  1. The Benelli M3 with ghost rings has adjustable rear and front sights, available. Maybe you could swap out what you have for the adjustable ghost rings. Your gun sounds like it would accept them without much work. Cause you were right in your inital post you need a taller front blade. Ghost rings would be a hinderance if trap, skeet, but if your after deer they would be perfect. You could zero righ in on that buck. The M3 is such a nice firearm you shouldn't have to aim low and cross your toes! If it were an old Makarov pistol or something I'd concur, but not an M3! Thats one fine piece.
  2. I believe the models with serial #'s 104800 or higher need the 617FA (or FGA.) You can find older models without much problem. If you want an "older" model you'll probably save some coin. Check your local shops, tell 'em your bringing in your firearm and see which model fits. (Of course you'd have your Form 4 with you ESPECIALLY travelling with the firearm, and the dealer would want to see it if they have a clue as to what they're doing) ) Def. a felony if you are a civilian and don't have the class III work done on that short barrel. Nothing under 18" on shotguns. If your LE see if your armorers will take care of it. Tax dollars hard at work.
  3. I get different results out of the same shotgun (even prone) depending on the brand of ammo thats being used. I know it sounds strange but it happens. Now 4-6 inchs is far to inconsistent for something to not be way off. When did you shoot this firearm last? Any problems then? Same type of ammo? It could be 1 of 3 things IMO, the firearm (ie. the sights, barrel, etc.) the type of ammo, lastly there is always the chance of operator error in combination with the ammo. Not saying your a bad shot but it is a possible varible, given the info. I have. I doubt its your shooting skills cause if you were flinching you'd be hitting low more then likely, not high. Hope you get it ironed out in short order. Good luck
  4. OHHHHHH man your killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've got me laughing my *** off. Oh my stomach hurts...There are so many openings I just gotta stop. We gotta end this thread. It is friiigggiiinnn hilarious, but we could go on forever with these jokes. The important thing is the inital topic has actually been covered. If a newbie searchs this sight for trigger work and finds this thread he should find the info. he needs. He'll definitely think we've got some A1 nutjobs (or comics) around here. Leave nutjobs as it was intended, please. I left it wide open with that choice of words. No seriously I gotta stop...
  5. If its a Benelli ext. it will be vaccum wrapped with a cardboard backing. It will (would) have Benelli written all over the cardboard in red. If it is indeed a Benelli ext. it should be flush if installed properly. Like nodark said try flipping the clamp. Also maybe you have the extension attached not flush.?? Its doubtful but maybe. It would explain the ext. sticking out. See if the ext. is on a slight angle. Main thing is like I said when you bought it initally it would be CLEARLY marked Benelli about 2 dozen times on the cardboard backing, the plastic was sealed to. Benelli on an angle covering the cardboard. No way to shorten it unless you wanna really gamble, or are a machineist.
  6. Yet another **** wasn't edited!!!! What gives??? [ 10-12-2005, 08:18 PM: Message edited by: FN_FAL ]
  7. Hey I slid two cocks by the edit program. Maybe its o.k. when talking about ****(rooster) fighting? That doesn't make a-lot of sense when this forum is about firearms. Still a funny *** thread.
  8. Great thread. Laughing my asssss off. Reminds me of something I saw the other day at my uncles farm . There were two cocks that are usually kept seperate, somehow both cocks got loose and the one **** bloodied the other **** pretty bad. I'd post a picture but I don't think I should post a pic. of a bloddy ****. I don't condone **** fighting and the pic. may imply that I condone **** fighting. Plus who the **** wants to see a bloody ****? Its so sad. Oh and about tuckers inital post, of course he's correct and I'd heed his warning about removing metal, once its gone it ain't coming back. I do trigger work on customers firearms (generally pistols) most of the triggers that I "lighten" have springs (and such) you can special order to go along with the trigger work. But its harder then one might think, you really need to know what your doing. I have a S&W 686 that I dramatically reduced the pull on. The downside is I made it so light the firing pin won't penetrate ceartin primers. I have a round that always works and the single action is awesome. Reason for this story is to add to tuckers caution. You can lighten a trigger TOO much, to the point where your firearm can't ignite primer's. Be wary.
