This post was a catalyst for thinking things through. For all of you that are still young enjoy the idea of a bug out bag and camping in the tetons. I think unless you live there you won't get there. People will form road blocks on all interstate and roads leading out of towns and cities and take your stuff before you get anywhere even if you had gas which you won't in a shtf deal. - handguns - a must need with big mags - shotguns wonderful ( see movie (straw dogs) for defending a home (plus a bear trap) - rifle - if you going to shoot your food makes sense - not good for when the zombie are storming your home unless you have many mags and other family members defending all possible entry points - thinking zombies as in rioting crowds - everything will be fine until they throw gas bombs at you house - all this has led me into buying a ar type pistol round 45 ar and a good old lever 357 - interchangable with handgun ammo - As we see from the show walking dead and movie The Road - ammo is a big deal - the problem is meeting up with groups who are working together to take you out.. I am sorry but there is no way around it - Hungry people will do anything to eat - the movie The trigger effect was based on a real theme that psychologists studied that said society with no power or resources will break down within 72 hours - once the rodney king verdict was read how long did it take for parts of LA to collapse - and OJ walked free just for that reason they didn't want a repeat. Thats my take on things - use long big ace bandages to strap as many hand guns as you can to your person and carry two light weight rifles - you might have to put them down when you go in the kitchen or bathroom. lol

Since I got the M4 and everything is paid for and I am just waiting on the full tube from kip to put it all back together I should just stop and be happy and not be thinking about other shotguns since it seems I got the best available (besides what ever new ones they are thinking up for the military).

one local - just saw it today - $980 seems to be right at book price but felt top heavy to me. Any comments from those that have shot it compared to M4?

I want one - anyone else OWN one - any problems with it? Just the fact that you can have that many rounds ready to go at that price would be well worth it (if the thing works) considering how much I have gone through (as we all have) just to get something that spits out seven and there you are if you haven't hit anything - lol - your big cheesy face hanging out and no more rounds to fire.. (okay that's a generalization). Lets get someone who owns one say something. POST SCRIPT: Never mind I guess no one owns one since they have not been released yet - sometime in third quarter of 2011. Negative feedback that trigger does not reset if you hold it down while pumping company says this is only in the demo and the released versions will not do this... Demo video of take down makes it look very uncomplicated.

ya I just read that the military canceled their contract for scar rifles. So the ftf issue must have been widespread in what rifles they were using. so I leave it to those of you who know way more than I do about the subject. What ar15 would be the best bet? I know the military is using the colt but I have also read there are ftf problems with it also and they are told to just keep it wet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_SCAR I won't provide the link out of respect to benelli forum but you can check prices at impact guns for these little workhorses. if you going to go all in on this concept of shtf - why not use what the military is using since its been tested. side arms are not carried by anyone in war but officers and squad leaders etc and clerks and back up type people behind the lines - thus experience would suggest they are not worth the bother in a true survival type world. and shotguns are just too heavy to haul for anyone young or anyone old.

I think it all comes down to two things - how much does a person want something and how much does a person want to really get rid of a thing. now that you have been told 2 grand its going to be real hard to sell it for 1600. lol but good luck with your sale and perhaps you will find that guy who really has to have it NOW.

No big plans. Just doing what everyone else is doing for the most part. This will be number one version if I can get it back together. (NOTE taking apart a smith and wesson to take the lock out is not as easy as the youtube video would have you to believe. Sideplates come off easy but oh momma getting them back on is a religious experience as in "help me god please, oh no mister bill, etc") sorry back to topic. I think I will be picking up another m4 along the line and doing it differently - the sleeker more lighter version you expound on strangerdanger. I saw a factory model go for 1200 on calgun the other day and one with a mesa stock and kip carrier mag tube go for 1550 about a week ago. (it sold in a day and half if I recall). I think that one was on ar15.com under shotguns. but strangerdanger gave good advice - if you want to tear it down - and sell the add ons seperate. But remember your playing to a "lets make a deal" crowd mentality. No matter what high prices gunpoker is listing people use it as a guide. Buds gun shop prices are more realistic - anyway good luck with your sale.

why not keep it and sell the beater and then you can have all the fun of making the new one a beater and what would you ask for the beater and what would you ask for the returned to stock if thats the route your going to go

so is it still for sale generate some interest post a picture tell a joke say stuff like NO low balling how much would you really sell it for?

see if we can open this up a little bit... are you open to any partial trades? ya, its a hassle but you can turn around and sell the trades and thus piece it together just a thought.

On the subject of kip carriers mag tube $189 - tried to call - voice mail full emailed and learned there was at least a four week turn around time on the OEM mag tube. but I did not learn what the shipping was can anyone help me as I want to send in postal money order today and I don't know what the shipping is - I am guessing its around 15 bucks for just one tube sent. secondly if anyone has full tube they ordered but did not use or swapped out I would be interested. thank you.

I was just sharing not promoting, most everything we do isn't a good idea but the alternative is boring. Its just a forum and methods like opinions vary. Besides everyone knows campfires are for ghost stories not shotguns.

mag tube removel - add a hot plate to things that work - stripped down with just the little U shaped clamp touching the electric burner - when the intoxicating aroma of oil starts whiffing out the end of the mag tube put on those gloves and it comes right off. "honey, that don't smell like your making cookies in there!" Disclaimer: not responsible for any kitchen s'plosions - fires - or women on the rampage. who ever posted the directions to the m4 thank you - I have not really looked at them yet but I am sure it will help when I put this back together - lol - still waiting on parts for reconstruction..

nebraska - in the urban areas - gun locked up - far from reach - ammo completely seperate -- can leave gun in vehicle for 24 hours unattended -- we are currently just getting a new bill (maybe) that strengthens the castle doctrine - right now as it stands unless your under immediate threat the law is murky - "couldn't you have left through the back door if they were coming in the front door." - however it is nebraska and we are semi texas in defending what is ours -- has not come up that I remember - usually home invasions are drug related and those invading come prepared to get the stuff and money while those in the place are usually totally unprepared for any sort of defense - doors give way in cheap houses rather quickly. and although I live a quiet life - being older and deaf all my doors are reinforced - no kick or shoulder will do the trick..

I wish I could see this mounted. I heAr what your saying about height - surely there is custom work - but blind as to how to proceed - meager tools for work - would have to be pretty simple - probably sling cut down and motified to just use to carry 12 inches or so - maybe less - just for carry not for shoulder and not for cinching to shoot. but how to keep out of the way when running the thing. - thanks for link.
