  1. Holy thread ressurection, batman!!! This is old info. Wolf Benelli magazine tube springs are a LOT stiffer and longer than the factory M4 leo spring. I replaced 2 of them from new guns because of this recently. Another bonus, the wolf springs, while longer, actually compress shorter than the factory benelli spring. This means its easier to get a 7th round in the tube with the wolf spring!
  2. Considering the bolt is already hard chrome plated, how much of a difference does coating the carrier make? Do you notice it being able to cycle lighrer power loads that it couldn't before?

    Patterned an M4

Try the Winchester Military 00 buckshot. With their new shotcup wad and buffering, they pattern very tightly with choke (tightest with IM choke from benellis)!
  4. Thanks for trying to take a stab at it, i doubt it's that heavy though. Espessially since it's hollow. I also thought I read somewhere that the leo m4 steel tube and extension weighed around 12 ounces total?
  5. The LEO models have a steel extension vs the alluminum fake extension. I'm curious how much heavier they are.
  6. Depending on the distance and size of the boar. Under 400 pounds and 40 yards or less, the tightest patterning full power 00 or 000 buckshot you can find. Over 40 yards or 400 pounds, rifled slug (either brenneke, Federal Deep Penetrator, or Federal classic 1.25 ounce foster).
  7. I know the one piece titanium magazine extensions weigh around 5 to 6 ounces. I am curious about the weight difference between the factory LEO two piece steel tube (5 round + 2 round steel extension) and the one piece factory 7 round oem steel tube. Thank you!
  8. How much did he charge for the CH and shipping? How do you like the CH vs other aftermarket options?

    Kroil?

    Crom? 😆
  10. Hopefully it fits all of them! How simple was the install? Too bad shipping costs as much as the part! Anyone know a source for the new M4 Gen 2 charging handle?
  11. PM'd you. I wish they would sell the updated bolt release on benelli.com. This site wants $150 for it!
  12. Is benelli going to be selling the gen 2 controls seperately? Would love to pick them up.
  13. As can be seen in the picture, the barrel is NOT forward anywher near the same distance as the right handguard. Also the left handguard IS fully seated. Furthermore, these bolt assist devices are supposed to be able to be installed in this fashion and are supposed to let your guns fire just fine! I am just not sure if Dave's is different as it specifies in the instruction manuel that one should file the handguard (but none of the other bolt assist devices require such)? Would prefer to hear from someone who has actual experience with the Dave's Metal Works speedbar.
  14. No one has any thoughts? I'd rather not fire it and find out the hard way if there's a problem!
  15. Should fit fine.
  16. Wanted to try a bolt assist device so I bought and installed Dave's Metal Works "Speedbar". In the instructions it ssys I need to file out a portion of the handguard to create space for the bolt assist device to fit, but other bolt assist devices fit and function fine without having to do that (from what I've read). I'd rather not permanently alter my factory handguard. The barrel looks like it isn't 100% fully seated, there appears to be a minor gap between the barrel and receiver. Seems to function fine with snap caps though. Is this a problem? If so, other bolt assist devices don't suffer from this but the DMW's speedbar does?
  17. Further elaboration from Dave.
  18. Does anyone have any experience with Dave's Metal Works Magazine Springs? He included one with every extension he sold. I have one I bought 2nd hand that included the spring, and it is the FIRST time I've seen a flat wire spring for the benelli M4! It reminds me a little of Tubb's Flatwire AR buffer spring. IT measures around 28" long and seems to have decent tension to it. I emailed Dave about it and he described it as follows, Not sure what "Rocket Wire is", but it sure sounds high tech. When fully compressed, there is actually a hair more space in the tube to load rounds than the sorter factory spring when compressed. Was trying to look up first hand user accounts of it and someone posted that he bought the extension and used the spring, and that the spring was "junk" and started giving him cycling problems after a time. Didn't check the date of the post, so not sure how old it is. If anything, I would think that a spring like this would function better! Does anyone have any experience with this spring or know anything about rocket wire? I think it's cool that there is actually a flatwire mag spring available for the benelli m4!
  19. Hi Joe, Did you read my OP? I mentioned that I am NOT using the retaining cap... Also, if the 5 round spring is the same length as the LEO 7 rd one, then what is the point of swapping the same spring in???
  20. Now who's bad? The extended mag tube cap also allows me to easily fit a 7th shell in the mag tube with no issues!! BAYONEEEEETS!!!!!!!
  21. Almost all off the shelf shotgun slugs (including brenneke) are perfectly safe to fire in even a full choke. Now accuracy is another matter, you may get the best accuracy with a C, or IC. You also might find that the results are close enough out of a M choke to not matter / bother with switching.
  22. I can do that but was wondering what those who have tried it first hand have ended up doing coil wise? Would like a bit of a frame of reference to start!
  23. I have a few shotguns (M2 Tactical, Winchester 1300, 18" 590 w/ +1 extension, etc) that will consistently fit 7 star crimped 2 3/4" shells in the tube of any make. Now, 3" or roll crimped 2 3/4" they will only fit 6, but anything 2 3/4" and star crimped is no problem. Hell, the M2 will fit 7 of the longest Federal star crimped shells with a half inch to spare! The Benelli M4 LEO is the exception. Even with the spring retainer removed, only SHORT star crimped shells will be able to have 7 fit in the tube w/ factory mag spring. Fiocchi, Fetter, Winchester, (Federal bulk birdshot) are some of the shorter star crimped shells that will JUST BARELY be able to fit 7 of in the LEO factory tube. Federal's star crimped buckshot shells are a little bit longer, not enough to be a factor in the other earlier 7+1 guns I mentioned, but enough to be a factor for the M4! I am a quarter or so inch away from being able to fit a 7th Federal star crimped buckshot shell in the gun. I would like to be able to fit 7 federal shells without issues. What does everyone here do modification wise to allow a little more space in the mag tube for your M4s? Currently, I am keeping 7 Winchester shells in the tube to try to compress the spring a bit. I did this trick for an 870 I put a wolff spring in that wasn't able to quite fit 6 shells in the tube. Keeping 5 shells in there for some weeks, compressed the spring a bit and made it take enough of a set for me to be able to comfortably load 6. So far, I have kept my M4 loaded with 7 Winchester shells for a few weeks, and it doesn't seem as if the spring has compressed at all. I was thinking of putting a wolff spring in there to see if that would help, but I know wolff springs are even stiffer than factory so I don't see how that would make a difference. I am also contemplating maybe cutting 2 or 3 coils. I'd hate to do anything that would interfere with the reliability of the shotgun though, as strong mag tube springs are key. How many coils cut would allow me to squeeze that extra ~1/4" for the 7 Federal shells in the factory tube WITHOUT hampering long term reliability? Is there anyone who has done it? What has your experience been? Finally, I am just curious, is the one piece factory Marine M4 tube a hair longer than the LEO two piece? Did those with the M4 in the service with the 1 piece tube have any issues fitting 7 shells in the tube? I have to wonder if the one piece may in fact be a hair longer, which would make loading a 7th shell all the more easier. Thank you!
