  1. Asked and answered, one just has to read the posts
  2. Pretty sure not until 2011, and for handgun ammo only. But, some rules start sooner. Pretty sure pistol magazines, speed loaders, handgun ammo, primers (maybe?), and some other items have to go behind the counter as of Jan 1, 2010. If they only knew how much ammo is going to get bought before that time
  3. Then you added: "People hunt with all black guns, stainless steel, guns with gold inlays and everything else." Hence my reply
  4. No big deal at all You do seem to question people more than most. And your style is not one I see often. I've never had anyone tell me what to use if I want to "bring home dinner" "If you want to bring home dinner get what I recommended you". I'll admit that I'm not a fan of bashing new items without that item even being given a chance to perform in the field. Kinda like how the Vinci was bashed right out of the gate. I know many Vinci shooters that are very satisfied with their purchase. Same thing for Hevi-Metal. It just came out and right off the bat, folks were bashing it. Again, I'll admit, that bothers me. To me, bashing without a foundation just defies logic and common decency. A few Internet Wizards pop a few shots at some cardboard, and presto, the shot is crap. I'll just stick to doing my own homework as usual!
  5. Yes, and humans killed animals using box canyons and poison darts too No offense intended, but I think the old 'my grandpappy kilt animals with a blunderbuss' is maybe one of the lamest statements around. It just doesn't have any relevance to today's world in my opinion. It's a tired and stale position that resolves nothing. But that's just me.....
  6. Max 4 turns too yellow for my taste - I'll never buy another product in Max 4. For me, it's MO Duck Blind, or MO Brush, or MO Tree Stand, or the new MO Break-Up Infinity or whatever they are calling the newest MO I've started seeing MO on Benelli products at places like Bass Pro, Cabela's, and most recently, Scheels. The Scheels in Rapid City, SoDak, had a MODB SBE II that was very cool looking I seem to recall that some big chain sporting goods stores are ordering special camo runs from Benelli USA. Probably using Tarjac in the US or someone like that.
  7. I really like MODB - I think it will work fine in most situations. I disagree to some extent that camo makes no difference. I spend a fair amount of money & time on hunting trips. I don't want to risk a game opportunity because someone on the Internet said I didn't need this or that. I prefer to find out for myself and let the animals in the field decide what I need or don't need. I've had hens within 6" from the end of my camo gun barrel and not react in any way. I'm waiting for the 'peck' that will probably happen someday. Close up hens have brought me many a tom I've layed out in a Texas field in 12" of grass, prone with gun ready, waiting for a flock of 50 birds to feed into range. I don't honestly believe that if I were not camo'ed head to toe, and shooting a fully camo'ed gun, I would get as many chances as I do. Now I hunt many different states in many types of different cover. If I only hunted in dense cover, my opinion might be different. But I have to be prepared for whatever hand the hunt deals me. Now, if someone else wants to pay for all my hunts and gear and time, then I would probably try other methods. But until that happens, I'm going to stick with what has worked for me in the field
  8. Tastes the same to me I don't give a rat's arse what is says on the label as long as it works.....
  9. I've had no less than 6 duds from brand new Kent steel shells of various versions. I've had shells replaced by Kent more than once for manufacturing defects. I've had Kent shells stick in several different guns. They are filthy and will never be used in any of my guns unless they are the last brand of shell left, even then, I might give up hunting instead Anything else?
  10. None taken! In a good year, I'll shoot 8-10 cases of shells, so I like to try as many different types as possible. A good friend owns a pretty large gun shop, so I get decent prices on products. Black Cloud is cool - I shot 2-3 cases last year. Good for longer ranges, no better or worse than any other steel at close ranges. The Black Cloud chokes are fine, but I can clean my own chokes, thanks! As to price, both are available for $189/case delivered, so that's a wash. Hevi-Metal has worked great for me so far. Fast. Clean. Knocks down the birds just fine with about 1/2 the kick of Black Cloud. I've cut a few shells open, and the pellets look fine to me. Don't care what they use for buffer, flax seed, bird seed, I only care if the shell kills birds. Maybe these guys from this morning have something to say about Hevi-Metal, including the banded one
  11. I shoot Hevi-Metal Kent is just too dirty and inconsistant for me....

    How Long???

    Well yippee ki-yay
  13. A few issues. I don't like the old style ejector plate in the SBE. Big issue for me. The broker websites are become less and less useful for pricing I think - they just show MSRP or very high prices - I doubt we ever get to see the real price the guns are sold for. I pass up a wood SBE about every 5-6 months, some as low as $450 for an 80% gun, some in the $600 range for 90% guns. I just don't want or need a 12-18 year old shotgun that has been improved. If I had to guess a value of a 95% SBE, I'd say anywhere from $700-$850. There are still NIB SBE's for $999 floating around.
  14. Maybe a slip on pad of some type? Otherwise, I know of no factory way to modify the SG stock. I sold mine because it shot too low - sold it for more than I paid for it - so I didn't bother to have it modified.
  15. I'd contact Benelli CS about the mag cap - it sure looks like it's included on the wood M2. As to the stocks, you can try Gun Brokers, E-Bay, etc. Stocks from a dealer could costs $500-$600+.
  16. Yes, it's removable. You need to take it out to remove the firing pin. That part has been known to break. I'd contact Benelli CS and check to see if they want to replace the part under warranty. When I sent back my 1991 SBE for a cracked barrel ring, they changed that part out and did some sort of upgrade work. You can also just pay the $13 and get it from Brownells. Just curious, have you ever taken the bolt assembly apart? I consider cleaning the bolt critical to the proper function of SBE.
  17. This is patently inaccurate as it applies to the guns I own
  18. Hot grill + salt 'n pepper + sprig and/or speck breasts + maybe 2 minutes on each side + eat 'em up while they are still able to fly away
  19. Can you please post a photo of your M2 D shim? There is no D shim or matching locking plate listed for the 2/II series guns. None of the plates they enclose with the 2/II series guns are marked D DX/SX. The C shim offers 65 mm of drop, so the D would have to offer around 70 mm of drop. If there is a new D shim for the 2/II guns, they should have sent you the locking plate for it or instuctions on how to use it with one of the existing plates. I would gladly try to obtain a factory D plate for my SBE II because grinding down another shim to try to get more drop only works so well. Thanks!
  20. Whatever someone is willing to pay for it I just turned down a 2001 black SBE for $600. Just didn't need it.....
  21. Looks like a Model G22, a pretty old version at that. Can't recall when they went to the finger groove model, but it was many years ago. I can get the newest version of the G22 with the rough texture for $499 on sale at most places. Cost is around $440+- for many dealers. Probably less for some larger dealers. Of course, the Cali guns come with 2 x 10 round mags
  22. Winglock ducks calls, WL honker calls, a River Forks speck call, a Foiles Strait Speck call, a Primos High Roller (silly little call that I like), a nasty Wal-Mart whistle of some type, maybe a Watkins Original, maybe some of the other 15-20 calls I keep in the car. I usually make up my mind once I see the conditions
  23. How about using the search mode yourself This has been covered many times in the past. If Benelli is sending you a D shim, why are you worried about shaving/grinding down another shim to increase drop?
  24. I made many friends today shooting my muzzle-braked .25-06 at the range
