  1. Try Mann & Son in IL 618-357-2911 Also, according e-gunparts.com, the same rail fits the M4 shotgun. You may want to call Benelli to have that confirmed, but if it's true you'll find M4 rails a lot easier than you will find R1 rails. My 30-06 R1 took the same base as the Browning BAR base. However, the scope may run out of adjustment on elevation as the R1 factory base is tapered. Not sure what the MOA is on the taper, but mine topped out with the BAR base and wouldn't go any farther. You can also get offset rings for the BAR styled bases to compensate for the effoset in the factory rail. Lastly, I'd try contacting Benelli CS about obtaining a base directly from them. You may be pleasantly surprised .
  2. I'm not quite following the logic on this one. You buy an Italian made shotgun and then opt for American made parts because you want quality? Why not buy an American made shotgun and get the whole package in the best possible quality? Of course, that's a rhetorical question. I could see the logic if the gun were made in Turkey, Pakistan, India, or China... but not Italy. Italians produce some of the finest workmanship and quality in the world when it comes to firearms. As far as pricing for these goes, I'd say that if you can make them and sell them for about what the Italian parts go for, then your advantage on availability and turn-around alone will bring the orders to you.
  3. I don't know about the reducer in the short stock, but CS could tell you. My best guess would be no, because of the space limitatons. Porting a pump's barrel will have no negative effects on the performance or operation of the gun. It will add some noise to both the shooter and to bystanders.
  4. Read the last question on the FAQ.
  5. How in the world did I ever kill turkeys back in the early 80's using a 2-3/4" 870 with modified factory barrel and gloss finish, shooting #4 lead and wearing blue jeans and a camo jacket and cap? As I recall, it was easier to get a tom back then than it is these days. I wonder why? Oh yeah, I know! It was because the woods weren't full of camo-clad fools who read a magazine article, bought a shload of equipment, and went out and shot at birds 40 yards away!
  6. If the gun fits you it will feel comfortable and you'll hit what you're shooting at. Using an empty gun, pick a distant target of about 30 yards and focus on it while assuming a good stance. Shoulder the gun with your eyes closed. Open your eyes. If you're aiming at the target, you're real close. Now move on over to the pattern board and try a few rounds from a natural shooting position. Check for where the center of the pattern appears to be. Is it where you aimed? High? Low? Right? Left? Refer to the manual and adjust accordingly.
  7. Thanks for the review. You might want to re-read it and check for repeated statements.
  8. I think overall the Browning is currently a better choice. If you want a truly accurate semi-auto, take a look at something in the AR platform. Check local bans, er I mean laws, before purchasing one though.
  9. The .30 bullet is going to be the best choice for long range hunting. Beats the wind better and carries more downrange punch. Whether or not you're lucky enough to get an R1 that'll shoot MOA or less... that's a different story.
  10. Looks great to me. If you shift that last pattern up by about four inches, it's lights out for sure.
  11. Overall, the bulk of the patterns appear to be a bit low. You'll need to cover his head with the bead to get it back up there.
  12. You sure sound like you've got the drill down on that one
  13. You want the least amount of drop, so here are the shims you need to install. With the barrel pointed down towards the floor and the butt towards you, install each piece in the order listed and with the letters turned up (towards the butt) Plastic drop shim - Z Plasic deviation plate (cast shim) - DX Gun stock Steel Locking Plate - ZDX lock washer lock nut recoil pad
  14. Glad to help. The stock is adjustable to some degree with the shims (cast and drop), but it's probably going to be a bit tricky to get a true custom fit from this stock. Difficult to shorten and impossible to bend.
  15. Check ebay, gunbroker, etc. You may also want to consider buying a black barrel and having it dipped. Could still come out well under retail.
  16. The sight should unscrew, yes.
  17. Can't help you there. Check your e-mail on the hotmail account listed in your profile. You have a message from Benelli customer service. They need your mailing address
  18. BTW, gobbler. Square cut threads will have a flat apex and valley, whereas V cut threads will have V shaped apex and valley. V's are easier to machine and are used unless heavier resistence to shearing is required. The square cuts give more large surface contact and do not shear as easily.
  19. I'd like to lay hands on the two chokes side by side to be sure, but I believe the guy from Benelli is correct when he says that the choke will work, but will stick out more. The internal threads and shoulders match, but the crio barrels are threaded deeper into the tube. Having the tube protrude does no harm on the nova. The crio tube will work with the nova, but a nova tube won't work with a crio.
  20. I've seen them on gunbroker for around $1200 new. They'll cycle light loads just fine. I don't know about the trigger pull. You'll probably get good info. at shotgunworld.com in their beretta forums.
  21. He looks at home in this picture
  22. I'd swear Mossbergs were the best thing going if it paid the bills
  23. There isn't a model for the stock. The SBEII's recoil system is in the stock and the tube extends towards the butt quite a ways. In order for a stock tube to go in there, it would have to have a hole in it to accomodate the recoil tube or mount on the end of the tube. One could custom make something using lead shot to add weight to the stock, but the mercury reducer from C&H will acomplish the same thing. Some have said that the aftermarket pads from Limbsaver are better, some say not. Advertising is a funny word that means embellishing the truth for profit. ANY gun that's heavier and that uses gas to cycle the action will kick less. Simple matter of physics. After the physics set the gun in motion, your shoulder is there to stop it. Lessening and dispersing the impact with a good recoil pad helps. For practice shooting, you should perhaps consider a Caldwell Lead Sled . For field and range, a padded shoulder vest may also help.
  24. No. The printed manual is in multiple languages just like the online versions. Yes, the manuals come with the gun. Jiggles up and down? Sounds like a computer problem, unless you're sharing a room with Hogwild . I'll point someone at Benelli to this thread and see if they can contact you via e-mail. No promises.
