Interesting! Good for those times when there are a lot of zombies...
-
Just a word of caution. Don't go shooting every zombie you see tonight, some of them might be trick or treaters! So use discretion!
Hey... If you dress like a zombie you take your chances...

Lookin' good Krecon, what choices are you kicking around for your light?

Hi Super....Is this the short rail top rail replacement or the full rail system that the issue is with? I'm guessing the short rail but I'm still surprised considering the quality of their products. I'm sure they'll make it right for you.

Thanks IW... maybe I'll try some practice runs on some old parts that have some stamped lettering and perfect my technique before I tackle the M1A

Do you use the lacquer sticks or paint? I've been thinking about doing the rear sights on my M1As to make them easier to read.

Hey Phil....When do we get a pic of your M4 project?
-
Yeah, that's the one I'm using and it works fine. The Brownells stock # in that answer brings up a Benelli manufactured follower and therefore not a compliance part which is why I chose the Brownells (made in USA) follower.
Also...yes, I'm still using the Surefire M80 forend but plan to switch back to stock grips after I get a Mesa Urbino stock and use it as my 3rd compliance part.

maybe I need to borrow or buy a heat gun. not usre a hair dryer would work ?
hey saym14,
A hairdryer won't help you, not enough heat. You can find heatguns fairly cheap and make life much easier. My tube removal wasn't too bad, about 10-15 minutes of heating before I got it to turn a little and then it was heat a little/turn a little for a while until about one third out and then I unscrewed it the rest of the way in one shot. Most of the threadlocker stayed on the old tube threads and the receiver threads were pretty much clean and ready to go.

I was actually thinking they were in "Dumbasscuss".
You got it right KB, I stand corrected....

Looks like a typical day at the range in South America....

Hi HDS and welcome to the forum,
Just so you know, there is a standard (non pistol grip) stock for the M4. It takes a little searching to track one down but they can be found.

If any of you are thinking about the battery model, you might wish to hold-off. Trijicon is releasing a new model with adjustable illumination at the AUSA Army equipment show here in DC the week of 25 Oct.
Thanks for the heads-up BigHat!
I'll be looking forward to checking out the new model

Hey 2WH,
That looks sweet. I was thinking of getting the powered version. I'll be looking forward to your review of the fiber/tritium model in bright daylight conditions as well as your post-range trip thoughts.
BTW...I love the AD locking system, I have it on a TangoDown VFG, rock solid!

Thanks 2-wheel, I'll most certainly look at Vortex.
Hookster: What do you like best (and why) : your EOtech or the RMR?
Hey RR,
I don't have a RMR but I have played hands on with one and think it would make a great CQB shotgun optic. I like the EO Tech for the carbine application with it's smaller MOA dot, it's a bit more precise and I like being able to use the magnifier with it. I've also been considering getting an Aimpoint T1 or H1 with a magnifier at some point too for my other AR. I have an Aimpoint ML3 on a Socom 16 and am very happy with it.
here it is on the M4:
