  1. Firstly, you need to understand that the manufacturer recommends loads no lighter than 3 dram 1-1/8 oz. So you're asking the gun to do things it wasn't designed to do. Surecycle makes replacement recoil assemblies for Benelli shotguns. Some claim they work well with lighter loads. You'd probably want to confirm that with the company before ordering.

  3. I am. But when they run you out of the spot you've been hunting for over 20 years, build a dam on the access creek, and tear down your blinds with chinsaws and four-wheelers, there becomes a time when a man must admit defeat and either become a martyr or a member of the new order.
  4. Welcome to the forums
  5. Today, we sowed 115 acres in millet, rice, and buckwheat. It's to be flooded as soon as everything has established itself well enough. I'm pretty sure I'll have a place to use one.
  6. LAME, What kinds of terrain are you hunting? Open fields? Old growth forests? Thick Brush? What style of hunting? Drive & Stand? Tree Stand? Still Hunting?
  7. I had a similar situation a couple of years ago. Ask them if they could ship you a replacement barrel, instead of re-attaching the rib. Offer to give them a credit card number to hold against the new barrel and then release it when you ship the broken one back. They may not go for it, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
  8. I doubt seriously that you'll find a saddle mount to fit that gun. How wide is the rib on your gun? B-Square makes a Universal Cantilever Mount that fits ribs up to 3/8" wide. The cantilever design puts the scope back over the receiver. Here's a better view. http://www.swfa.com/p-7930-b-square-shotgun-saddle-mount.aspx Here's one for ribs over 3/8" wide. http://www.swfa.com/pc-7931-479-b-square-shotgun-saddle-mount.aspx
  9. First one I've heard of. Have you called Benelli yet?
  10. It really depends on what you're looking for, but there's no one-stop-shop as far as I can tell. http://www.e-gunparts.com/model.asp?idDept=348 www.midwayusa.com ebay gunbroker http://www.impactguns.com/store/benelli_parts.html
  11. If it's down to a choice between the Stoeger M2000 or Benelli Super Nova, I'd go for the Super Nova. No doubt. No question. No hesitation. If I wanted a good semi-auto for duck hunting, but didn't want to spend $1,200, I'd go for the Berretta 390 for around $550.
  12. So your patterns were how big? Completely irrelevant question. For a seasoned shotgunner you should have had knowledge of the recoil of a Inertia shotgun unless you believed all those commercials? Not even a question, but just as irrelevant. What's the point of this statement with a question mark on the end of it? So what kinda slug barell ya talking about for the SBE II? Once again... Hello? We're over here, in right field. Lotta people on the Turkey forum have some good info on optics on SBEII's? I'd be interested to know how optics would serve to lessen muzzle jump. Is this a rifled slug barell or smooth and what kinda scope have ya put on it? People have a hard time helping without all the INFO! You might try actually reading and comprehending the information already given before making such a statement. I found the question to be easily understood and fairly well crafted. HOGWILD, please try to give your rapid-fire answers more thought, and try to be a little less acidic. People are coming here looking for answers. if they wanted abuse, they'd call their mother-in-law.
  13. deermasher, Welcome to the forums! Please feel free to ignore the above rant about your knowledge and abilities. We're trying to get a dosage increase, but it isn't easy:rolleyes:. While porting would certainly help with the muzzle jump, I'd recommend trying a mercury recoil reducer from C&H first. http://www.mercuryrecoil.com/suppressors/index.htm They make a model that replaces the barrel nut, and that would put the weight exactly where you want it to be. If that still weren't enough, then you could consider porting in addition to the mercury reducer. The sims pads for the SBEII's haven't gotten the greatest of reviews on here, but that's mostly due to the cheesy mounting plate. The pad itself is excellent.
  14. sdkidaho, I like the signature. Makes me feel famous, or maybe it's just the burritos again . mudhen, I think what skidaho's jab was meant to convey was this . Yeah, it's slightly different in context, but that's why it was a jab, and not a stab. OTOH, I can relate to what you're saying. All of us should be concerned if Benelli's quality is showing signs of slipping. You guys are the best friends I have on this board, outside of HOGWILD and M1014. But they can be so moody and, well effeminate. So let's give each other a hug, pull our manties out and let them snap back into place, and move on
  15. I knew it was a jab
  16. Benelli does specify a minimum load for all 12 ga. models, but they do not specify a minimum for the 20 ga. guns. The idea behind shooting heavier loads is to "break in" the action and springs. I don't think it over-stresses them, but it gets them used to doing their job. I'm sure that doesn't fit into any engineering principles, but that's what they say anyway. Perhaps it's something to do with steel memory or some such? I suspect it also has to do with the friction surfaces deburring themselves and developing a smooth fit. At any rate, I think 600 rounds will suffice As TMAC indicated, Benelli CS does sometimes need more than one try to get it right, but they will get it right. Try the mail order shells and go from there. Please remember to post back here with results so that the information can be a useful archive for future users.
  17. I could be wrong, but I don't think the powder charge has much bearing on how hard the firing pin strikes the primer.
  18. Just an update. OSHA has withdrawn the measure for a re-write. They claimed they didn't know it would adversely affect ammo dealers and sportsmen.
  19. I'm thinking the made in stamp means where final assembly took place, but I could be wrong. I'll try to catch the program on a rerun (shouldn't be hard on the Outdoor Channel) and re-verify.
  20. Well, I guess it's a bit too late to extend you a warm and hearty welcome. Are the failed Winchesters struck nice and deep too? If so, then you have awful luck buying shells, but the gun's OK. If not, then your gun could have headspace issues or a defective firing pin or hammer. Benelli CS is top notch and they will fix your gun if you do a good job of describing the problems to them. They will handle the gun carefully and will not replacee any parts that are cosmetically inappropriate. I'd recommend saving the shells that do not fire and taking some good close-up photos of them. Ask CS if you can send them the the bases if you cut them off, removing the powder and shot. I doubt they'll let you, because the primers are still unfired, but it's worth asking. At least you can send the photos. Welcome to the forums! PS: Dick's Bait & Tackle is no place to buy ammo!
  21. And I have to say that the man seems to have a valid point. On the other hand, I have never known Benelli CS to not be able to resolve an issue. True, sometimes they take more than one try. The felow should either persist with Benelli or take some of the others up on their generous offers to help fix it. Cutting it into 2" pieces will not make his bitterness go away, and it will leave him light in the wallet.
  22. Last I heard, all barrels were being made in Turkey at the Stoeger facility. I believe it was reported by G&A on their TV show, but I'm not 100% on the source. Could explain the reason for the recent drops in QC.
  23. It works for me. I use the C&H model that replaces the barrel nut on my SBEII. The recoil reducer works in two ways. 1. It adds weight to the gun. Heavier gun means more energy is used on setting the gun into motion and keeping it moving. That means less energy is transfered to your shoulder. 2. The mercury is in a sealed tube, but the tube isn't full, so the liquid metal is allowed movement inside the tube. I don't know all the mathemetical formulas and laws of physics, but the movement of the liquid further dampens the sharpness of the recoil so that it's more of push than a whack.
