  1. i have a nova and it will be an ideal gun for pheasant that is what mine is for and quail and turkey and chukkar whatever getas inthe way during that season. i have been thinking about getting the reducer what kind of price is it thanks rob k
  2. i would suggest the improved cylinder or maybe the modified if you wish but if your wanting to improve your choke tube count you can buy the skeet tube and just add it to the count. i have shot quail and dove with im or ic and had good results rob k
  3. to me the nova is the best pump out there and won't shoot another one. i went for the bennelli over the remington 870 express which is a good gun in it;s right but the bennelli is tops in my minds eye rob k and i shot some 3.5" and the nova held it just fine and didn't throw me like a couple of other pumps i shot. also they have a unit you can add to the nova to help you with recoil and will also help if you have a longer lop as well
  4. i went withthe primos tight wad in the .655 andit is one pattern filling piece of work with the winchester hv magnumx #6 shot. if there is still a problem then i would, you might want to try a different choke and see if itr works for you. wish i could help you in contacting the guy but no chance i don't really know him but i hope you get your issues settled very soon rob k
  5. hope this works it;s my first time rob k [ 03-15-2005, 04:12 PM: Message edited by: robk ]
  6. sometimes you get a gun that only shoots a certain type of shell and that is it. i had it happen on two guns one beign the verona i just traded off for my bennelli nova. the cycling of the round may have to do witht he type of casing as well and i had watched each shell and tried different ones until i could get it cycle correctly. with a semi automatic you may find that possioble more and more. so far ith most of the people i know who shoot bennelli i have heard of one other but i think maybe the gun might need to go back to bennelli and have them check it out as it coould be soemthign minor that is causing the problem. hard to say. i went back to what i knew would work for me and that was the nova. with a pump you control the ejection rob k
  7. went out today to shoot my nova for the first time and to get it set up to shoot for turkey season. now i have had good shotguns in my time but this was amazing.loaded my first round and at 30 yards had the target of the turkey head t chest and let the first round go and took the head off the turkey target and filled up the chest part with lead. one shot and one kill. then i moved back to 35 or 36 yards and shot the 2nd shot and i missed the target completely so i was miffed as i know it;s me that causes the problem and i dropped the barrel as i was shooting and completely missed so my dad walks down adn as i am coming down he says you missed which i look athe target and shake my head and i tell him i won't miss the next one. go back to the 35 or 36 yards and this time i don't drop the barrel and my dad goes down and looks back and says if he was a turkey he would be table fare. i have never had a gun like the nova it was the first three shots out of the gun that were deadon and the miss i knew it was me. i havenever owned a gun tha ti didn't have to move it a little left or right to make it hit where it is supposed too and this gun was dead on. winchester supreme hv #6 shot and the bennelli nova 12 g and a primos tight wad turkey choke it doesn't get any better than that guys and gals and i am lovin this shotgun already lol just wante dot pass this along to you thanks rob k

    new gun

get a bore snake anduse it and run it thru before you shoot it gets any little junk that was in the barrel before you shoot it out. i als recommend the snake as it is a great way to shine the barrel as you go thru and is worth every penny and will alway keep you clean and for in the field and break in time i use it for that and will have it this weekend as i just got mine a few days ago and am pumped about my nova for sure lol. my father says i am anal abotu my weapons and i do worry about performance and a clena bore is a happy bore in my books and for break in shoot one and clean andf then go to three round and clean and maje sure you let the gun cool down after a few shots and depending on setting up for turkey make sure youkeep everything clean. then you hav eno problems with hang ups and other problems you cn end up with i am loving my nova what a gun rob k

    Chokes

i am using a primos turkey choke it;s called the tight wad and it is a .655chamering which will make for a real tight pattern. i am going to shoot either a 2 3/4 or a 3 inch round in either a 4 5 or 6. i actually prefer the number 6 shot and i use what i think is the best in winchester supreme. we have also a number 6 remington high velocity round but i think the one i am going to use is the nubmer 6 winchester and will know for sure whether it is 2 3/4 or 3 inch when we pattern this weekend. witht he nova i know i amc apable to shoot 3.5's but with a good gun my nova and some goos ammo the winchester supreme then i am in the right park. also i like the 6 better it seems to pattern well in my old gun and will see which i am sure it will the number 6 will work just fine iun my nova. i like the tightwad choke from primos is ported which i like a lot it will help with reducing recoil as well and save your shoulder/ good luck to all and enjoy a safe turkey season rob k we are a two tom region so one will be with bow if i get the chance lol
  10. i got a response saying they had an add on sims for the nova a slip on style but i am not interested in that. i want a direct to the butt of the stock rob k

