  1. DB, Nice mixed bag! They're a little dull right now, but you can tell the color's coming. Great pics.
  2. Jr., How did Tank do?
  3. It was a common with the first year models. Call CS and they'll most likely send you a new one. If you have a smaller build, you may want to ask for the shorter LOP model instead.
  4. Sounds like you got everything except the Benelli mug and team Benelli ring
  5. Expect 1.5 to 2 MOA accuracy. If you get better than that, then you're lucky. Also expect to check and re-zero after removing the barrel assembly for cleaning or transport.
  6. Steve, I have to say that what you're doing here is truly remarkable. I watched Beretta's American Safari the other night on TV and they had the old guy from Simon & Simon walking around a petting zoo, and almost collapsing from it, shooting farm-raised exotics. I fast-forwarded through most of it and deleted the time for future shows. It's just not my idea of hunting to see some rich Hollywood types sporting about the countryside on hunts that easily cost more than I make in a year. You appear to be self-guided and are hunting truly wild indigenous species, and are doing very well at it. That's my idea of American Safari, and your still photos are more interesting than their 20 minutes of BS any time. For those of us who are trapped in ordinary lives, please keep 'em coming, my friend!
  7. So, by your own admission, the myspace thing isn't what people are using to contact you. That's not surprising, although I suspect you get lots of myspace messages from Tom and Cindy and Hottie6969, and many others. Myspace requires a sign-up into a sexual predator shopping spree that looks like somebody puked in HTML, your page not withstanding. So now that the PM's are flowing in, why still maintain the myspace link? I have a theory, but I'm not a pro-staffer, so I could be wrong

    LOP

Weekend starting early? Just messing with you, my friend. I've done the same thing.
  9. I think that like most hunting, deer hunting is a matter of being in the right place at the right time, and while calls can possibly get a deer's attention, you have to have one near enough to hear it to begin with. That's a function of hunting the right spots and knowing what the animals are doing as a daily routine, and then putting yourself on an intersection of time time and place with them. One absolute certainty is that if you sleep in or if you leave the stand because you're cold, wet, hungry, or bored, that's when the bruiser will walk by your spot. Waterfowl hunting is pretty much the same. Get on the X, and you don't need calls or even decoys, just a loaded Benelli and a good eye.
  10. I used the Primos bleat call last year and had very good results with it. While I can't be sure that the bleat is what brought in the first buck, I did use it just before he showed up. The second buck nearly ran over me while I was admiring the first one I'd just downed.
  11. 3000 rounds 20 years? $11.00 Yeah, change it.
  12. You're on the right track. As common sense dictates, a little lube on friction, contact, and pivoting parts is the order. A light film lubes and protects from corrosion. Anything heavier attracts and collects dirt and grime, leading to undue wear and friction. I put together a SBE cleaning guide which some have found to be helpful. It's in PDF format. Right click here and choose "Save Target As" to save a copy to your computer.
  13. I don't suppose you want me to comment on that part, do you? I quoted the statement that led me to believe the purpose of the post was to promote the product. I thik it stands for itself, but I'll spell it out for you a bit more in depth. Got your swimmies on? The first post put the product name and specific item in front of us. Fair enough. While motive to sell could be assumed, it wasn't necessarily spelled out, so it's in the grey at that point. Then along comes, "That tells me exactly what I needed to know. More advertising". So to me that's saying that the post was about market research and brand/product recognition, and not so much about deer hunting as it was about sales. Advertising leads to sales, you know? That be SPAM. The fact that the product being promoted has some relevance to hunting doesn't really give it a free pass. Link? It's in his name and his signature. Do you really need a direct link? Click here for a great bleat call Some of us see it one way and some may see it another. Welcome to the exciting world of Internet forums!

  15. 3.5" LH semi-automatic shotgun with a stellar reputation for performance and reliability; that's what led me to Benelli. All of the above have kept me with Benelli.
  16. There we go. Fixed it for you!
  17. The M2 Comfortech should be a valid European model. The Comfort model has the lower rib and longer forend. There may be other differences with the internals as well. If he didn't get you what you ordered, then there should be no obligation to purchase it on your part.
  18. As usual, these are great! Look like it's unseasonably warm there too?
  19. Much like you, I had an 870 for a lot of years. I bought mine in 1978 and sold it just three years ago, when I bought my SBEII. It was and still is the best darned gun I've ever owned. The SBEII may eclipse it in the long run, but it's gotta go a few more years without a problem to begin to reach the high mark set by the 870. Before I sold the 870, and before I bought the SBEII, I briefly owned a Nova. It was light and quick, but it just didn't feel and perform as smoothly as the 870. I'm sure if I'd used it for some time I would have gotten used to it, but I chose to upgrade to the semi-auto so I could more easily handle awkwardly positioned second shots from the boat and blind. Unfortunately, today's 870's aren't as well built as your and mine were. There are more stamped parts which have yet to prove themselves over time. They may be fine. We simply don't know yet. According to a poll by Delta Waterfowl, the 870 is still the most popular shotgun of all time, but the SBE is gaining ground quickly. Still, if I had to stay with a pump, it would be difficult to talk me out of getting another 870.
  20. No. Yes. SBEII - M2 is 3" Yes. Amazingly, both guns kill turkeys. All other factors being equal, expect equal results, but the SBEII can handle the 3.5" loads and deliver more shot to the pattern.
  21. Good to see that God still has a sense of humor
  22. Paroled, or did they give Internet to the inmates? Howdy!
  23. The SBEII has several features that the M2 doesn't. The barrel extension and upper receiver are one in the same, making the gun a breeze to disassemble and clean. Of course, it handles 3.5" shells, and the M2's maxes out at 3". Both guns will fire 2-3/4" ammo with no problems, as long as the loads meet the minimums set by Benelli in the specifications on this website. Mots of the time, they will cycle the light target loads, but there's not promise of that from Benelli. These dogs are built to hunt. The SBEII also features a more open trigger guard, which makes shooting with heavy gloves a bit easier. Given the level of sales, I'd say that many consumers believe these features are worth the extra $$$. Most people find the M2 and SBEII to shoulder and swing nearly identically. I actually liked the M2 slightly more, but I wanted a LH 3.5" gun.
  24. There are always some on ebay and gunbroker.

A sobering reminder, that's for sure. Best wishes for your friend.