  9. Nice find M1014. And your absolutely right. I happen to wok at a shop/range and if the customer is courteous his options tend to change. For example theres a very nice fella that frequents are range. He is a nice guy and has the whole family (from his 12 year old daughter to his wife) that come and shoot weekly. He and I were shooting the sh*t the other day and he wanted some 40 round mags for his MP5. They exist but good all metal ones are hard to find. (at a decent price) At the range we've got a bag you could fit a man into filled with every type of magazine you could imagine. None of it is for sale just stuff we've accumulated over the years. Well I go into the vault and bring out the "bag" I'm able to find 3 40 rd. high quality mags. and there also is a c- mag for an mp5 in there (I'm well aware of the beta). I talk to the owner and not only do I sell this nice guy the 3 mags for a very cheap price, the owner lets us take the c-mag out on the range. (We have LE train at our range and are able to get those betas, and we're class III) It was absolutely ridiculous. We had this tiny mp5 on full auto spitting out 100 rds. non-stop. Fun time. (After apologizing to the shooter on the lane next to us I gave him a box of ammo )The guy wanted to buy the c-mag but I told him that was a no no. I'm suprised the owner let us even take out the c-mag. Anyways back to your post your absolutely correct. You'd be suprised at what a little courtesy and frequent visits can get an individual.
  10. HAHAHAHAHA! I have and thats a good one. The joke that is, well, come to think of it and parts of that video!! Thanks for the laughs tucker, OH and I hope your continuing to keep the WASP exterminating in full gear. I figure we'll have them wiped out by 2010. 11. If I saw that friggin Moose and was un-armed I'd be flying up a tree, just like the squirrel tucker see's. I'm comfortable in an urban envirenment. That thing looks like Ray Lewis,(Ravens Pro Bowl Line Backer acquitted of accessory to murder type of guy) only its got a rack bigger then Pamela Lee's and is a wild animal. Come to think of it Ray Lewis is a wild animal as well.... I've also totaled a car hitting a deer about 1/4 the size of that moose. Like a brick wall. Pure friggggin muscle. Hey nice pic, though!
  12. As I typed the above you edited your post. I thought you re-posted your inital post becuse you didn't get the answers you were looking for. So you don't think I've lost all my marbles. Congratulations on your new baddass M3, Happy shooting!!
  13. benellioni, I apologize for turning this thread upside down. The M3 was NOT originally designed to double as a home defense/skeet shooting gun. Can it be done, yes. As jimikesteen pointed out he takes 1 of his 2 (lucky *******, and ones a M3ST) to the skeet range occasionally. I think he said he just does it for kicks, not because it is a superior skeet gun. The M3 is a GREAT home defense shotgun. If you want to shoot skeet you may look into buying a shotgun specifically designed for that. The reason I say this is barrels are notoriously expensive (you can find deals, but generally barells are at leats a couple hundred dollars). You could probably find a used skeet gun for the price of just a barrel at your local gun shop. Thats is what I'd do without any hesitation. Oh yeah and you have ghost rings on that M3? I'm a huge fan of these sights for tactical purposes, but at a skeet range I'd imagine they'd intefere with your sight picture, so you would not have much fun at the skeet range. Look around for a decent used 26-28" length pump shotgun with a bead. Keep your options open, I like Benelli's but there are other less expensive brands that are very capable out there. Good luck.
