistol but I LOVE my shotgun!) came from an instructor at Gunsite. I liked that class so much I took another one at Blackwater. What a great time.

Commando I don't need to wait. Tell me where to send your $300 and how you'd like me to send it. If you want immediate payment, I'll send paypal and add 3% to cover your PP fees ($9.00 for a total of $309.00). Or if you prefer the slower way, I'll send a USPS MO for $300. Your choice. Let me know: [email protected] Thanks. I'm ready to go now, PM me and we'll do business.
  7. Sneaker's right. You might want to PM the guy on gunbroker and tell him that if he can't sell it there that you'll pay $300. Good luck to you.
  8. How about because folks just want one? Why buy a Rolex when a $7.00 rubber watch from Wally world tells better time? Why buy a Camry when a Cavalier will get you from Point A to Point B? Why buy a Benelli when with practice you can do just as well with an 870? What I don't get is calling people fools for making choices that are their business and their business alone.
  9. One of the things I like most about the M4 is that it's built like a tank...kind of like the AK47 but better. Could probably drop the bolt off the empire state building and it would still work.
  10. Hey great news! Finally found an OEM +2 tube! Nice seller too.
  11. Sneaker, I finally found an OEM +2 tube, so this information is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Greg
  12. I don't get the need to comment on someone else's post. If you don't like the product or the price, why not just ignore it? Is there like a price police patrol here? Good grief. Give it a rest already. This is the ONLY gun forum that I participate in where I see this on a routine basis.
  13. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong and integrity demands that I admit it. Have a good day.
  14. If I could get an M4 with a bead sight or a rifle sight, I would. I've found that GR sights are actually a hindrance to me at close range, helpful only when shooting slugs at 50 yards out. What are your thoughts?
  15. Nice. But do you find that the sling gets in the way more than it is useful? I only sling the gun if I'm taking a class. Otherwise as a HD weapon the sling just seems to get in my way.
  16. SOCOM, thank you for the feedback and ideas. Yes, I would much rather have a full tube and I imagine that's the direction I'm eventually going to go. Have a great week.

  18. I loved Duggan's picture: Think this guy has an extra mod or two that he probably won't ever need?
  19. Yeah I know it's an 870, but here's the bayonet lug for the M4. Would this really be considered a functional accessory?
  20. Here are a few examples of what I would consider useless mods: A breaching standoff? A bayonet?
  21. Mike, I was thinking about your question about the definition of functional vs. non-functional...cosmetic changes might be a good place to start. Nothing wrong with cosmetic changes per se if that's your thing...it's your gun after all...but I can't think of a cosmetic change that would be functional other than the camo finish if you're patrolling in the desert.
  22. ER, I had an M4 with a collapsible stock at one time because I got it at a terrific price. The adjustments on it were too lengthy to make it useful in the sense of making it fit better...IOW, the first step down didn't shorten it a little, it shortened it a lot. I can understand wanting to improve the LOP by shortening the stock a little for folks with shorter arms, but the collapsible stock just wasn't useful in that way. Can you think of any common mods that you run across that you might consider non-functional?
  23. ...I'd add collapsible stock to the list, unless you're going to shoot with a vest or fast rope from a helicopter with it. The collapsible stock is tacticool but serves no functional purpose for the average guy. It's just one more moveable part to break.
  24. Mike, functional improvements can certainly mean different things to different people, no doubt about it. I think we can agree though that some things aren't functional improvements, can't we? Let me try one extreme example just to start things off...how about desert camo on a weapon that will never be within 1,000 miles of a desert? What about you - can you give some examples of non-functional improvements (an oxymoron, but you know what I mean)? Surely you can think of a few...it's kind of like pornography - hard to define but you know it when you see it.
