  1. With a handle like Bubba I am assuming you are a big strong lad, I would opt against the recoil reducer unless yu were shooitng exclusively 3.5". It's easier to develop a flinch than to get rid of one.
  2. The wife is eyeballing a .30-06 carbine R1, she likes the looks of it. She has .243 A-bolt and wants a bigger caliber for bigger game (elk/moose). Does the R-1 have less recoil because of the gas port, Benelli does not come right out and say that. Wosrt case is we buy another A-bolt with a boss but neither of us want the loud crack it produces. The BAR is to heavy and bulky compared to the R1. Suggestions, has anyone felt the recoil of an R1? Is it reliable, problems etc. Thanks [ 07-01-2004, 04:25 PM: Message edited by: shell waster ]
  3. I would like my SBE to cylce and reload faster. Just joking, it's perfect.
  4. HK man, I think the SBE 2 will be the better way to go, but I would wait, they are having some safety issues. I only shoot 3 1/2" and the SBE isn't too bad, but the recoil reduction would be nice.
  5. Due to the hot debates on this thread I am sure big brother (Benelli) is listening in and is going try to resolve the problem. With that said, there are three rules that I abide when buying guns. 1) Research, check forums, magazines etc. 2) Wait six months to a year on the hot new models. Make there are no "new bugs". 3) Check the gun out at the shop from head to toe, looking for scratches, working the safety etc. This usually takes about 1/2 to one hour. If there is anything that I don't like, I either negogiate or don't buy. I am personally waiting to get an SBEII for now, I really wanted one because they look cool. I hope eveyone gets their problems solved quickly.
  6. Contact your local DU chapter and they will be able to help the best, and since they aren't selling anything they are totally honest. Most Co-op can get wild rice, Biologic sells wild rice but it's expensive.
  7. Thanks Birddog. I always read your inputs becasue I think you are a real hunter and not some bone-head bragging about how they are a mighty hunter. PS. I love hunitng over wild rice, it's the best. [ 06-20-2004, 08:41 AM: Message edited by: shell waster ]
  8. What are you hunting? What feels better on shoulder. 3.5" come with some kick in a Nova. I always prefer a semi over a pump on waterfowl. If 3.5" aren't on the menu I would get the M2, but I would wait to make sure there isn't any bugs on the new model (see stiff safety on SBE2). You can use the the time and save for the gun you want. 9. Might want to wait till safety issue is resolved.
  10. Thank you for the input, special thanks to three shot. I am going to call the gun store and cancel my order. It will cost me $50 but like FIB stated that's a lot of money to be spending to have a stiff safety. Since most ducks surprise me because I am sleeping, drinking coffee, bs'ing with my budies, a stiff safety will only further my reputation as the shell waster. Thanks everyone, I will plow on with my trusty SBE. [ 06-20-2004, 08:06 AM: Message edited by: shell waster ]
  11. All you SBE 2 owners, should I wait to but my SBE 2 or is it worth for this season? Is the safety stiff on all SBE 2's. Have you noticed a significant recoil reduction- shooting 3.5" high velocity. I have an SBE and I am starting to hedge on waiting for now. Less recoil would be nice and tighter patterns would be nice.
  12. I have an SBE 2 on order, should I wait till this problem is resolved? Has anyone bought an SBE 2 and the safety is smooth. Thanks
  13. Does wild rice need moving water to grow? I was thinking of planting some until I was informed it needed moving water. I have hunted hundred of wild rice lakes and the water does seem pretty clean. [ 06-20-2004, 08:37 AM: Message edited by: shell waster ]

    sbe stock

I would try going with a thinner recoil pad before cutting the stock. Call Benelli.

    Sport II

I would go with the 28" barrel purely from an easier to handle angle. You won't lose any pellet energy and I just find 30" guns cumbersome.
  16. Like Geno, on my SBE when I first got it, I put some leather around it, pliers and yanked harder than I thought needed and it popped free. After that it got easier, but I still pull pretty hard.
  17. Montefeltro, thank you for e-mail on customer service, i think that's what the doctor ordered. I love my SBE, my wife loves her Montefelto short stock and I am anxiously awaiting the phone call from my gun store saying my SBE II Max 4-D is in.
  18. I am glad you got a new gun, enjoy. The next group of ducks or flush of grouse are wishing you didn't have that new Benelli. [ 06-10-2004, 07:13 PM: Message edited by: shell waster ]
  19. Have you ever been to Mexico, if so how does SA stack up against Mexico. Never been to either.
  20. I am very happy with Benelli, it's a great gun, I am buying another. I did not start this forum to crab about Benelli service, but obivously that's on the minds of many people. I hope that Benelli reads this and realizes they might be losing business.
  21. Correct BenelliShooter, I apologize, it is customer service that the complaints are about, not the back-order. I am sure you can get the gun you want if you are willing to shop out-of-state, interent etc. I agree that the customer service is hurting, but the product is outstanding, I will keep buying the good product.
  22. I have only ever used factory tubes in my SBE, and I am pleased with the patterns. I enjoy reading about those magic chokes that allow you to take 60 yard dream shots, but I would rather find a honey hole and make easy 20 yard shots. Just my thoughts.
  23. Plumber576, I have been waiting over a month for my SBE II and plan to make wait much longer. Since introducing there new line they are totally back-ordered. I think they are going to loose a lot of customers. Check-out the slams on SBE II backordered forum. I has told 2-3 months when I ordered my SBE, so I think July.
  24. waltere, I was told no, an SBE II stock won't fit an SBE, go figure.
