  1. I stopped by our normally quiet gun store in Kansas on Thursday, and the 60+ ARs were down to one Black Rain pink camo gun (go figure), but it was gone the next day, they said. I finally bit the bullet and bought a full size 9mm XDM and got a couple extra 19 round magazines at midway. I wanted to wait and get the gun later, but I figured it'd be too much of a pain in the ass to get the pistol in the coming months--especially so without the neutered mags. THANK GOD I ordered my Benelli M4 about a week before SHTF. It's supposed to arrive in a couple of weeks--I bet they'll dry up altogether (unless you want to spend $2k+ for a bare gun on gunbroker). Now I've just got to order the pro-mag stock and a carriercomp tube...it's been an expensive month.
  2. Honestly, it should be an M4 or a pump, because any of the inertia driven guns have the potential to short cycle without a solid mount--hence the loss of the hip shooting option. All of my m1's are kind of hit or miss with cycling if I'm fooling around and doing hip shots or extended one-arm shots on claus.
  3. For the money you're talking, it'd only cost another $100 or so to pick up an another complete gun--that's what I'd do. Those stocks are so overpriced you don't have many options.

    WTB Benelli m4

yeah, i've been watching, but they seem to be high lately--might just be because it's the holidays. Still looking.

    WTB Benelli m4

Just like it says, i've been looking for one locally and can't seem to find any decent deals. I would prefer a black model with the collapsible stock and extended titanium tube, but will entertain all of them. I'm not real picky. Send me a p.m. with what you've got, what all is included (box, paperwork, extras), condition, and price and we'll go from there.
  6. I just went through this dilemma, so i'll help you out as best I can. It might be a little long-winded, but it's all for posterity's sake. I shoot a lot of waterfowl. I bought a case of blindside 3" #2's last week, and a case of HeviMetal 3" BB's, after doing some of the same research. From what i've read, it's a straight up devastating short to mid range round. I patterned it at 20 yards with a factory modified choke in my cordoba and had a GREAT pattern--much better than heavymetal, black cloud, and super steel. That being said, I live in Kansas, and the wind picked up too much for my paper targets to stay down reliably and pattern the 40 yard shots. But, from what i've heard, blindside performance starts to drop off (due to the hexadronal shot's flight resistance) after 35 yards, but should still be pretty good relative to other rounds. My IC choke did even better at 20 yards. Most of my shots, however, tend to be within the 35-50 yard range on geese. I would still be ok with a modified in that circumstance if needed--because if you go tighter, you might need a specialty choke for BS to get it to pattern alright. I didn't get to try my Carlson's extended ported full choke on it, but they say it's not the same as black cloud and the wad won't get held up in a full choke--i'll see when i get a chance to pattern it, but i'm hesitant. For longer range shots, I plan on using the HeavyMetal shells anyway (situation allowing), they have better long distance reliability, and I certainly won't have to purchase another expensive aftermarket choke. At your ranges, a factory benelli modified choke should perform just fine (and as good as any aftermarket, in this circumstance), as the constriction won't be tight enough to strip the BS specialty wad from the shot. So based on all the research i've done, don't mess with the aftermarket chokes at that range. If you start shooting further out, then buy a specialty IM or F that is designed for BlindSide, but i'd speak with a rep at the company beforehand to see if it's necessary--or if that's really even the shell you want for longer ranges.
  7. I considered both the Vinci and the Cordoba, and I felt like the Cordoba was twice the gun. So I bought a cordoba. The Vinci just feels goofy to me. I'm not a huge fan.
  8. And the price jumped up to $1999! Gosh, I remember the days when M4's were almost affordable.
  9. I'd say just run a box or two of really hot shells through it, and it should cycle the ranger stuff no problem. As for your question, the Hornady ammo is awesome and better than the Ranger. But that doesn't mean I think it's worth the price difference. I'd pattern your gun more than anything, as they should cycle the same after you run some hotter shells.

    Benelli M4?

I agree with truckcop in saying the M4 is not for you. M4's are amazing pieces, but it's just not what you'd want. It's got a specific purpose outside of what you'd really use it for, and it won't take 3 1/2's. Additionally, you're looking at primarily short barrels at 18.5" (i.e. poorer slug performance, which is all your father would use it for). If 3 1/2's are necessary, go with a SBE. If you could live with only shooting 3" shells, i'd go with a used M1. You could probably pick up a a SBE or M1 with a good compromise barrel at 24", or a two barrel set (one rifled, one smooth-bore) for still less money than a decently-priced m2. And that's like HALF the cost of the m4.
  11. 2 indeed. Both of which should be put on after the hand guard and before the barrel itself.
  12. Just like it says, i'm looking to pick up another longer barrel for one of my shorter m1's. I'd prefer black, but I guess i can always get it duracoated. From the ridiculous prices i'm seeing online, i figured maybe someone on this forum might actually want to sell theirs instead of letting it sit in limbo forever. If not, i guess i'll just pick up another m1s90 with the longer barrel next time (for about the same money these darn barrels are online), and leave the safe queens where they lay.

    Good Day

    What a great picture!
  14. I live in Kansas, so our laws are probably a little different than yours. But for the few people that do crow hunt, we don't really take it seriously. I just take out an electronic crow call and sit in a collapsible chair under a tree with a full CASE of shells in some random field. Some days are obviously better than others, but man, when you hit a big group, it is something. It's damn near raining crows! I've had a couple of hunts with well over a hundred birds on the ground.
  15. Guinea pigs, what's the verdict on this stock? It'd be especially relevant to hear from anyone who bought this that has experience with Benelli factory collapsible stocks.
  16. Sent you a message, Alex.
  17. Hello all, I've been a big Benelli guy for years, but it seems I've just now bitten the bullet and registered for the forums. I've decided I'd like to get a spare pistol grip stock for one of my shorter M1's, but I'm not sure what all models will fit? I've been checking gunbroker and EBay, but i'm not quite sure what I'll need. Will the SBE PG stocks work? What about the supernova stocks? Where is the best place to pick one up? Thanks for the input guys!
