  1. Post pictures of you and your sister too. This will tell us if the dog is smart .
  2. butwhat, You bought the wrong gun. Lightweight Inertia guns kick a bunch, because there's little weight resistance and no gas vented to cycle the action. An Extrema2 would have served you much better. That being said, you can use mercury reducers from C & H Research to add weight and kinetic dampening to scrub off some recoil. They make a model that replaces the magazine cap and a model that replaces the limiter plug in the magazine. I dont know if the gun will function with both in place, but you can sure try it.
  3. Yes, people do hunt in Southern IL.
  4. I've just seen too many house dogs that seem to not want to leave the house on the best hunting days (freezing, windy, snowy).
  5. Check gunbroker.com and Gunsamerica.com for current prices on your gun or similar. I'd say $800 - $900, but I won't give you that for it.
  6. The signature isn't intended to be partisan. If the GOP offers up a good man, I'll vote for him, as I always have. If they offer another fool, I'll seriously look at the other side.
  7. I would recommend that the dog be kept outside if it's at all possible. I've seen some good dogs ruined by allowing them to stay in the house. They have no cold hardiness. likwid, I'd be glad to train your girlfriend for three days .
  8. Looks like he's already found his favorite chair . Great looking pup! Good choice.
  9. Calling is the best bet. If you'd like to send an e-mail into a black hole anyway, go here and click a state near you. You don't need a registration card to obtain warranty service. Just keep a dated proof of purchase (receipt). You can download manuals from this site or manuals and parts lists from the Italian site.
  10. I think you kids needs to recheck your clocks since last weekend. We sprang forward an hour, not back three years! ...and stop smokin' that ****
  11. The manual for SBEII is also available from the US site. Click

  14. Sorry to hear about that, TMAC. These articles may be helpful. http://www.ygrr.org/doginfo/health-lymedisease.html http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&A=1588&S=0&SourceID=42
  15. I agree with your parents. Papers don't flush, point, and retrieve... dogs do! This will also give you the opportunity to learn to work with and care for a dog, without investing $1,000. Not that you're not going to care for it, but you can kind of get your feet wet with this one. If things go well, you'll have a great dog. If not, you'll have experience and $1000 towards the next one.
  16. I'm pretty sure he means that he's a mod on the new forum that was linked in his post.
  17. I don't think too many of them do the trigger guards. They would have to strip out all of the parts. Added labor and liability.
  18. SgtCathy, How about getting all geared up a snapping us a picture? I'd ask M1014 to do the same, but my lasik cost me $2500 and I don't want to void the warranty .

Jim, I think it could be either or a combination of both. Clean the gun and run another 50 through it. Hold the gun firmly against your shoulder, but not too tightly. Too tight and stiff can be just as much of a problem as too loose can be. Here's a link to my cleaning guide , in case you want it. Keep us posted!
  20. Looks great!
  21. One state. One county. One gun. One load. One good friend. Plenty of birds.
  22. Most R1 owners agree that the factory trigger is too heavy, so you may want to have a smith look at yours. The trigger is not user adjustable as some bolt action triggers are, so it requires a skilled hand. The barrel should be broken in following generally accepted and published guidelines. Whether the break-in is necessary or whether or not it helps is always open for debate, but there's no harm in doing it, and there could be some gain. Did Cabelas mount the scope or have you done that yourself? As with most anything gun related there's a right way, a wrong way, and whole lot of in-bewteen when it comes to scope mounting. With a fine piece of glass like that, I would have used the Burris signature rings with the inserts. The hard plastic inserts not only protect the scope from ring marks, but they also eliminate the need for lapping the rings as they give just enough to true everything up nice and snug. There are many discussions here regarding tips, tricks, frustrations, problems, and accomplishments with the R1, so spend some time and browse the forums for answers to questions you didn't even you had
  23. Mr. Alan Gottlieb, Chairman Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms 12500 N.E. Tenth Place Bellevue, WA 98005 Dear Alan: They say that hindsight is always 20-20. In my case, hindsight has been a hard teacher, like the father teaching the son a lesson about life in the wood shed. I was wrong when I recently suggested that wildlife agencies should ban semiautomatic firearms I erroneously called “assault rifles” for hunting. I insulted legions of my fellow gun owners in the process by calling them “terrorist rifles.” I can never apologize enough for having worn blinders when I should have been wearing bifocals. But unlike those who would destroy the Second Amendment right to own a firearm – any firearm – I have learned from my embarrassing mistake. My error should not be used, as it has been in recent days by our common enemies, in an effort to dangerously erode our right to keep and bear arms. I would hope instead to use this spotlight to address my hunting fraternity, many of whom shared my erroneous position. I am a hunter and like many others I had the wrong picture in mind. I associated these firearms with military action, and saw not hunting as I have known it, not the killing of a varmint, but the elimination of the entire colony. Nothing could be further from the truth, but I know from whence it comes. This ridiculous image, formed in the blink of an eye, exerts an unconscious effect on all decisions that follow. In seeking to protect our hunting rights by guarding how we are seen in the public eye, I lost sight of the larger picture; missed the forest for the trees. My own lack of experience was no excuse for ignoring the fact that millions of Americans – people who would share a campfire or the shelter of their tent, and who have hurt nobody – own, hunt with and competitively shoot or collect the kinds of firearms I so easily dismissed. I recently took a “crash course” on these firearms with Ted Nugent, to learn more about them and to educate myself. In the process, I learned about the very real threat that faces all American gun owners. I’ve studied up on legislation now in Congress that would renew and dangerously expand a ban on many types of firearms. The bill, HR 1022 sponsored by New York Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, is written so broadly that it would outlaw numerous firearms and accessories, including a folding stock for a Ruger rifle. I understand that some of the language could ultimately take away my timeworn and cherished hunting rifles and shotguns as well as those of all American hunters. The extremist supporters of HR 1022 don’t want to stop criminals. They want to invent new ones out of people like you and me with the simple stroke of a pen. They will do anything they can to make it impossible for more and more American citizens to legally own any firearm. Realizing that what I wrote catered to this insidious attack on fellow gun owners has, one might say, “awakened a sleeping giant within me, and filled him with a terrible resolve.” I made a mistake. But those who would use my remarks to further their despicable political agenda have made a bigger one. I hope to become their worst nightmare. I admit I was wrong. They insist they are right. Enclosed, you will find a check that is intended to be used to fight and defeat HR 1022. I also hope it inspires other gun owners to “do as I do, not as I say.” I’m putting my money where my mouth should have been, and where my heart and soul have always been. I know the Second Amendment isn’t about hunting and never has been. My blunder was in thinking that by working to protect precious hunting rights I was doing enough. I promise it will never happen again. I don’t know what lies over the horizon for me. I am not ready for the rocking chair. I’m going to devote every ounce of my energy to this battle. I will remind my fellow hunters that we are first, gun owners. Whether we like it or not, our former apathy and prejudices may place that which we love, hunting, in jeopardy. I will educate fellow outdoorsmen who mistakenly think like I talked, even if I have to visit every hunting camp and climb into every duck blind and deer stand in this country to get it done. I was wrong, and I’m going to make it right. Sincerely, Jim Zumbo
  24. Ducks and other birds see in the UV spectrum. Many household laundry products contain additives which brighten UV colors as well as the colors we see. If you wash your camo in these products then they will look like they're glowing to ducks, even though they look OK to you and me.
  25. It will fit the SBE2, but not perfectly. Tried one briefly. Slight gap at the trigger guard and you have to do some light drillingbut it's workable. Still, not proper to advertise it as such without disclaiming the variances.
