12508 Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 Hi all, I patterned an M4 at 7, 15, and 25 yards with different buckshot loads (estate, federal, hornady (8 pellet critical duty). Thought you might be interested. Also tried wolf and s and b but those exceeded the max upload. They aren't available now and performed poorly after 15 yards anyways. Note: each target has a hanger hole at 12 o'clock at the top, it isn't a pellet hole. This was with an 18.5" M4 with factory removable modified choke. Cliff notes: only the Federal LE 127-00 would put all 9 pellets on the paper at 25 yds (nice 6" ish groups). 20251223_233513126_iOS.heic 20251223_233603271_iOS.heic 20251223_233905148_iOS.heic 20251223_233626249_iOS.heic 20251223_233653264_iOS.heic 20251223_233717139_iOS.heic 20251223_233739853_iOS.heic 20251223_233811136_iOS.heic 20251223_233836970_iOS.heic 1 1 Quote

What is interesting is that the the Hornady Critical Defense uses the same wad but in my experience isn't as tight after 15 yards. I only tested LE127 because it cycles every semi auto i've ever tried it in; the LE133 seems hit or miss in M4s and 1301s in my experience. This also shows that the claim that flite control must be used through a cylinder choke or else performance will suffer is false. I also patterned an M4 sbs and a Nova Tactical/SP if people are interested in those. Quote
filthy phil Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 I fired some through this. Was pretty brutal lol 2 Quote
Blain Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Try the Winchester Military 00 buckshot. With their new shotcup wad and buffering, they pattern very tightly with choke (tightest with IM choke from benellis)! 2 Quote