    Gun Stickers

where did you get he window stickers on the site? i have been wanting one but not sure where to get them. thanks rob k
  12. hey commando i have heard that about people buying new beenelli's and selling their other guns. i and my dad are getting ready to go shooting and get ready for turkey season and i am going to get the primos extended turkey choke. it is a good choke i have heard for turkey and shoots a good tight pattern. it won't cost you an arm and leg either i can't decide whether i am going to shoot a 2 3/4 or a 3 inch mag in #6 shot. with my other shotguns for turkey i shoot #6 high velocity and they work excellent so i will try them first and see how the bennelli works out for me and then go from there if i need to go down on shot. rob k
  13. i bought the gun and i am going to have to head for the shooting range and shoot up a few boxes of shells at trap and skeet and see how it goes. i do like the feel but he slide is a bit loose but i haven't found a slide that wasn't a bit loose and noisy but if your trying to take down birds or trap or skeet it doesn't matter if it does it's job lol i know i am going to enjoy the gun already lol rob k

    Gun Cleaners

yup that is what i have and it works great rob k
  15. thanks i will do that and send them in the copy of receipt and the yellow card thanks rob k
  16. thanks ohio i will remember to use the 3.5's for duck and goose. i knew i would liekthe gun it just fit me and the only thing i might change is the recoil pad and will go with an extension and a sims maybe rob k
  17. i went witht he 28" barrel as i am going to use the gun as a goose and duck gun and i think the longer barrel will make for a good all around gun for me. the 26 is okay i think if your just goingt o shoot short distance shots but taking onducks and geese can make you wish you had a longer barrel an i will also be buying some exteneded chokes as well to get even more length for the waterfowl. it is also good for tutrkey with the 28 for that little extra distance you might take a shot you won't with a shorter barrel. with my old shotgun i was confident in the 40 yard range but with this 28 inch barrel and extended choke for turkey i will be able to pattern farther out i think and with confidence rob k
  18. i pciked up my nova today and am pretty excited about getting it. it seems more than adequate a gun and i am looking forward to shooting her real soon. i know what from what i have heard she will make me happy to have her. i bet she is going to be a winner by next fall when i have her pumping out rounds at pheasant and quail. any others who shoot a nova please let me know what you think of shooting her. i am excited to know i can go up to a 3.5 inch shell with no problems if i want to rob k
  19. when i try to register on line i have problems with getting it to take is i need a valid first anem has anyone else had this happen to them and what should i do i have emailed the company rob k

    Gun Cleaners

i just picked up some new stuff form hoppes and it is enviornmentally safe and no smell like most of the solvents and oils have. i have not tried it yet but the local armors of two police stations said they started using them on their tact team weapons and found them easier to clean and store and took half the time the next tiem to clean them up and also has a nice oil as well. i will try and let people know about it later on but the person i bought it from she has been a good shop owner and friend of mine and hasn't steered me wrong so far. give it a look see and maybe that will work for you rob k
  21. 22-250 is a great gun for varmits as is the 243 and the 223. these are tried and true calibers for varmits or predetors. the new 17hmr and the new 204 rueger is another great set up i believe for the same. i have a new 17hmr i am going to use for turkey this next season as well as shotgun and use it for coyote and rabbit groundhog and other little critters that need to be shot. you can find some good info on a place www.graybeards.com and some other sites like down south hunting as well. i know bennelli has some new rifles but think it is only two out at this time so i would look at either thompson center arms if you want a single shot or i would say definately look at he savage arms they have some great guns with great prices. the savage can be a set up with a nice little scope already set up and bore sighted and ready to go good luck rob k

    Selecting a gun

i have owned several shotguns including winchester and nverona and mossberg and browning and a couple of others and they all have their pros and cons but i got to play around with a nova and i have not shot one but am seriously thinking about buying one and i have shot skeet and trap with them i had one semi and the others were pump that is what i grew up on and am more proficent with the pump so i am wondering if anyone has shot them and what they think of the gun and i like the price i was quoted also thanks rob k
  23. i have found that the shotguns are like most rifles and even pistols and blackpowder guns that they will shoot one bullet over another and it may take a bit of playing around with to find out what your gun will shoot best. i have always trusted winchester ammo and have shot it for many years out of my guns i have owned. there is a roudn it will shoot it is just going to take some time and also i have shot both 2 3/4 " and 3" and sometimes the gun will shoot one better over the other. it's all trial and error pard rob k
  24. i am interested in a the nova shotgun and was curious to hear what people think of them. i have shot pump most all of my life and have tried the semi auto and find it hard to shoot as i find myself trying to work the forend like it was a pump so i have decided to go back where i started from. i am just an average hunter mostly bow hunt and some rifle and will go hunting for quail or pheasant now and then and i was told to try the bennelli nova since i was going this way. i would like to hear the pro's and cons of the shotgun or if there are any little tid bits that folks can bring to light for me. i do like the feel of the gun but not having a demo you can't really judge the slide though it was smooth unooaded you get a better feel of the gun when actually firing it and also what kind of recoil is there with the nova? thanks for any help you can give rob k this is my first post on the bemmelli forum so again thanks for yoru help
