  1. TGG - do you ever get tired of being wrong? You are giving the Sacto area a bad name - no wonder the Maloofs want to move the Kings! The fastest guy currently can shoot 5 shots from an X2 in .51 seconds or .102. He is trying to break .10, but hasn't yet, even the mightly X2 may not be able to do it. .11, .12, & .13 are commonplace. Benellis start to lock up between .12 & .13. I'll admit I was shocked to learn about the X2's speed, I always thought the Benellis were the fastest. Tom Knapp can shoot (and hit) 10 clays in 2.2 seconds for a .22, and I recall he states his fastest times run in the .13 range. I think you need to 'edit' your message a bit more - just block it and hit delete..... mudhen - CA
  2. Exactly Butch-M, exactly..... mudhen - CA
  3. My dealer says they will be $65 when he gets them in stock. I'll wait - $85 + s/h is robbery.... mudhen - CA
  4. The SBE II does not have a stainless recoil spring tube, just a better one than before.... mudhen - CA
  5. I'm only worried that Benelli's claim is untrue. I'm sure professional shooters would argue that speed is not important. The X2 is faster.... mudhen - CA
  6. I learmed how to clean my Benellis back in 1991. About once a year, I tear down the recoil assembly, polish the inside of the recoil spring tube, check the recoil spring and replace if necessary. No problems in the last 14 years or so. I'm sure the SureCycle works, but so does regular maintenance. I do like the SS mag tube kit though - I have that in all my Benellis.... mudhen - CA
  7. I've been shooting 26" for 16 years with no ill effect that I am aware of.... mudhen - CA
  8. I own two BGH's that run fine - they need oil - but they run fine - the BGH patterns steel very well. I have owned many Benellis - they all ran fine - they all patterned steel poorly. I don't shoot steel anymore, so I don't much care. The really good 3-gun shooters can lock up any Benelli auto in 3 shots or less. These same guys cannot lock up an X2. Apparently, the X2 breaks in well and really works great for these comp shooters. Tom Knapp admits that his best times are in the .13 range. Some of these X2 3-gun pros are already at .10 range and may be close to .099 soon. It's not splitting hairs, the X2 is a much faster gun. The problem here is that the real pros know the truth. And when it is proven that a claim is untrue, the entire brand takes a hit in the credibility department. I want to be able to defend my preferred brand with the truth.... mudhen - CA
  9. Nope. Maybe Tucker could drive over to Toxey's house and ask him about that.... mudhen - CA
  10. If you are near a Cabelas, they will soon have Benellis in MOBU, one of my favorite camo patterns. Black guns for turks are good too. Max 4 is fine for now. mudhen - CA
  11. 8 toms didn't see my Max 4 SBE II this season..... It looks pretty yellow in the gunshop, but in natural daylight, it blends well. mudhen - CA
  12. The new Federal HD Flite Control patterned horribly in both my SBE & SBE II. All Federal turk ammo has patterned poorly in every Benelli I have ever owned. I prolly could have taken the time and considerable $$$ to figure out what choke tube when with Federal load, but you can only do so much. From what I have heard, Fed Heavy needs to be tuned like HS. If your guns likes HS, it might like the Fed Heavy. mudhen - CA
  13. The X2 is still faster, over 20% faster. As much as I hate to admit it, Benelli should remove the 'fastest cycling' claim from their advertising. They are not even close to being the fastest..... mudhen - CA

    Don't kick me

I've been shooting SBE's for 15 seasons without much thought to recoil. I have used the mercury recoil reducers for much of the time though. Same for good recoil pads - especially the Sims Limbsaver. Both of my Browning Golds kick every bit as hard as any SBE I have owned. My new SBE II shoots fine with much less barrel rise, which is just super for the 40-50 duck hunts & 20 or so days of turkey hunting I do in an average year. I guess I've been too busy huntin' to pay attention to the recoil. I guess after another 15 years, I'll start to notice the recoil?..... mudhen - CA
  15. I won't attempt to sway you - you obviously have made up your mind - but there is a reason Benelli sells every gun as fast as they can make them It sounds like a Mossy will fit your needs quite well..... Don't let the door hit you on the way out of www.benelliusa.com mudhen - CA
  16. My dealer has ordered the new choke tubes and gel-pads from Benelli. He was not issued an ETA and his rep said it might be well into 2006 before anything new shows up..... mudhen - CA
  17. Umm, I thought I was pretty clear on my opinion of M-turd. The quality is just not there, poor fit, poor finish, I just have no interest in owning one...... mudhen - CA
  18. 3.5", as they patterned better (more pellets!) - yes, the Ext #6's worked just fine, I got a much better pattern with Ext #6's (more pellets!) than I did with the Ext #5's. But, I would use Ext #5's in a heartbeat if I ran out of Ext #6's. Actually, I usually load the Ext #5's as the second shot in my SBE II. No scoring from Ext - they are well below HS on the scale. Also note, according to Winchester CS just last week, Winchester Extended Range are not made from lead. They will likely be USFW approved before waterfowl season 2005-2006 as a non-toxic shot. Now I had heard this before, but I'll wait for an official confirmation before I go out and buy any for dux.... mudhen - CA
  19. Inexpensive readily available parts are the exception, not the rule. Sure Remington and Mossturd have lots of neat add-on items cheap, but consider the source. Have you really handled a Mossturd lately? Yeah that 835 is really a super gun..... Browning, Benelli, Beretta, etc. barrels are all about $400 for the most part. Forearms and stocks are also high ticket $$$$ items for the 'B' brands. The trick is to buy the Benelli you want to start with, 'cuz a new barrel or forarm or stock is going to set you back plenty!! I would keep your 18.5" for home d-fence, and buy a new 26" model for huntin'.... mudhen - CA
  20. The X2 is still over twice as fast as the 'hammer' shotgun.... mudhen - CA
  21. I would vote for fouling. How much, I don't know, but it would not be fun to clean out. I don't think the sabot theory is the same as the shot cup theory...... mudhen - CA
  22. I do not see SBE II barrels at Cal's. I see no SBE II barrels on E-Bay or anywhere else I usually search. I would guess, just guess, that a new SBE II barrel would take at least 6 months to arrive if ordered today, maybe a year if the particular barrel you want is not in production or out of stock in Italy. So far the gel buttpads are a no-show for dealers, the new choke tubes are likely unavailable until 2006, and very few, if any, parts for the SBE II are showing up anywhere as a dealer part. I am pleased that Benelli seems to quickly handle all the warranty requests like; tight safeties, wrong choke tube wrenches, undersized gel-pads, etc. mudhen - CA

    how much??

No go in Cali; the shops figured that out about 15 years ago. While they can only charge $35 to DROS a single gun PPT by statute, they can charge anything they want for a dealer to private party transfer as long as they list anything over the $35 as a 'dealer' fee. While a decent store will not go overboard, some simply hate these deals and will not do you any favor, I don't really blame them though unless it is a special order or custom work. Kinda hard to stay in business processing someone else'e gun sales for $25....... mudhen - CA
  24. mudhen

    $1190 - Max 4 SBE II 26" bbl. mudhen - CA
