I started out with four boxes of 7/8oz. loads from Wally World.....no problems, fired and cycled all of them flawlessly. I have since shot several hundred of all kinds with no gliches. Good luck

That's a good quesiton turkey......I read somewhere that the only way to prevent cycling is to put the butt pad against a brick wall to stop all movement of the gun during firing. If that's the case....it only seems reasonable that the more you reduce recoil....then the more you increase the chance of a mis-cycle. If we do away with ALL recoil, then we also do away with the guns ability to cycle due to a lack of action movement. If the spring cannot depress, then the head cannot unlock. Anything to add???? What do you all think???? Is it working for others???? Have you noticed an increase in jams, etc. with porting????

Someone else mentioned that same thing earlier on the board....might try a search. Good luck with it.

I have the model 11101 (think that's right) SBEII, which is walnut wood and matte black steel. I hunt mostly waterfowl in the salt marshes and have found that the steel will rust, as with any gun, but CorrosionX it good and you do away with about 90% of the rust problem. Sooooo, with that, dove hunting shouldn't be a problem in regards to rust, etc. I actually hunted doves this year as well as ducks and am very very pleased with the SBEII. The lines of the gun as well as it's function is flawless. Good luck on choosing one..............and to second tucker's note.....I love those flyway editions.

fvr_devildog............same with my spring. I suggest you contact CDay if you haven't already. She did a turn around job on mine within the same week......but, don't just send it in, contact her before doing so. Maybe during a split in the season, you can knock it....makes a big difference.

Thanks Threeshot.........I just checked out the Eezox site....sounds interesting. I'll grab some and give it a shot....if it works like they say, it blows CorrosionX away.
-
One more thing..........Service.......you may hear complaints about that too, but not from me. Of course I only had service once. I contacted CDay for a new safety spring, new one was tight, and she responded within hours email. I mailed my trigger group out on Monday and had it back on Friday. Excellent in my opinion.

No problems here either......I have the wood version and the buttpad slips in and out pretty darn tight. I'm not worried about it falling out. As for the action....I've fired everything from 7/8oz. WalMart loads up to 3.5inch and they have all performed flawlessly. About a dozen or more boxes of shells so far with not one hang up or jam of any kind. I too was nervous hearing all the complaints....but I have never been more satisfied at this point.

Not sure about the SBE II, but I think you could do that with the SBE. Called floating a shell........still illegal for waterfowl.

Never heard of Ezox Drundel, I'll look it up and maybe give it a try. I haven't found my SBEII rusting yet....though I do take extra precautions. My other guns have gotten rust spots on em from situations like I mentioned above. If you have any experience with CorrosionX, I have a question. I have the thin (red can) and the thick (green can). The green is supposed to leave a coat on, not attract dust, etc. etc. I use it on my trailer rims and all bolts and nuts on the trailer, but haven't tried it on a gun. Anyone try that??? Maybe I'll give it a shot and wipe it down to see if it will protect better. Either way, I'll look for some Ezox.

Like has already been said.........you're good to go out of the box. Had my SBEII only a few months and I tested the capacity.....it's two in the mag of any length.

Sorry to offend you, but like I said, you only now ask about aluminum receivers??? You've been on the boards awhile, which leads me to equate your question to "I'm 40 years old, can someone tell me what this appendage is for?" I would be more than happy to assist your 'research', but I have two autos, both with aluminum receivers, one pump with aluminum, do doubles count as having a receiver?? Relax, enjoy the day, don't be afraid to ask a question, but do be prepared to accept the banter, it's all in fun.....oh, and I won't respect you either. hehe, good day!

CorrosionX...................there aren't too many barrells that won't rust after getting salt spray or even fresh water on them. Just stick em in a case sit them on the seat or whatever, and wherever the barrel touches the fabric, will rust as it dries, normally. I have found that CorrrosionX prevents rust from normal air drying saltwater, it beads the spray. As long I do not lay the gun on an object or put in a case to dry, I have no problems. With all my guns, I wipe them down ASAP before leaving the blind for the return trip to the boat ramp. I keep a lintfree rag in a ziplock bag already sprayed down with CorrosionX and barrel snake. Before I leave the blind, I wipe it / snake it and stick in a gun sock then the floating case. All is well when I get home. CorrosionX works.

What I'm wondering is..........you have 72 posts on the boards and you just now get around to asking about receivers??? I would have thought you already owned a Benelli!!??!!

No haven't been up that way. I stay around Bogue Sound, Core Sound, Back Sound, N. River, Middle Marshes and Shackleford Banks. I hear that PP is holding Pintail, Teal, and Blacks....but they're on the impoundment and stay there. Word is, even if you get a draw hunt, your luck ain't that great, they just stay put, don't get up and move around to offer any shooting. My friend says he sits there and watches them all day, just out of reach, but they stay down and don't fly.

Again, today, pouring rain to start the morning.....then two mergies, two buffies......not so good BUT........I have the wood version of SBEII, and it performs flawlessly even in the rain, though I was nervous a cat about rust. I'll step out on a limb here and make a recommendation.....CorrosionX!!! Saved the day....my whole world was wet with rain or saltspray....no rust, nada, nothing. I owe it all to CorrosionX!!

Used my SBE II twice in the blind so far. Shooting MOD with 2 3/4 and 3 inch #2s. Dropped a few also, love it!

I second that 'shobes'......I contacted CDay, mailed my trigger assembly on Monday, Priority Mail....got it back on Friday afternoon...and she threw in a couple decals for me. Excellent, all you gotta do is ask!

I have the model 10011, walnut stock and forearm SBEII. Absolutely no cycling problems from Remington 7/8 oz loads up to 3.5inch Winchester steel. The buttpad is very secure, but not a beast to get off...I suppose the wood grain naturally holds onto it. I love the feel, the looks, and function so far. I accept recoil as a 12gauge is supposed to thump. I previously shot a pump gun which leaves me with the impression that SBEII is a little better in recoil. I expect to be thumped when moving up to 3.5inch, that's just the way it is. In the heat of the hunt, I never feel it anyway. Good Luck to you all....I am one happy camper with mine.

CorrosionX on the exterior surfaces............
-
Echo what cdog said.............search for it, all the instructions are there. I sent my trigger group in on a Monday..........got it back on the following Friday!!! Works great now. Good Luck!

I have always shot pump guns and doubles until now, with the SBE II "without" the comfortech, mine is wood.....so "relatively" speaking, I'm very happy with the recoil. I'm only 6'0" and 185lbs and I find it acceptable....I expect to be thumped once I get up to the 3.5s no matter what I shoot. ps: just read on another post the the recoil reducer will not work on the SBE II. I would suspect that the recoil of a "dead bolt" shotgun such as the Nova would be a little more at the shoulder. The SBE II (I have one) does thump, I believe the Oct. edition of the Waterfowl magazine has a comparison article on gas vs inertia which states the recoil in ft pounds of a certain load was 45 ftlbs at the shoulder. I also have a pump 835 that does jolt me harder than the SBE II.

I wrap a cleaning patch around the choke tube wrench and put one "ear" under the handle and pry it loose. Actually, you can disassemble the gun without removing the handle... just don't lock the bolt to the rear and allow it to remain forward....the barrel assembly will clear it with ease.....reassemble the same way. I believe someone posted some picks on how to do this.

I have an SBE II, but have had no problems whatsoever with cycling any loads. I've shot approx. 100 rounds of 7/8 ounce Rem field loads through it and another 50 or so of 2-3/4 thru 3.5 steel.......with no gliches, none. Don't understand the problems people are having, each situation seems to be so drastically different from the other.
