S.C.I.E.N.C.E
Hey! From my research, the modified choke that comes with the M4 is not suggested for firing slugs. I read I should be using a cylinder choke but after looking at the benelli store, I wasn't sure which one it was. I'm looking for a 12g Benelli m4 choke in black, could someone possibly share the link of the correct one? Thanks
NCswamp13
Just make sure it's a Beretta/Benelli mobil choke and you'll be all set. And btw, I shoot slugs through modified chokes all the time. Never had any issues.
John Doe
It is fine to shoot slugs through a modified choke. I have shot countless slugs of all kinds through a modified choke with no issues.

Guess I'll just run the modified choke

Guess I'll just run the modified choke Yeah, and it is usually from people who never have done it because they were told by someone else not to so then they pass on that information. Trust me, I'm on the internet lol. No, but serious though, I have run almost every type of slug through my modified choke and I have had zero issues with it. There has been no damage whatsoever to the choke or barrel and feeding has been perfect as well as accuracy. To be honest I can not think of a slug you can't shoot through a modified choke. Maybe one of the Hornady sabot slugs? I have not tried those.

Thats dumb. People just run with info without finding out themselves. Trust but verify, do it yourself unless evidence to the statements is obvious. Blain
Almost all off the shelf shotgun slugs (including brenneke) are perfectly safe to fire in even a full choke. Now accuracy is another matter, you may get the best accuracy with a C, or IC. You also might find that the results are close enough out of a M choke to not matter / bother with switching.

Shotguns are a mysterious fig. I have shot slugs from an IC and the Modified and sure enough I was getting better groups with the modified. I did run a full choke for a bit but when compared to the others the full was throwing shots and the mod was a nail driver even when compared to the others. I don't know why or how, but they just do. Some people have had different results, so always a good idea and go out and pattern yours.