  14. Hey no sweat a nice firearm is just that, well maybe even a baddasss firearm is just that. And once again IMO the M3ST is one of the top dogs. (tactical which is all I really care about really)Man I love that friggin firearm. I told the guy thats been trying to sell his on one of the auction sites that with the sunset ban the ST's wouldn't be as valueable. Same thing for hi-cap mags, retractable stocks, etc. Basic supply and demand. (Why I oh so love machineguns, great investments and FUN) I offered him a slightly lower price and he didn't want to budge. Here it is almost 2 months later and he's got no bids. I go off topic with just about everyone of my posts so why break tradition? I think the SPAS-12 has to get some credit when one talks about the M3. I'm not 100% on this but I've handled both firearms and the M3ST is much sturdier IMO. B-U-T I do believe the SPAS-12 was developed prior to the M3. I'd have to do some research but I'm pretty sure the SPAS was the original modern (kind of) convertible shotgun. Maybe Franchi and Benelli were (are) one in the same somewhere along the bloodline. I don't know, just a guess cause the SPAS and M3 have some serious similarities. Maybe Benelli paid Franchi a hunk of cash for some patents. Kind of like the S&W Sigma that lost to Glock in court for patent violations. jimikesteen like I said above I'm pretty much 100% tactical in my shooting. I have plenty of offers to go skeet shooting but never end up going. Its that full auto MAN!! Anyway I here how it is on the skeet ranges, I can imagine the looks an M3 gets. Kind of if a guy came to my range with an O/U he'd be sticking out like a sore thumb. But who says sore thumbs can't look nice? To each his own. Adios
  15. Well I'm a local gun dealer and I have a puffy stomach kind of (to many Bass Ales), my chest needs some bench press' though. Yeah just jabbing with ya gotta stick up for those in one of my professions. " Most of these local gun dealers are puffy chested morons." At least you used the word "most" and not all. If you had said all forget the jabbing I'd have to go for the rear naked choke sleepy time. That sounds kind of puffy chested but its to be taken in jest. Anyways you guy's covered the auto/convertible issue pretty well. One thing I don't think I read above was that the convertible was initally geared towards LE for non-lethal rounds that didn't have the uumph to cycle the bolt. This is my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think it was meant to double as a skeet gun. Especially the M3ST. It can be done but thats not what its inital design was for IMO. One of my favorite tactical shotguns of all time is the M3ST. Man jimikisteen your one lucky duck not one but 2! I think I recall you posting a pic. of the M3ST and it looked slick. Theres one for sale on one of the auction sites for 2000.00. Supposedly its never been assembled. Pics look good but you never know over the net. Keep those guns down range and happy shooting.
  16. I'm begining to think that LE's paperwork gets speeded up. Just pulling your leg. Maybe it depends on what item your selling. I work with a class III dealer. I sold a select fire MP5K navy trigger pack, drool, drool, (nib, my partner rarely even took it out of the box since the 86 ban) I wish I had that kind of control. Oh and it has the K grip, side folder, and a threaded barrel. I've since sold and delivered a Knights Armament suppressor to another customer.(sold suppressor after MP5) Well the guy I sold the MP5K to used to be my friend. I think its been 11 months and counting for us to get our paperwork back. The customer (no longer do I use the word friend) doesn't understand I have absolutely nothing to do with the time frame. Unfortunateley I'd say they take an average of 8 months for our company. Well I've treaded so far out of Benelli territory its not even funny. I guess we know what my passions are. Oh yeah can't forget the ladies.... Gotta have somone to clean all my firearms. JJ. Stay safe Red Cobroa and thanks for being a LEO.
  17. I was thinking it looked a tad short to be a SOCOM but it seemed like the logcal choice with all the other hardware pictured. IMO tax stamp throws people for a loop. But you're absolutely right and we pay a FEDERAL tax on our class III weapons/accessories. You did some good mods to make that look like a G36kurtz. I think I pointed out that civilans could own class III weapons, just alot of time and money for a 14" shotgun barrel IMO. If you work for the BATF sorry about the dig about the paperwork taking FOREVER, just stating the facts, generally speaking of course. Stay safe and happy shooting.
  18. There are several brands out there but one of the best are the SURE-FIRE tactical lights. That is probably what is on Red Cobra's setup (looks to be). I have one and they are extremely bright and durable. They have a pressure switch located on the fore end (where you naturally place your hand) that allows you to toggle the light off or on via pressure switchs. You really don't have to make any adjustments from your typical shooting stance in order to operate the light. It is a very nice light. The downside is they ain't cheap. Some shotguns cost less then the this particular set-up. If it is indeed the light I think it is. It should fit your M2 just fine. Their website is surefire.com. You can look at all there goodies and find more info. for your m2.
