  1. Zeke, Those shots were done up in photoshop. I haven't even mailed the parts off yet.
  2. The rarely seen naked M4 receiver.
  3. Here is a mock up in photoshop I did. If you're doing just Cerakote, you could probably have the whole thing done for like 300 bucks. However, since I'm having the internals Nickel Boron coated, that'll add more. For the M4, I expect I'll be laying out 450 dollars with shipping.
  4. For an example of the color I'm going with:
  5. Hi all, After 12,000 rounds, I figure it's about time to refresh my M4. I've been kicking around what to do with the M4 for a year or more now. I've finally determined to strip the weapon completely down, and send the following components to WMD Guns to be coated in Nickel Boron; 1. Receiver 2. Receiver Extension 3. Trigger Housing 4. Bolt Carrier 5. Shell Stop Lever 6. carriercomp Follower 7. Elevator 8. Hammer Spring Cap 9. Pistons 10. Trigger Pin Bushing 11. Carrier Drop Lever 12. Carrier Spring Plunger 13. Carrier Dog Then the following parts are going to be top coated in Burnt Bronze Cerakote; 1. Exterior of the Receiver 2. Exterior of the Receiver Extension 3. Visible portion of the Barrel Assembly 4. Exterior of the carriercomp Titanium Magazine Tube 5. Visible portion of the Trigger Housing 6. The BLAM4 Mount 7. The Aluminum portion of the Collapsible Stock The following parts are going to be top coated in black; 1. The visible portion of the Bolt Carrier 2. The visible portion of the Shell Elevator Basically, I'm going for a two-toned black and dark brown finish with the added benefit of having all the internals Nickel Boron coated. This will aid in cleaning, reliability and maybe even speed up the action a little. I am not coating the hammer, disconnector or trigger since I don't want to mess with the sear engagement points. I spent the afternoon disassembling the weapon. Tearing the receiver apart is troublesome, but not impossible. I had never taken the rear sight housing off before, it was pretty easy. The receiver extension is certainly the toughest part to remove. I'm also doing a couple AR15's at the same time, including my 9mm pistol AR15 in the same color scheme. I imagine this will take 6 - 8 weeks to get my parts back. Place holder for what it currently looks like:
  6. I've tried the Hexolite32's as well. They're usually what I carry in my M4 at home and when I'm out in the desert. They they are very destructive rounds. The steel slugs do a number on steel targets. I shot one of those throw away helium tanks, and it pretty much folded the tank in half and ripped out the back. Recoil was pretty mild in my opinion, similar to cheap 2 3/4" buckshot. The height of the brass is deceiving. When I first looked at them, I figured they'd try to dislocate my shoulder. I shot a car door of an older 50's or 60's truck, and the slug went right through. These older model vehicles had a lot more steel than the current production cars. There are some videos where they inspected the would channels on bears. They were pretty devastating on meaty targets. Probably a good round for hunting some of the smaller dinosaurs.
  7. Good to hear that Benelli took care of you.
  8. We need to get more companies on board with giving the middle finger to State and even the Federal Government. If they impose laws on the local populations, the companies should apply the same laws to the Government and refuse their purchase requests. LaRue has taken the initiative on this as of Friday. All companies should be encouraged to escape these oppressive fascist dictatorships. Everyone should do their part to boycott these States. Don't give them your tourism dollars. Don't contribute to their tax base. Starve these scumbags out.
  9. I'm jealous! Love those 14" barrels.
  10. Thanks! I took some better photos in natural light this afternoon.
  11. Had some free time last night. My OCD kicked in and told me to clean up the cosmetics of the handguard some. So I applied another layer of epoxy, then sanded it down some to even it out. I then added a few layers of Plastic Dip. Overall, it looks significantly better and there are even fewer sharp edges. It's still fugly, but I'll live.
  12. Will do. That's my main interest myself. Or possibly sourcing some Benelli factory parts and putting them into the Promag unit. Mainly the plunger lock setup and the cheek riser.
  13. I bought a Promag stock so I can compare it to the real deal ones today. I'll take some decent pictures comparing them when it arrives. My collapsible stock lives in the middle position since that's the ideal cheek weld height for using the Aimpoint. Using the iron sights and the middle position is a little uncomfortable to me. Not a fan of the Urbino attachment method, but it offers a good cheek weld with a similar LOP as the middle collapsible stock position.
  14. Probably drop ship right from Promag with a receipt for 179 bones.
  15. Hey, it's easy to mix up a 270 pound black man for a 70 year old Latina. "SOB reached for something right after I asked them for their license and registration." i can see California from my window. I give it the one finger salute every day.
  16. Just waiting on my IWC order to come in to finish this unit up.
