I see I can't go back and edit my post. I already have a few people asking to buy it, so please, no more.

Digging through parts boxes looking for 1911 springs the other night, I ran across my mount. (1913 rail version) Like now, put it on and took it off a day or two later, if someone's still looking for one. (I had a WTS odd on some forum, but now I can't remember which lol) (just checked a distributor and all the IWC products are sold out, so the internet must have gotten the news)

28" barrel was perfect. 20" shot (on the same receiver/stock shot a little high (though I don't shoot clays with it, it's for 3-gun and the like, so shooting steel closer up. Slightly bigger dot was enough to make it good). All my others are sights or chopped down rib barrels, they don't, but I don't know that they're applicable. Not something I've heard too many people complain about.

Sadly you have the Benelli problem. For what a barrel will cost you, you could buy a whole 'nother gun from a different company. Or be 75% of the way to another used M2. My M2 match gun, I've lost count of the many thousands of rounds through it, 98% of which has been cheap WalMart bulk Federal ammo without issue. Of the inertia guns, I've got 3 M2's (had 4), an M1 and two SBE's. Never had trouble with any light loads. even on the SBE's with their longer stroke.
-
My opinion comes from putting my M4 with mount/light, and an M2 with the same barrel length, same mount/light on a scale. The M4 was a whole lot closer to 2lbs heavier than 1lb heavier. Yes they M4 comes in several models. But not counting the SBS (or fixed choke, removable choke, silly choke ), from the trigger forward they're exactly the same. I have ever so briefly toyed with knocking the sight off the M4 and having a vent rib added, but that would be stupid money for a gun I'm not in love with. And you can't get into a pissing contest with me, because I don't really care. Certainly nothing to win or lose, no minds to be changed, no different outcome even if they did.

Man that first post, are we sure that's not a spam bot? lol Justification and/or fanboy blind devotion. The M4 certainly has them like few other firearms. (the only other gun that comes close in my mind is everyone's recent love affair with the "Staccato". STI made these 2011 pistols for years and they were scorned by "real shooters" as gamer guns and not to be taken seriously. They changed the name of the company, made them black, hung a bunch of shit all over them and now they're every Timmie's ultimate wet dream pistol.) "When going down this rabbit hole the one shotgun that kept coming up over and over was the Benelli M4. Everything about it shows it as being the most effective tool for the job." What job is that? That's the problem. It's a job that almost no one who buys them is actually doing. (and I don't mean pretend practicing to do it, "training"., LARP'ing and fantasy camp with guns.) The M4's problem is it's one trick pony. That problem's not exclusive to the M4, other than that it's only available in the one dress. (short barrel and ghost rings) Plenty of other guns come like that, but unlike the M4 they also come in other variations. The "issue" comes when people buy what they really don't need. Don't take that the wrong way, people can buy whatever they what for whatever reason the want, or no reason at all. Lord knows I have dozens of guns I sure don't "need" or use for their intended purpose) Like anything else when you try to press it into service for other tasks, yes you can make it work to some degree, but it will never work as well as the right tool. And that's what people are pointing out. The M4's "problem" is too many people buy it because they saw it in movies and video games and know it's the bestest gun ever. (It very well may be, but if it is, it's for doing things they don't do) The old saying was "Beware of the man with only one gun, he probably knows how to use it." Years ago when I worked at a large public shooting range, my mind was changed to "Beware of the man with one gun, he probably hasn't used it in a really long time." Now it might be, "Beware of the man with only one gun, he bought it because of a video game." Anyway... back around the the very first thing I wrote before adding all of the rambling nonsense above: I suppose it's all about realities. For ME, I've yet to come up with anything my M4 does better than the other models. That's ME. (other than yes it kicks a little less than my inertia guns, because it's gas and almost 2 lbs heavier than a similarly appointed M2. But that is of minor importance to me.)

"Stop asking questions you may not like the answers to" seems to prevail on these types of things, be it the FED, State or local government. Gray areas and vague laws suck, but when do their clarification ever go in our favor? Almost never. Stop. And at least start using common sense, and think how they would think. (made up example: No, changing the inertia spring in your bolt isn't going to make it count as a US made bolt. Why would you even entertain the idea?) Laws should be taken in their strictest interpretation, as read by your worst enemy.
-
I mean.. I can see why they make it (to sell things). But I can't think of why I would want it. I've hit it accidentally plenty of times as is. I don't recall ever wanting to hit it and missing it. It made me think of the bolt latch in the Supernova. While it's not the same function, it's the same place. That one I actually made smaller.

In which case you're starting with the wrong gun with the M4. She's a little piggy even before people hang shit all over it.
-
Other than some of the prices being out of whack.
-
"Proof marks" (or something similar) added at the end. Since the exterior shell isn't metal, maybe it's done with heat? I thought the camo wrap guns had a "window" for serial numbers and the like. Maybe they don't do that anymore, or at least on the SN, or not for that marking.
-
I suppose you could put a thin coat of clear silicone like a gasket between the two, that would help with any scuffing. But I don't think there is any really. It's not moving around to cause wear. I have an as new mount with the rail that needs a new home FWIW.
-
Looks REALLY well used for two years. Did you shoot the hell out of it or buy it used? If it's not ammo related, and not over lubed (heavy oil or grease), I'd throw a new inertia spring in it because it's a cheap simple thing to try and if it's got an unknown number of rounds on it, it couldn't hurt.
-
Well, I'm not going to suggest you look into adjusting the jam nut, but...
-
There is so right answer.... no right answer, whatever.
-
There is so right answer to that, since one gun/choke/shell combo may shoot well in one gun but not another. Also what shells you're using really changes the answer. Simple answer would be buy a Carlson's rifled choke and see what shoots best with it.
-
Are you sure it's not the corners of the plastic stock shim? I know they're a bit proud on a few of mine. If so that would be a real simple fix.

I recently cleaned a police trade in barrel that looked like it had never been cleaned in it's life. I really thought that barrel was maybe toast when I first looked at it. I remembered reading that something was good for wad fouling... either WD40 or brake cleaner. lol I laugh now because I can't remember which... but knowing where I did the work, I don't think there's any WD40, but there is brake cleaner. (and that makes a lot more sense I think. lol) That and a regular bore brush made the barrel spotless.
-
Sorry for the possibly stupid question, but you're playing with/adjusting the metal stock locking plates too right, not just the plastic drop plates?
-
That's what I did. The jury is still out for me though, not on the setup but shotgun dots in general. "3-Gun"? Actual three gun, or just sort of semi informal stuff. Equipment wise I'd fear getting eaten alive in Open, especially if it happens to be that your shotgun dot is the only thing putting you there.
-
"Every gun is a law unto itself." A good guess is the most you can hope. Better buy a couple boxes, test and find out. Some time back I bought a case of Federal LE reduced recoil slugs, turned out the gun I wanted to use them in shot them great, just about 8" too low to be useful. Ended up selling the remaining 98% of them.

How did you know and what made you look there?