  19. EWWWW, AWWWW. NICE toys. B-u-t...... what Red Cobra failed to tell you ianjibs is he is either an LE officer(or something like that) or he has a class 3 permit, actually permits seeing the suppressor on the SOCOM MK23. I think that other firearm is a G36 with side folding stock, which is sweet, but can't tell if its select fire or not from the photo. (I don't see the 3rd position for the select fire..) Anywho nice setup's you've got there Red Cobra. Oh the main point of my post is, ianjibs, the barrel length of any shotgun you buy must have a minimun of 18" in length to be legal. You can obtain a 14" barrel legally by going through a class 3 dealer which will cost you a bunch of coin and take about 1 year till you get the 14" barrel. The BATF aren't known for there speedy paperwork skills. Way to much hassel for a barrel IMO, a machinegun is a different story however....
  20. Theres a nib M3st thats been on gunbrokers for over a month. The seller wants 2 grand, and is firm. I emailed him initally and offered him a lower price. It looks to be in perfect condition, but you never know till its in your hands. The M3 can definitely be used as a pump gun, in addition to semi-auto. One of the main reasons is for LE using low powered rubber pellet filled rounds, and other non-lethal rounds. The M3 doesn't have the option to specifically go pump in order to clear a round, thats ridiculous. You were given false info. I see you named your state properly Steve Beckman. Sorry for your gun laws. My state isn't much better. If only every where had gun laws like in Florida. CCW's no problem whatsoever for ALL legal gun owners. The way it should be.
  21. I can tell you there are pro's and con's to semi-auto shotguns in general. Biggest con in my book is can a semi-auto fail to cycle a round? Yes, but not likely with a Benelli, esp. the m4. I've only heard good things about the m2 but it hasn't been around all that long. The thing about a pump is you know it will cycle. I highly doubt you'll ever find yourself in a shootout in your home, but better safe then sorry. If I ever did have to shoot it out in a home defense situation I'd prefer a pump shotgun. A wilson scattergun is what would be likely used. The gun model the scattergun is built off of has been in mass production since the 1950's. Gotta stand for something to be around that long. Search around, ask guys in gun shops, there are many options out there. Best case scenario is you go to a range that lets you rent, you could shoot before buying which is a HUGE plus.

    TIKKA T3

tucker is correct . Both are made in Finland, in the same factory. Sako's do have some higher tolerances but the T3 is a nice piece just the same. My buddy has a T3 tactical with adjustable stock, cheekrest, etc. It shoots very well. However one of my favorite guns happens to be Sako TRG-42 chambered in .338 lapua mag. (in od green of course) Hit the gym before you attempt to shoulder the.338 lapua mag round. TRUST ME. That particular round has one **** of a kick.
  23. I use hoppes#9 as a cleaner. (given its not an old rifle thats been buried in cosmo) As far as an oil I use militec. Some people like it, others don't. I like it because first and foremost its a ****nn good lubricant as I've seen first hand on dozens of guns. Secondly if your in the military they'll ship you a bunch free of charge. (depending on there supplies, but its no bs their a good company that does what it can for our troops. That in itself pleases me. Its a homegrown product (made in my state) and I know guys that personally know the people over at their company and there good folks. I'm intentionally not posting the website and obviously I have no affiliation with this company or I would not of divulged what I have in this post. Well those are my main daily cleaning products. Oh and a silicone cloth or a lead away cloth depending on the firearms finish as a wipe down. Cleaning techniques vary on type of firearm. If you follow tuckers advice for a shotgun you should have no probs. Just know what your taking apart. I tell beginers (who are learning to dis-assemble any type of firearm) to disassemble your first part then re-place it. Then take off part #1 and #2 and re-assemble, and so on. Don't go on to a step until your 100% on how to re-assemble all the parts you've already taken down. Otherwise you may carry your firearm into a shop and pay someone to re-assemble your box of parts that was once a functioning firearm. I've seen it dozens of times. Good luck.
  24. I think Dr-Burns is actually GG or The Gun Guy under a different handle. C'mon GG, I mean Dr-Burns you can be honest. Hey Burns why did you even join this board? To trash talk a respected member like tucker thats helped many people with good advice? Why not button it if you don't have anything positive to contribute. Don't let the door knob hit ya where the Cane Corso should of bit ya...
