It's much closer than that One ounce of lead = 225 #6 pellets One ounce of H-13 = 210+- #6 pellets Once ounce of Win XR = 212+- #6 pellets - 6-7% at the most for most HD pellets. So, a 1 7/8 lead #6 = 422+- pellets and a 1 7/8 oz H-13 #6 = 394 pellets. I've hand-counted H-13 & XR many times, I get different #'s from different batches, but they are all in the ballpark of the #'s above.....

Normal wear and tear. I called Benelli in 1992 when my 1991 SBE started to show wear patterns - they said it was normal and would not get any worse - it hasn't, but it has only been 17 years

I was convinced to try different barrel lengths based on the reports by shooters like Steve Conover, who has won a ton of NWTF Still Target Shoots over the past few years. You can maybe still find some of his older posts over on the NWTF forums. I am lucky enough to own and/or have access to many different barrels. Sometimes it's just a matter of borrowing a gun from a buddy and not telling him you are going to swap the barrel for a little testing. My initial concern over barrel length started in 1999 with a 24" barreled Nova that tossed maybe the worst pattern I have ever seen. 28" barrel with the same choke and shell produced excellent patterns. Sold the 24" gun for $200 and moved on. Same for my many SBE's over the years. 28" barrels always threw better turkey patterns than the 24" or 26' barreled guns. My Browing Golds, Silvers, and BPS's all put more pellets in the 30" circle with longer barrels even when using the exact same choke and shell combination. Going from 24" to 28" will produce the most drastic change in pellet count. Please remember, I'll spend $500-$700 in shells just to test each year, so it's not like this is new to me. I shot 50 H-13 3.5" #6's in one day last year in five different guns. With 2-3 new guns coming this year, I'll probably do it again! If I didn't travel to states where shots on turkeys can be longer (Nebraska, etc.) I probably wouldn't care so much about long range patterns. But since I do, I do I hope this helps

I've got the new Bass Pro 2009 Fall Classic flyer right here - they have the correct photo of the M2 American: Trigger guard is M2 Forearm is M2 Mag cap is M2 Stock is M2 - but not CT 3 chokes - presuming not Crio The one at BPS is matte black with Max4 camo stocks - normally $1199 - on sale for $999 I think Cabela's was using the wrong photo for their ads....

I messed around with several Vinci's at Sportman's Warehouse Monday. My god, I've never seen a cooler shotgun - I must have one or two Easy to take down and reassemble. Fits me perfectly. Points well. I loved it. 2009 is going to be the year of the Maxus for me, but once my local dealer gets a Benelli issue resolved, the next gun is a Vinci for sure. I've got a gun safe packed with Benellis and Brownings, but I'm sure I can find room for the Vinci. The sales rep at SW, a good friend of mine, said the 3.5" version was due out next summer. That makes 3 different shop people who have told me this in just the past week. I'm getting some real field reports from some pretty serious shooters who have actually shot the gun, several of them have put 1000's of rounds through the Vinci already, and all the reports I'm getting are very positive. If you don't like the looks of it, fine, don't buy one. But man, I love it and will soon be on the Vinci horse!!!!

Yes. Too bad for you I guess

Longer barrels throw a more dense pattern. And yes, I've tested this with the same gun and different barrels. Sometimes as much as a 15% difference when using the same choke and shell combo. My more recent turkey gun puchases have been 28" bbl guns. Now, I'm talking strictly numbers and my tests have been limited to turkey chokes. For waterfowl and upland, I don't want turkey patterns, so either the 24" or the 26" should be fine. I'd flip a coin or go with the 26" for maybe just a tad tighter pattern at a tad longer distance, just a tad mind you

15 birds...like I wrote

I hunt all over

Sit and call almost exclusively. But an occasional spot, stalk, and intercept, does occur
-
Yeah, we got another 100 day season here, bag limit of 15 birds per day, I guess I'll give it a try

Legal in some states - maybe Colorado for one? mudhen

The Buckhammer and a long rifled choke like a Rhino, would be my first choice if buying a fully rifled barrel is not a good option. The Buckhammer was designed, at least in part, for use with rifled choke tubes.
-
What barrel length? I've had nothing but problems trying to pattern short barreled guns, especially Novas.
-
Yep M1 Super 90 - they are all over the gun broker websites - extremely common firearm. I've seen them selling used for as low as $350 in fair condition, up to $900 if essentially NIB.

Only the economy + a dealer issue have prevented me from owning a Vinci thus far. Other than some light load issues, all the feedback I have been getting from people who actually have shot the gun (as opposed to some Internet Wizards who have not), has been very positive. That being said, I feel that a properly broken in and properly maintained SBE II is an invaluable tool that should serve it's owner very well for as long as necessary. I have an SBE that will see it's 19th opening day this fall
-
1. Go with the camo - it wears just fine. 2. There are plenty of dove loads that cycle just fine in a properly cleaned SBE II. 3. I don't know as don't think I've fired a shot out of a factory Benelli choke tube since maybe 1991 or so. I get very good patterns from a wide variety of longer aftermarket choke from; Briley, Primos, Trulock, Carlson, etc. I don't shoot much 3.5", but it's nice to have the extra pellets when I need them - up to 40-50+ more pellets in some of my favorite 3.5" turkey loads

I loved 'Ergal' on Family Matters

Because they don't have to Besides, they have never given the 'scoop' here that I can recall. Remember, this website is for us to play around, it's not a conduit to customer service! It seems like gun companies are more brand loyal or brand specific than some other companies. Browning has been MO for as long as I can remember. Benelli has been RT for as long as I can remember. I am only guessing (with a hint of industry trade rumor), but I think the MO camo thing with Benelli involves black guns being shipped to Tarjac for dipping per Cabela's specifications. You would probably not be able to get anyone at Benelli or Cabela's to verify this, but more than one industry rep has told me this has gone on in the past. Actually, I've grown tired of the banana yellow Max 4, I like MODB and I love MOTS. Benelli should probably look into different camo patterns soon as Browning seems to be staying far more current in that area.

Not even close Looks like the budget M2 that was mentioned as being the Big Secret, which turned out to be the Vinci. Actually, just from the Cabela's ad, the American looks like an M1. No CT, I presume 3 chokes, probably not Crio, etc. $949 sounds a little steep, I was hearing retail $800-$850....
-
He do $1299 at Cabela's = lots of other folks will have one too
-
I don't use the sights for waterfowl shooting.
-
Cabela's has had custom camo film programs for many years

Ok, sorry, the Chester comment was just a general reference to who could be posting on a website, not specific to anyone here Look the 'Lounge' up on the Internet
