Ty17
I bought the Benelli M2 2 piece carrier latch for my wife’s 20ga M2 and went to install it today and it isn’t working. When I reassemble the gun the bolt won’t close. It seems like it’s too big or something. It’s part number 60488. Anyone else had this problem? The original one piece one goes back in and works no problem. Comparing them side by side I can’t see why the 2 piece one won’t work. Any ideas? Ty17
The rear of the 2 piece carrier latch has a lot less side to side spring loaded travel than the one piece one.
remarkable
More than likely the New Carrier Latch style, 2 piece was not designed for the previous generation of M2's. The 20 gauge would have already had the 2 piece carrier latch if it was the newest rendition on the M2 released last year.

So the part number 60488 is for the new style 2023 and newer M2s?
Ty17
From my research, Benelli made that 2 piece carrier latch back in 2019 or 2020, well before the new style M2s came out.
Steve Rose
Can you post a side by side picture of the two parts?
remarkable
They have made two piece carrier latches for some time in the SBE 3 & Ethos platform. No M2 Comfort Tech (Older Verion) had a two piece carrier latch, thus the new two piece Carrier Latch similar to the Ethos platform as well as the SBE 3, is not made for pre 2023 M2. It appears you answerd your own question when you said, "2 piece carrier latch for my wife’s 20ga M2 and went to install it today and it isn’t working." Steve Rose
Actually, some of the earlier 20 ga M2 guns had a hinged or " 2 piece" carrier latch. The new 20 ga guns I've seen the past few years (pre 2023) did have a one piece latch like the 12 ga guns. Note the shape of the release button on this linked part, its round, not oval like the post 23 design. 20 ga 2 piece latch Benelli may have made internal changes in the 20 receiver shape when they changed to the (pre 23) one piece latch. That older 2 piece 20 ga latch WOULD fit inside a 12 ga gun. Some 3 gunners tried using them hoping shell would slide into the mag tube easier when speed loading. More info....Look back at the pcitures from July 2020 in this thread @Ty17 Can you post a side by side picture of the two different parts you have? Is the forward end of your 2 pc latch contacting the magazine follower and stopping it from moving enough to release the bolt? remarkable
The two piece Carrier Latch which is installed in the redesigned M2 is a hinged two piece Carrier Latch very similar to the Two Piece Carrier Latch installed in all Ethos Platform as well as SBE 3 Series Gun. I own all of these models. That part looks like the following image: https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/60929 The redesigned two piece Carrier Latch which is in the SBE 3, Ethos platform as well as the redesigned M2 will not fit in the previous version of the M2. Steve made a great point about the riveted style two piece Carrier Latch. This part is very different in design to current.
Ty17
This is the 2 piece carrier latch I bought. It’s made for the older style M2s with a round bolt release button, not the 2023 and newer M2s. They also fit the Affinity 3. From Benelli, they say it’s for the 20GA M2 and they made them long before 2023. The M2 I have is a 2021 with a comfort tech stock and round bolt release. That is why I cannot figure out what’s going on with it. It should be a drop in replacement but it will not allow shells to feed from the magazine tube. I can’t post a picture of it side by side as it’s still in the gun. When I get a chance to take it apart I’ll take some. It’s a 2021 M2 20 that I put it in. It came with a 1 piece latch. I’m not sure why it’s not working. It won’t allow the shells to feed from the mag. It’s essentially a single shot gun like it sits now.
