  1. nope, nice shot though. I had a turkey attack my jake decoy last year, that was kinda funny, but nothing like that no. The is a VERY big coyote compared to the ones that i have seen around GA. most here are only about 20-30ish lbs.
  2. How is the wind where you are calling? I had that problem last year in a place that was over hunted, the gobblers were VERY call shy, so in order to get them in I pretty much had to ambush them... Try more of an exited yelp, or a gobble tube maybe?? Are there mature turkeys around?
  3. Thanks for the advice guys, I watched the bird for about 45 minutes to an hour and he hever got within 100 steps at all. My buddy went back the next weekend though and got one with an 11' beard and the guy he took missed the other. But that tom is still there and hopefully i can get him later, i haven't had time to go in the last 2 weeks.
  4. if you want new MSRP is 1290.00 now. umm you could get a good used one for a few hundred dollars cheaper, a good buddy of mine got one for a steal at 600, but good luck finding one that cheap again.
  5. So this Sunday morning we caught a big tom out in a 30 acre field or so with 9 hens, we tried to call him over but only succeeded in watching him just strut around for about an hour, with him never getting close enough to us, they didn't know we were there, but how do you get him to come off the hens? do you wait, or set up decoys if you can?? any help would be nice.

  7. Hey guys, post your best/worst story of the season if you got one on the turkey hunting forum, I enjoy reading other peoples moments, and sharing mine as well. I already started with my SUPERB start of the season.
  8. Well, i just wanted to share my misery with you guys. I didn't get a chance to go opening morning, but I got to go Sunday. Me and one of my buddies hit up this small field right off the edge of a small pond, where we had been seeing some action. Well after a little bit of calling, we had only heard one gobble and it was a ways away, (and then we heard it get shot), so we moved on. We went to a clear cut and as soon as we got out to the truck we had a tom gobbling his head off about 200 yrds away. We cut the distance a little bit and sent up, and he started coming in closer, still hot as fire. After about three minutes of this, i heard the worst coyote/fox howling/whinning i've ever heard right between us and the tom, and sure enough, we listening as the tom made a B-line directly away... Now isn't that a wonderful way to start off the hunting season!
  9. the only problem i ever had was when i was at a dove shoot, i attempted to cycle a 3.5 shell after a field load, that doesn't work too well though, other than that, no problem here.
  10. i think getting a pad is going to be the hardest part. if you can get one that will fit there shouldn't be anything to it as lone as you cut straight, i have done it to a youth model winchester before, but never an SBE.
  11. yeah, that is my gun in a mirrored image, the black stock grew on me quick.
  12. Is there anyone else out there besides me who just doesn't like the way the new SBE2 looks? I love my SBE and I don't think i would trade it for the world, is there anyone else who feels the same?
  13. Go with the sbe or m1 depending on what you want to shoot, your can beat the gun up and it works great, plus it doesn't have all your bells and whistles as the monte, visually i mean.
  14. I don't know about the walnut stock, but i do know that if you have a left handed SBE, you can't get a walnut stock "from benelli" anyway, you can get a knock off and that is it.
  15. I'm only batting .500 with your questions, someone else with have to help you with the other two, I shoot a 28' barrel with an extra full choke and i don't have a problem with the turkeys, i like the longer barrels because the sound is also baffled a little more. and yes you can get a 24' barrel if you like on the SBE, they sell 24,26 and 28 inch barrels. Hope that helps you out a little.
  16. left and right are same price as far as i have seen. but that still doesn't help you any.
  17. be careful with the stocks, i'm "don't think" they are the same because i can't get a wood stock on my left handed sbe. AND i want one SO bad.
  18. i'm going to break the ice on the retarded question here, but "what is a mojo-duck?'
  19. they make a left handed safety, but i'm not sure if they would be compatable with the right handed model..?
  20. sbe all the way to the bank. the shortest barrel is the 26" i think though. i don't have a pistol grip, but that and the 4 rd mag extension are on my wish list. i agree with novatkyhntr on the sbe. the 3.5 carry a nice punch
  21. no it's not an "exact" mirror. the button that closes the bolt, is on the wrong side for me and i hate it. me being a lefty of course, other than that though, they are mirrored.
  22. the benelli website says satin walnut
  23. I love a 20, it's easier on the arm, but I would rather have the loads of a 12 before a 20, maybe when i need a new shoulder i will change my mind, but until then, i'm fine by my SBE 12. It would be an awesome gun though.
