M4 Light Mounting Options

I have a M4 11715 arriving soon and was wondering what everyone does for light mounts. I have been looking at the Surefire M600DF. It’s kind of unclear on their site as to how it mounts, but judging by the look it’s a rail mount. My questions is how I could mount this without my gun having a rail.

I just picked up an 11721 yesterday and have been on here looking around also...

OR you can change out the foregrip for a rail system...it appears there are a few choices folks like:

Agency Arms - appears very difficult to source

There are a few other models but appear to be not as well liked as the above...once you go with the m-lok setup there are a couple of options:

That is all I have found but I just joined this forum today and have only got about an hour or so digging into it...maybe a more experienced member will fix what I have broken!

Not gonna lie, the Scout option may be the way to go. I really don’t want to change out the foregrip.

your best bet than is probably the IWC scout mount with pic rail with the Trex arms light bar attached and the surefire scout attached to that

I have an as new IWC mount to sell, but the two times I went to list it, other people had just posted one. 

Now I'm not 100% sure where it is. lmao

depending on the price and if it has the 1913 rail, I may be interested, just missed one for $50 bucks shipped on ar15 a week ago..

What is the 1913 pic rail used for? I see they sell the scout without it.

When I first got my m4 I wanted an Ava mount. Their website claimed that they were in the process of making more but I saw that screen for months so I bought the iwc mount thinking the Ava mounts would never get made. Then I found an Ava mount for sale here so I jumped on it. I really have no issue with the iwc mount.  It’s just that I have light I would prefer to use over one with a scout rail system.

Wow, I just checked this mount out and it’s really nice. It allows the light to be pretty snug to the gun, I really like that. What light did you choose to mount? Have you gotten it yet?

Yeah...the scout light body can be attached directly to the IWC mount with screws, you don't need the pic rail unless you want to be able to take the light on and off at will without disturbing the mount. Using the pic rail will stand off the light further away from the gun which to me is not optimal. YMMV.

I use the pic rail IWC mount with a Streamlight tlr rm2.  Great set up for hd.  Easy on and off off.

i use a surefire g2x tactical. its not meant to be wml so it may not last forever.  so far its been good for about 300+ rounds. i know of another person that runs the same exact set up and he supposedly has ran over a couple thousand rounds.

How far from the gun does the light sit?

At the light’s head there’s probably an ~1/8th of an inch of clearance from the barrel/magazine. I can post up a

sorry. i noticed your last question was for evolutions post regarding the scout light on an iwc mount. just to be clear: my post was regarding a surefire g2x tactical light on an ava mount.

Mounting Solutions...  

When and if my tube ever comes, I don't know if I'm going to keep it or not. I hate lights on shotguns, even though I know their value and do use them lol.
