  1. I decided to bring the stock to work and see if any of our technicians had any old school fixes in mind, we ended up getting the bolt undone and the issue situated. It was indeed cross-threaded but only hand tight and barely half a thread on but enough to unscrew the cap itself and get stuck. Once we had devised a device to hold tension on the Recoil Tube Cap within the stock, it spun out with ease. Many oddball sized pairs of forceps, cut sections of fuel line to bite against, and long skinny wedges later LOL. Later, when reassembling the M4 in stock configuration, I found that the culprit to be that the OEM Circlip is extremely loose in the groove on the Recoil Tube itself. Unsure if anyone else has experienced this but I can shake it out if I try hard enough, otherwise a fingernail can unseat it and it will fall out. Going to pick up another when I head to the hardware store to get the correct M8x1.00 bolt. Odd issues all around but glad to have it situated!

  2. No sling mount kind of sucks. Not a huge fan of the Mesa Tactical Urbino style attachment system for the stock. You had best be really careful tightening the bolt into the receiver extension. That snap ring will not prevent the stock screw from backing out during disassembly. Do not use thread locker on this bolt or you’re going to have a really bad time. The stock screw will come out of the receiver extension and be stuck on the end of the attachment bolt deep inside the wood stock. Not a huge fan of how they carved the handguards. They didn’t use the same piece to keep the grain of the wood consistent. Most Benelli owners would pay more for a better made product.

  3. I've seen a few people complaining about fitment issues on these Panzer Wood stock sets but like many, I still caved and bought a set since the price was right. During installation however, I may have hit a snag that I don't think anyone else has hit and I am looking for some advice before consulting a gunsmith or someone with more tools than I. I had removed my C-stock and Pistol Grip and was mocking up the Wood stock fitment, testing the hardware etc. I had mounted the stock and started to thread the supplied bolt into my recoil tube and found it too be a bit long and needing another washer to provide adequate clamping force onto the receiver. I then started to unscrew it and disassemble once again. However, while removing the supplied bolt, I felt a twang and realized the recoil spring had shot out! Now, the problem I am having is that the factory Circlip that retains the threaded recoil tube cap was not properly installed (brand spanking new M4, never even fired) and allowed it to thread all of the way out. I now have a bolt stuck in my stock and no way to grab onto the threaded recoil tube cab on the other side. Any ideas on how to hold or brace it so I can remove the bolt? The inner diameter of the wood stock is pretty narrow, and I can't find anything quite long enough that can open wide enough to clamp onto the recoil tube cap so I can back the bolt out of the stock.

  4. Sounds like you got Mesa Urbino’ed. I’m glad you were able to get the stock screw out. These stock screws were never meant to have a bolt put in them like this. That snap ring isn’t designed to handle the torque of a bolt. It’ll pull right out of the extension since it’s barely held in place by the race cut in the threads. I definitely would not use Loctite on these threads. I was hoping they had copied the oem style attachment system, but it seems they cheaped out sadly.

  5. From what I've read of others installing this wood stock is that the bolt that is supplied with it is the incorrect thread pitch; it comes with an M8x1.25 and the benelli threads on the extension tube cap are fine thread M8x1.00. I tried beforehand using that same bolt when I got my wood set in and sure enough it did not want to go in even a full turn. There are some who have ran a die down it and cleaned it up to work however I went out and picked up an M8-1x60. It sounds like you may have cross threaded the receiver tube cap? Perhaps then when you tried backing the bolt out is why the cap came out with it. The Turkinelli stock attaches in the same fashion as the Mesa Urbino and there have been a few in the past that have loctited their mesa stock bolts (they were loosening) into the receiver cap, and found themselves in the same situtation. If I am right. I don't think there is any good outcome to this if you have indeed crossed things and the bolt and cap are now stuck inside the stock. Besides a new stock and reciever cap. For that matter though I do hope I'm wrong and you've had some luck getting things back apart since your post.
