1. I'm looking at purchasing an M3. I've always been an M1/M4 guy, but I might have an opportunity to pick up an M3 at a decent price. This would be a solid addition to the collection, so i'm trying to get an accurate gauge of its value. Also, are the newer M3's still marked "M3 super 90"? I remember running into this issue with my M4. It has a straight stock (no pistol grip), ghost ring sites, a 7 round magazine (I believe factory), and a fixed cylinder barrel (no chokes). I do believe it's one of the older versions. No box or paperwork, and it's been shot very little, so assume 95% or so, but it may not have any signs of use (we'll see). Any idea of the value? What would be a "good" deal on this?
2. Needle nose pliers to get it out if it's really gummed up. No big deal.
3. Just ghost load one in the carrier and keep the chamber closed. That's really the safest way to do it if you want it to be ready quickly. Somebody comes, just pull the bolt handle back, and voila! You're ready to rock.
4. As for the mag extension, you're unlikely to use it in either scenario. But if you really want one, Nordic is the way to go.
5. It's a Benelli. It'll last. Do some cruising on the Benelli website to familiarize yourself with the firearms--it'll help you make a better decision. The nova is a pump, the m2 is an autoloader.
6. No. You're talking 3" chamber versus a 3 1/2". Won't work.
7. When locked up against the pistol grip it won't rotate (it can't because of the groove cut into the PG itself), extended at the other two LOPs it will. And no, the button isn't getting stuck. I think it's a faulty unit, and I've emailed ProMag. Only problem is 1) if they ever get back to me. And 2) if they do, I bet the exchange timeline is horrendous (assuming by that time they'll still be commercially available. Not real likely they'll go, but there's a chance). Chit like that can tend to piss a fellow off.
8. the cylindrical bar that goes across the width of the tube is definitely not a straight bar, it's more oval shaped towards one end. It doesn't move easily without pressing the button, but it does give a little bit. It also doesn't seem to move quite "right" to me.
9. M4whore's on it. I'm fairly certain Cordoba's never used Mobil chokes. I think they started with the Crio Sport (like the SuperSport), and then changed to the Crio Plus. My Cordoba uses the Crio Plus, but it's a 2013 model. Troll ebay for a used one if they don't have any of the old ones in stock. I know Carlson's used to make some for the crio sport, as did Briley (probably still do), Patternmaster (if you want it broken off in your ass for the same quality of choke), and Kicks.
10. That ultralight would be pretty punishing with turkey loads--so fair warning. For a budget hunter, i'd recommend you pick up an old M1 Super 90 or an old Super Black Eagle (I, not II). I've got 5 M1s and 1 SBE, as well as a Montefeltro (about the same as the ultralight, just a little heavier. It's a great upland gun), a Benelli M4, and a cordoba. If you're on the lookout, you can pick 'em up in pretty good shape for anywhere between $500 and $800, and they're damn near the same as the newer guns. The main difference is that they don't have the comfortech stock. Honestly, I shoot my M1s more often than my Cordoba, just because they're not as loud and it's tough wearing earplugs (yes, it's that loud) and trying to hear the ducks/geese coming in. Anywhere in the 24" to 28" barrel length will suffice for the type of hunting you're talking about, but i prefer longer barrels.
11. I hope someone can figure out what the problem is. It seems no one in my area has a collapsible stock on their M4 (nor any experience with one).
12. It LOOKS like it's on right. That's what makes me think they're either supposed to be able to freely rotate when extended at the full LOP notch, or i just got a bum unit. What do you think, StrangerDanger? I'll upload a few more pictures.
13. Is this how it's supposed to be? I can unscrew the pistol grip to get a better picture, if need be. It's a pain in the ass though.
14. Zeke, here are your pictures. It's not too terrible, but honestly, i'd send it back if I weren't afraid it'd take 6 months to get it again.
15. I do have the correct recoil tube. And yes, it will spin freely to one side or the other when it's aligned with the proper notches--not solely at the install area. It doesnt lock stable straight up and down as I think it should. I understand if you press the button and THEN twist the stock, it should be able to rotate clockwise/counterclockwise, but it'll rotate without me pressing the button. I tried to use that ratworks video too--only problem is I can get my stock to line up at the proper positions, but I can only get it to lock on one side. If i put pressue on the other side (say counter-clockwise rotational pressure), it'll spin the stock so it's upside down. That's without pressing the button. And while it could still be shot this way, I expected a better lock up than that. Unless they're all this way?
16. Zeke, i'll take a picture when I get a chance. It's not significant on the stock, though there is a chip on the underside where it slides into the 3-position adapter. The forend pieces look like they were scratching all together against the stock when it got shipped. Poor packaging (and shipping), I presume. What i'm talking about isn't simply an oil kind of fix, but it might just be that i've never been around an M4 with a collapsible stock. When this is totally installed, are you supposed to have the ability to turn the stock (be it clockwise or counter-clockwise)? Or should it securely lock up and offer mounting so there is no ability to turn it in either direction? That's the problem i'm having. I can get one side to lock (to where i can't rotate it in that direction), but if i put pressure in the other direction the stock will spin so the cheekweld is upside down.
17. Alright, I received my collapsible promag stock today (finally), and the unit has paint chips, and there's marring all over the picatinny rails on the forend. Now, i'm not exactly a happy camper, and part of the reason this is causing such an issue is probably because I was frustrated from the get go (due to the poor condition after blowing the money), but I can't get this thing to lock up correctly. It'll twist to either side, or just one side (be it left or right), but i can't get it to lock down on BOTH sides. I watched some Youtube video for the installation of the factory Benelli collapsible stock where you start at 45 degrees to the left of the receiver then 90 degrees to the right, etc etc, but I can't seem to get it correctly. HELP!?

