  1. Hi FLAWLS1!

I was wondering if you thought that laying a strip of electical tape to the tongue half of the forend and then trimming the excess would thicken the tongue up enough to eliminate the shifting between the tongue and groove. I know people have had a wide range of how significant this problem manifests itself. The level it's at in the video that TKTM posted would be unacceptable to me. I'm still looking at these in case I opt for some kind of "rail segment mounted to forend" type of set up for light mounting without drilling my factory grips.

    Thanks,

  2. Wow SD!!! Thanks for all your good efforts on this one... I was actually planning to install my GG&G pad this weekend so your timing with this thread is excellent. I think I'll pick up the roll pin holder and starter punch. I just have a regular punch set and I always get a little nervous dealing with roll pins. Nothing like the right tools for the job to make sure all goes well.

    Thanks and Take Care,

  3. Hey FLAWLS1!!

    Congrats on the 2nd baby!!!

There have been some variations in the finish of M4s that I've seen. There were some forum members bringing this up a couple years back. Many reported a slightly more flat greyish finish with almost a slight greenish tint to it. Around the time of these reports I saw an M4 at my local shop that had this finish, it was definitely a few shades different than the black finish on mine but I thought it still looked good. I have no idea if this was an intentional change to the finish or just the opposite end of the scale of what Benelli would consider the normal finish

On another note... I plan to be at the Cow Palace Gun Show this Sat at opening time, if you're going and want to meet up and say hi just send me a PM

  4. I have a Benelli super nova and i use it for all different types of hunting. However i would like to find some after market parts such as tactical barrel, pistol grip stock, tube extension, etc. Does anyone know of a good website to get these parts?

Also check out Numrich and Brownells....:)

  5. I want to get a new home defense shotgun.

Which of the Benelli's is best the M-2 or the M-4?

Other than price what is the difference?

Also I might sell my M121-m1, any idea what it is worth?

Hey Zardoz!!!! Welcome to the forum!!.... Like Zardoz said in the movie "The gun is good"... The main difference between the two is the operating system, the M2 is inertia operated and the M4 is gas (the ARGO system)...both are excellent weapons but if you plan on hanging alot of extras on the weapon (tac lights, side saddles etc) you'd probably be better off with the M4, The M2's inertia system has more of a chance of issues as you add weight to it

  6. Yeah I see they have something for my HK USP 45 w/x300 combo too but they specify the GG&G adapter... I have the Surefire adapter at the moment...It's funny the Safariland holster offering for my combo also list it for the GG&G adapter also...

Recently picked up a Blackhawk SERPA CQC for my Glock 21sf...pretty happy with it so far

  7. Hey Jackalope! I'm looking forward to the range test review! We've really never discussed this particular mod around here too much. I have a GG&G pad but haven't got around to installing it yet..If you have a chance at some point, I'd like to see a pic from the side showing the edge where it would show the fit to the flat side of the receiver. Does it seem like it's going to wear the receiver's finish in the area it covers?

    Thanks,

    Hookster:)

  8. Hey Case!

As far as I know they expect to be ready to ship anytime! The free shipping offer I signed up for is good until the 21st so I would expect it would be before that! I haven't seen pics of the new design but Scott indicated that the sling mount was going

to be integrated as opposed to an additional add on. I'm supposed to get an email notification as soon as they are available and I will post a notice in this thread. Pics as soon as I have one in hand!!!

  9. The Sidearmor stuff looks first rate, but the pricing for a rail, then a sidesaddle to finish it off seems a bit steep. You say a ball bearing retention? Is there a photo I can see that feature?

I remember that loose screw issue Hookster. As I recall, Mesa had some screw problems from their vendor... so much so that they switched vendors and made exact copies of the genuine Benelli screws and taper washers. The rail/saddle I bought was just after they received their first batch of new screws.

The most important things are to make sure the screws go flush or slightly less (like .003"-.005") than the inside of the receiver... and even with the lock washers, use blue loc-tite.

    Hey Creeper,

Yeah Sidearmor stuff is very well made! If you go to the link I posted and scroll down to the group of smaller pics, the upper right one gives you a little glimpse of the ball bearing detents (click on it for enlarged view)... I have the 4 shell holder that I got with my Mod 1 rail system out in my storage and if you'd like more detailed pics I could get it out tomorrow and snap a few.

I'm glad you have better recall of the screw issue than I...I didn't want to scare Dharmabum out of going with the Mesa but it seemed like stuff I'd want to consider when making a choice.

  10. The Sidearmor system offers a pretty slick spring loaded ball bearing retention system that I like:

FYI..I recall a thread a few years back... IIRC someone posted that they had a Mesa side saddle come off while being fired and it had stripped the receiver holes. I did a quick search trying to find the thread for you but I didn't see it. It's the only report like that that I recall and I'm sure it could have been an issue of the mounting screws being loose causing additional stress on the threads during cycling or even a case of them being over-torqued from the get-go and damaging the threads. I'm always extra cautious when dealing with those threads in a relatively thin section of the aluminum receiver

  11. I'm pretty sure these are the same as the OEM and would have been easier to install than the hammer...FWIW: http://freedomfightertactical.com/products-page/922r-compliant-forends/

I did get a card in the mail yesterday telling me to go down to the post office and sign for mine, so I'll let you know just how similar they are soon....

Some people have had no issues with those and others have reported and posted video of fit issues, squeaking and popping from them, If I ended up with the later my OCD wouldn't like it... :-)
