M4-Desert Camo Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Anyone do this? Been reading a lot about the procedure but I wonder if subjecting the camo finish to 15-20 minutes of that kind of heat would damage the paint (or powder coat). Quote
StrangerDanger Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 In the past, others who have done these mag tubes on the tan camo versions did not have trouble when using a heat gun. I would focus the heat of the gun on the mag tube and allow the heat to saturate to the threaded area. I would not use a torch. Quote
M4-Desert Camo Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 Thanks SD ..... Kip is the only one I found who offers a 7rd tube in Camo tan so it will be end of the year probably before I can replace it. Heat gun is a go! Quote
heckler&kochp2000 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Your just drying out the lock tite. Heat the of magazine with a small propane torch that's how mine was done . Quote
Dan GSR Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Yup, torch 20 min with heat gun, getting the receiver hot Or 20 seconds with a torch, heat focused only on the tube, receiver stays cool to the touch Quote

Dan GSR Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 I think you will do more damage with a heat gun. If you are worried wrap it in a wet cloth Quote
benelliwerkes Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 A little late to the party, but nonetheless, here's an M1 with factory camouflage .......using a heat gun ~3 minutes. [/url Quote
