The_Dude Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Wiki is your friend, look up assault weapons ban. Well.......As I thought The Federal Assault Weapons Ban expired on September 13, 2004 Anyway......sorry about the hijack. Quote
MTSCMike Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Well.......As I thought Anyway......sorry about the hijack. This is true at the Federal level and in the "free" states but in several of the not-so-united states the ban was kept in place at the state level so to those poor citizens the term "pre-ban" still means something. AMEN! The socialist state of Maryland is one of them. :-( Each state grandfathers pre-ban weapons. However, California, Connecticut, Hawaii,. Maryland and New Jersey also require registration of such weapons.14 Edited June 19, 2011 by crofton Quote
Unobtanium Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Pre-ban. Means not subject to 922r as I understand, which is still a current pinko law. Pre-ban is also a description of the weapon, as it is an HK and not a Benelli, technically, as I understand it. Quote
SgtCathy Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 My little gem, bought back in 1986, is in the "Defense/Police Configuration". The only deference between mine and the picture from planman above, is mine has the 7 shot long magazine (7+1+1). At the same time, I also bought the standard black ABS stock, 27+1/2 ventilated rib hunting barrel with 3 chokes and limiter rod (drops magazine down to 2 rounds). Since I live in Taxachusetts, BANNED doesn't even begin to describe my lovely H&K Benelli. You need prove of purchase date (for grandfarther clause), special license (class A) and lug it around in a locked hardcase. But on the bright side, by the time I'm ready to buy a new car, I could use my H&K Benelli to pay for it, since I could almost ask any price I wanted. Quote
m4p226n Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Wow, that gun brings back such good memories...good luck with your sale...someone will own a classic! Almost tempted to buy it just for sentimental reasons. Rarely do I sell a gun that I don't regret it at some point...the mixed blessing of being a collector, I suppose. Quote
