    SBE

when i bought my M1 and SBE they came with a hard case, bottle of oil, shim kit, five tubes, mag plug, paperwork, and a wrech/thread cleaner.
  2. hey grey dog, the SBE is about the most verstile shotgun i have ever owned. the only problems i have ever had is with those cheap winchester super speed 7/8oz (1265fps), it will shoot 3 out of 5. it will function flawlessly with any 1oz load and heavier. i have shoot many 3 1/2in and heavy 2 3/4in and never a problem. it is a great gun!

    Ammo Cycling

this seems very odd, what exactly is your gun doing?? did you degrease the action before you started shooting it?? its just odd that its springs have been replaced and it wont even cycle 3 1/2s. benellis come packed in a brown grease that needs to be completely removed from all areas of the gun and lightly oiled before use. if it is not removed it can harden and hinder the actions operation. i have never heard of any SBE with malfunctions like yours. let us know what you find out

    Front sights

the front sight unscrews with just a small wrench. i replaced mine with a truglo bead. its pretty easy, good luck

rogerph, what shells are you trying to shoot in your SBE???
  7. before i bought my SBE i owned: Remington 11-87sps Remington 11-87sp Super Mag Browning Gold Stalker Benelli M1 Before i bought my nova i owned: Winchester 1300 Ranger Remington 870 Express Remington 870s Super Mag i have to say these benelli's are some of the best guns i have ever used. ESPECIALLY over the Remingtons.
  8. 1) no, the merc. reducer does not fit into the wood stock with modification. 2) i have heard that rumor to but i believe it is just that. good luck

    SBE

I wouldn't want a bright shinny gun like a monte for turkey, duck, and goose. pheasant doesn't matter. if you want 3in go for the M1 field if you want 3 1/2in go for the SBE. just my opinion

    turkey loads

according to benelli, no steel shot through the full. so lead, bismuth, and tungsten polymere are ok. hope it helps
  11. how old are your M1's?? my M1 had a middle bead.
  12. i have to agree. i use to have an M1 with a 24in barrel and it was a great gun and man do i miss it!!! since you want the gun for only deer and turkey hunting i'd go with the 24in over the 26in. i have a nova with a 24in bbl and its a great turkey gun. i have a SBE with 26 bbl and im just not sure id like to have to tote it around in the underbrush. keep in mind that benelli recievers run about to inches longer then most other manufacturers. my SBE is almost 48in long and them add another 1-2inches for a choke tube and its getting a litttle long. the M1 with 24in barrel was nice and light and very easy to carry plus it has sling studs. my vote, Benelli M1(if you want 3 1/2 the SBE is awesome) with a 24in barrel in black or camo. maybe you should check out the stoeger 2000 also. get your self a good turkey tube and a slug tube (the C tube works fine for me) and your set with this combo. good luck!
  13. i just checked my nova and the numbers on the reciever and barrle are different so i think it must be normal. good luck!
  14. how about a little bit of each i know how ya feel, a couple winters ago our theromstat went out on cold windy night. and your wife always complains about all the big heavy duck hunting camo. HA! whos laughing now! keep warm!

    turkey chokes

jedd, i have patterned the factory full in my browning gold with three inch winchester HV #6 and i would not feel comfortable shooting at a turkey much further then 25 yards. the full benelli tube has a constriction of .036 and turkey tubes are much tighter with constrictions up to .075. when your target is roughly the size of a playing card i'll take any advantage i can get. but if you do know your ranges and limit your shot you can kill a turkey with any choke tube. good luck!

    Are they shipping

dont know yet. im not the one who bought it and have asked the same questions and just waiting to find. ill let ya know
  17. just be careful with that monte! they are on 5.5lb and have a **** of a nip to um for a 20ga. i bought an M1 field for my girlfriend 5.7lb and i even get a little tired of it somtimes. light weight + locking inertia recoil system = more recoil. your daughter may shy away from it. im looking at the franchi 620 now. its light weight and gas operated good luck

    Are they shipping

they are all ready being sold. Just got SBEII.. Live in east texas area.... $1159..... You cant beat that! The gun looks great! this guy picked it up testerday
  19. 10pntr, i sent a question to benelli regarding the exit diameter of the their extended tube by briley and am now waiting for a response. in the mean time i am going to try the factory style choke from cabelas. its extended with an exit diameter of .665. its also cheap so i wont be out much if i dont use it! ill post my results [ 01-23-2004, 10:58 PM: Message edited by: tj ]

    Benelli 2004

i found this on the website, i guess it explains why. NOTE: Due to the fact that Benelli uses an inertia recoil operating system, modifications such as backboring, porting, and lengthening the forcing cone have a detrimental effect on cycling. makes sence i guess.
  21. thanks briddog i forgot to mention that i went through many different slug types and 2 3/4 and 3in. i found that the 2 3-4in slugs did just as well as 3 in and the win super X slugs did well but the sluggers did better. and as birddog said stay away from saboted slugs in your smooth bore unless you use a good rifled tube. good luck!
  22. i have used remington sluggersin my nova. i have found that the C tube works better then the IC tube. accuracy isnt bad i can hit a paper plate at 100 yards but the hardest part about shooting slugs with a vent rib is adjust for the slug drop. ex. rem 1 oz sluggers -10.6 at 100 yds. a pig hunt sounds like fun! good luck

    Benelli 2004

the barrels are not backbored. (disappointing) the ckoke tubes are longer and run through criogenics. backboring would have been nice
  24. the briley tubes are like an anodized metal sheet around the tube so the color can not come off and the size of the tube is clearly written in bold print on the extended portion of the tube like "IC". i have a few of the X2's and even they have the bold print on them. www.briley.com good luck
  25. Plain O Dude, have you considered buying after market tubes?? all of mine have the size written on the extention in bold print like "LM" check out www.briley.com they also have tubes with colored bands on them. you may want to give them a call if your inertrested because i dont think anyone makes tubes for the crio system yet.