5 + 0 + 1

Just ghost load one round and keep the chamber empty. Pull the charging handle when SHTF and you're ready to rock. Problem solved.
19. Yeah, that's AT LEAST $800 high, even by current market standards. More so if you're buying the whole lot, but then again, you don't have to go looking. Deals can still be found online, I picked up my fourth M1 tonight (with a 24" barrel) in great shape for $460. Now THAT is a deal.
20. Great price given the current environment. Good luck with your sale!
21. And between the two vincis, that's the only difference--besides the fact that the 3" version will obviously be a little faster.
22. Go to the store and handle the two guns--I personally am not fond of the Vinci feel. They're great guns, as typical of any Benelli autoloader, but they just don't point as naturally or feel "right" for me. If I were you, I'd go with the SBE II, but it's all a matter of whether the quick take-down, modular system of the Vinci has any value for you--for me it doesn't. My guns are either in a full-sized case or in the safe, I don't have to break em down often.
23. You didn't make a bad decision at all. It's not an "inferior" gun--it's just a "different" gun, and I say this in all honesty. You're not likely to need to add a bunch of BS on your gun like flashlights and sights, etc. Maybe an extended magazine and a shell holder at most. That gun is actually faster, and lighter, than the M4. The M4 really excels when you want to have a bunch of stuff hanging off of it--things that really aren't super practical for 3 gun. I guarantee you I'll shoot my ID guns 10x more often than my M4, just for practicality reasons. You made a good purchase--now just take it out and get to know the gun. You'll love it.

I got a new toy!

Well, i've been a big Benelli guy my whole life--i've got 3 M1S90s, 2 SBEs, a Montefeltro, and a Cordoba. I've been lusting after an M4 for years now, and finally decided to bite the bullet--conveniently just before SHTF, so it's actually due in next week. Today I ordered my Carriercomp one piece magazine tube and my ProMag collapsible stock. It's been a damn expensive month with all of my AR item purchases, a new full-size XDM, and some other toys. But hey, at least i'll have it! I'll post some pictures when all of the parts come in.
