I remember hearing same happening for shells. If mag tube remains fully loaded all the time for a long time, shells experience constant and full stress of fully loaded spring hence damaging the casing. Recommendation for long term storage with loaded mag was to load less than full mag to decrease spring tension on shells. Say if your mag is 6, load 4 or 3.

If it’s gauge and not specifically Benelli M4 I think you can integrate everything and more on Keltec KS7 with longer pic rail from Hi-Tec.

Interesting observations. For self defense I kinda tend to keep the gun light and with minimum stuff on it. Even though Holosun is experimenting with integrated night vision red dot sights I don’t think I’ll ever buy them. Reliable red dot and flashlight is all I need for my purposes. Also made modifications to keep my M4 as light as possible without sacrificing reliability. But if you absolutely need to integrate Surefire xvl2irc and alike, I think you already can, as there are pic rail mag tube adaptors.

OP didn’t mention about wanting to increase limited capacity. In which case you would normally want to add a mag tube extension but not ghost load. I asked because I really wanted to know about any practical usage of ghost loading. But instead I learned there is a kibitzer on this forum

Thanks. Well it sux as I really like my oversized button on M4 T Pro. Pity there are no other reliable options to make loading easier.
-
I realize it’s an old thread. Are you still happy with M2 follower on your M4? Also is it possible to drill and tap it for enlarged (round) button installation? Thanks

Check stock charging handle of new Benelli M4 T Pro. I think this is what you may be looking for.
-
I tried to understand what you were trying to achieve but am not sure I’m following. If only to have a lighter charging handle then I just can’t understand what a few grans of weight difference would make. If you want to do a DIY charging handle with your own design then it’s clear. Since you already tried dozens of models, I may recommend looking at To i System charging handles. They have different charging models available, sport, tactical, long, short etc for Benelli M4 and are a company doing parts for competition shooters. So they know what they’re doing. My friend have 2 and is happy with them. Here is, that I assume, is the smallest model, it’s 15gr, not sure if it’s too heavy for you.

I would suggest to keep an eye on weight. M4 is no light shotgun out of the box and more you put on the heavier it gets. The heavier it is the more difficult it would be to manipulate and carry if you have to. My modifications were towards making it lighter. I would definitely suggest to get a shotgun first before ordering anything else and see how it feels like in your hands “stock”. If you put all this on, you may end up with about 4-4.5kgs empty. Put 7 slugs to the tube along with a sling and you will definitely feel it. While always a preference, Eotechs are heavy and bulky. I’d recommend going lighter, optic mount something like Scalar works which replaces the rail and a red dot of your choice, RMR or Micro mount. I have Aimpoint H-2 and Vortex Sparc Solar on both of my shotguns. Very happy with them. Using optic mount will also put your red dot closer to the receiver so it will cowitness with your iron sights and allow to maintain cheek weld to the stock.

Small update. Stock pad that came with Toni System stock was total crap, very hard and cut by hand. So I decoded to upgrade it. Took some time to find one with matching wholes as TST stock is not standard. Cervellati Microcell Recoil Pad 216098 Black is almost perfect match. I didn’t feel a beed to sand it. Will leave it here in case someone would want to upgrade a pad on TST stock. It’s thicker than that coming with stock and much much softer. With this pad length of pull was increased to 35cm.

This is work of art. It’s pity I’m not in US and can’t send mine for this to be done.
-
Why would you do any modifications for that? My M4 can ghost load but I don’t see any practical value.
-
Thanks, already installed it.

Benelli USA website: Which chokes are recommended for slugs? These chokes are recommended for slugs: 4 notches = Improved cylinder 5 notches = Cylinder A cylinder choke is recommended for shooting rifled slugs in a smooth-bore barrel. Sabot slugs should only be shot through our fully-rifled slug barrels. It is not safe to shoot slugs through chokes tighter than those listed here. ——————————— I had similar question as my M4 T Pro came with Modified Choke. So I updated it to IC just to be sure.

Looks awesome. Though forend is kinda close to the muzzle as it doesn’t have a handstop or anything. Probably nothing to worry about if you will have a sling installed as well. It’s a pity we can’t have anything with a barrel shorter than 18.5” where I live.
-
Installed choke has 3 notches, so I assume it’s a modified choke. Is it good for slugs or should I change it to C or IC?
-
As far as I know improved cylinder choke is best for accuracy with rifled slugs, better with 00 buck too. Could you guide me which brand/models to buy for my M4? I know nothing about chokes and would appreciate some guidance.

They have two distributors in US and as far as I know this is the second one: https://americanprecisionfirearms.com/american-precision-firearms-home/toni-systems-american-precision-firearms/

BTW the stock comes with SX/DX plate, so you either install it for lefty or right hand shooter. Also it will make your M4 front heavy as the stock is only about 300 gr of weight. As you could see it was 2 QD slots installed on sides (in right places) which are interconnected to each other inside. But there is also a third QD slot at the bottom. 2 slots to insert shells as well. These guys are specialized in sport shooters products, which is why I love their stuff.

If you can have it shipped to some EU address which can then send it to you, you can contact Toni System via WhatsApp and try to reserve one. Once available they can let you know and you can place an order. Not ideal but that’s how I did it as it was also out of stock on their website. Or you can register on their website and check availability there and subscribe to updates when it’s on stock.

Didn’t shoot it yet as stock was installed yesterday. It would take some time for me to bring it to the range though. But I’ll update here once I do. One thing for sure, loading it is alot easier now. I tried many different methods on loading and found the belt to be the easiest for me. It’s very easy to flip it one handed and load with weak hand from the belt. Wasn’t possible with pistol grip.

Bought it from Toni System website delivered to Italy. Had to wait for some time for stocks to be produced. As far as I know they have a couple of distributors in States but not sure about stocks availability
-
Not rubbery but polymer very grippy texture and thin aluminum Mlok slots (pretty much useless in that position) insert. yep, Toni System too and only 94 grams.
