  1. sdkidaho, Regarding does the warranty go with the gun the answer is no. http://www.benelliusa.com/customer-service/warranty.tpl From Benelli's website on the SBEII model: Hopefully someone can suggest a remedy for this problem. However, I think your friend is going to have to send the gun back to Benelli for repairs. Regards threeshot
  2. fsh4eye, I like to use M-Pro7 Gun Cleaner to clean (no smell) and Slip2000 Piston & Choke Tube Cleaner (citrus smell). I oil the gun using FP-10 at Brownells stock number 934-110-004. CheaperThanDirt also carries the FP-10 oil. Tom Knapp of course recommends the Benelli oil that comes with the gun, but more importantly in this thread, he gives his reasons for avoiding certain oils. super gets stuck I also use Birchwood Choke Tube Lube for the choke tube threads. Do not use WD-40 for your gun. Here is FP-10's 4 Product Corrosion Test with instructions of how you can reproduce their test. You can see how poorly WD-40 performed in this test. Regards threeshot
  3. LJDaddy, The CrioChokes have written on the side of their chokes the word "CRIOCHOKE". Regards threeshot [ 01-23-2005, 06:51 PM: Message edited by: threeshot ]
  4. LJDaddy, I would first contact the gun dealer where you bought the gun and inform them that the four other chokes you have do not belong to the M2. It was either a factory mistake or someone at the gun shop made the mistake. Yes, you should have received 5 CrioChokes. http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/m2-specs.tpl Regards threeshot [ 01-23-2005, 12:19 AM: Message edited by: threeshot ]
  5. My breakdown case fits my SBEII and accessories. I assume that your SBEII was fully assembled when you purchased it from the gun dealer. Did your gun dealer give you the wrong case?
  6. Scott66black, I would not go any tighter than modified choke for 00 or 000 buckshot. Actually, I would use IC for 00 or 000 buckshot. If you attempt to use too tight of a choke, you will "blow the pattern" due to the pellets have a higher degree of deforming which leads to pellets acting like frisbees. (Not flying in a straight line). I would go the range with 00 and 000 buckshot and pattern your gun with IC and modified chokes against paper targets. What may work for my gun may not be the best for your gun even if we use the same brand and model of shotgun. Regards threeshot
  7. Boo, Regarding having to release shell # 2 from the magazine onto the shell carrier in order for the SBE and/or SBE2 to function correctly is not true. I know guys that shoot Sporting Clays that perform this trick with their shotguns (not just Benelli's) since you can only have two shells loaded at one time in Sporting Clays. The reason they did this was to try to prevent mis-feeds. When I am shooting Sporting Clays, I just let the SBE2 cycle shell # 2 from the magazine into the chamber. No problems for me. I cannot answer your question regarding the barrel swapping between SBE and SBE2. Regards threeshot

    Choke

RBDIII, What type of buckshot were you using to test your patterns? What brand? What size buckshot? Number of pellets per shot shell? Magnum load? What pattern did your buckshot produce and at from what distance? Thank you, threeshot
  13. benellibill, You got it except for # 2. According to Lightfield, they recommend shooting Sabot shells that are the same length as the chamber. To me, I would decide between the M2 and SBEII or any other model based on how it shouldered. Does the gun seem to align my sight down the barrel? The M2 and SBEII come with shims to adjust the stock. Will you be using the gun mainly for shot shells or slugs? Just trying to give you some ideas of what to consider for your shotgun purchase besides the shot shell vs. slug. Regards threeshot
  14. bootster, It does seem confusing. However, I believe what Lightfield is to trying to convey is to not use Sabot slugs (used in fully rifled slug barrel or rifled choke tube) that do not match the chamber length of the gun for the reason they stated. When using smooth bore barrels, this is not the case when using Rifled Slugs which do not have the sabot (plastic like cup around the slug). Hope this clears-up any confusion. 15. Sweater, Can you post a picture of what you are referencing? I am not sure what part of the gun you are seeing the issue. Regards threeshot
  16. benellibill, Sorry, I thought you were asking if you can get a slug barrel for the SBEII. Yes. Do not use Sabot Slugs on smoothbore. Instead, use a Foster style rifled slug. Remington has one called Slugger Rifled Slug. From Remington's Help section: Regarding your question of using 2.75" slug in a 3.5" SBEII. Yes if you are using Foster style slug. No if you are using a Sabot slug. From Lightfields FAQ: Regards threeshot
  17. Takem Sculling, Are you depressing the carrier button on the right side of the receiver when you are assembling the trigger guard? The other issue to look for is the trigger guard has a lip that attaches to the outside and on top of the receiver, and then you sort of hinge the back of the trigger guard downward into place. Is the shim that touches the metal receiver bulged or bent upwards in the middle when the trigger guard was removed? If yes, you can use a very small (think eye glasses) screwdriver or a use a spark plug gauge tool and used it as if it was a shoehorn to put the trigger assembly back into place. My SBEII had the problem of the bulge in the middle when the trigger guard was removed. Over a period of several cleanings (removing/installing the trigger guard), I no longer have to use the "shoehorn". Regards threeshot

  21. cdogg44, Are you talking about using Hevi-Steel with Benelli's? If so, this thread may be the source of your question. Hevi-steel wont cycle Regards threeshot
  22. Sorry bootster, I am out of ideas. According to the FAQ for Lightfields, they recommend using slugs the size of the chamber. I think the M1 is a 3" chamber. http://www.lightfieldslugs.com/lightfield/index.cfm?pageid=94&id=2&cfid=2026033&cftoken=82564538 Sorry I could not help you resolve the problem. You can always call Benelli Customer Service. http://www.benelliusa.com/customer-service/contact.tpl Regards threeshot
  23. tpeter, According to Benelli's FAQ website, you should use Cylinder. http://www.benelliusa.com/customer-service/index.tpl Regards threeshot
  24. bootster, I see you have tried cleaning and even replacing the recoil spring with Sure Cycle. The only thing I am curious about is the load you shot with both types of barrels. What is the ounce of shot and drams of powered are you using when shooting both types of barrels? Regards threeshot
  25. I believe the misinformation is from the SGW thread "Mossberg 500 12 gauge vs. Benelli Nova 12": http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=37215 More specifically posted by "Guest" on SGW: http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=37215#258451 Pure hearsay with no facts.
