No misfires. I'm always conscious of the fact that I'm using an Inertia gun. If I bump the gun for any reason, I make sure it's in battery.

Yes, I reload. I was out of it for a number of years, but now that the nest is emptying out, I'm finding the time to do it again. The dials are custom made by Kenton Industries to correspond to either factory loads or to your pet load. They also make windage dials if you prefer to have them too. They make them to fit the most popular makes and models of scopes (Leupold, Zeiss, etc.) On the order form, you submit either measured ballistics data that you've compiled or you can give them your bullet type, weight, charge, altitude, barrel length, temperature, etc. and they'll make the calculations for you. Testing mine last Spring at 500 yards, I was shooting 3" groups and the dial was pretty much dead on. I'm developing loads now for my 25-06 beanfield deer rifle. As soon as I have the sweet spot, I'll get another dial for that one.

I used mine on a pheasant drive last Fall, but the way these birds holding we could have used badminton racquets on 'em

That one's my 22-250. I'm still tweaking the loads to find that exact sweet spot, but she'll shoot The best part about it is the TTC dial by Kenton Industries. No holdover. Just turn the dial to the desired yardage and squeeze.

Took some time, but he did a whale of a job! I sure would like to see an Extrema2 done like that What pattern should I use to match up well with my favorite deer stand?

That's good shooting for a 17. I wish I could get into a dog town within a day's drive of here. Still waiting for the beans to begin coming up around here.

Reading back through your posts, I'd say the issue is one of the following three things: 1. Dirty/rusted chamber. Inspect the chamber to make sure it's clean. Insert ann unfired shell and check the clearances. Insert a fired shell and check the clearances. 2. Headspace. When a shell is inserted in the chamber, is it fully seating and resting on the rim or is it setting out. Are the primers being struck with enough force to place a dent about half the depth of the primer? 3. Ammunition. mudhen did an excellent post on here some months back about some ammo being made out of spec. The rims on the shells were shallow and rounded, not giving the ejector claw enough to grab. When a shell fails to eject, are you seeing a spot on the rim where it's trying to grab, but is slipping off the rim? The Benelli is a pretty simple machine. It shouldn't be hard to carefully examine the evidence and come up with a reason that it's doing what it's doing. Some skillful and delicate file work could be a fix, but you have to know enough about the failure to be able to implement the fix.

It ain't hard to figure out.

It's an Avery What are you shooting the PD's with? Looks like a New England Arms?

e-gunparts appears to have the wooden stocks.

The Benelli warranty applies to the original purchaser only and it is good for five years from purchase date.

Dave, I prefer to break in with 2 or 3 boxes of heavy field loads. The recoil spring noise is normal and it doesn't need to be cleaned and oiled but once or twice a year under normal use. I would break down the gun into its major components and clean/lube those. It helps you to become more familiar with the weapon and it insures a good start. Yes. On the Dixie side of VA.

The late shooting will a difference exactly once in any given spot. Once geese are shot on a roosting spot, they're not likely to return to that spot, so make good on the opportunity. These look like the changes that the Atlantic council recommended last year, but few state adopted. Glad to see at least MD is moving in the right direction. Haven't heard what VA will do, but they're pretty slow to adopt radical changes... unless of course you're talking about splitting up and making a new country

Excellent description. Here's a picture to help.

No big deal. I misunderstood your original post and thought he already had a gun and that you wre looking for a second barrel for it. The suggestion for a combo is good advice.
-
Nice one! Congrats on sticking with it.

Careful, Benelli owners! Your R1 could be outlawed in Krazyfornia

No offense, doc, but if you're buying something for someone else's gun it's best to either ask them what they want or give them a gift certificate. His personal preferences may be different from thos of ours, and a gun is a very personal thing to most guys.

I don't think expeience with this particular gun would be a necessary prerequisite. Anyone experinced with brakes should be able to do a nice job for you. Briley can do it. http://www.briley.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=16

Yes, it's legit. You can search youtube and find more from Mr. Scott.

Benelli offer three different thicknesses of recoil pads for the SBEII. http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/partsAccessoriesPads.tpl Other than that, the stock should not be shortened.
