  1. I'm guessing your talking about a magazine ext. It requires a flat head screwdriver, and some patience. Make sure you get the spring in properly. You can get the spring in, put the magazine on, and tighten it up only to find your 3 shot ext. is only allowing you to add one extra shell. This means the spring is kinked so you need to take it apart and start over. Be careful when loading the spring cause it has a habit of getting away from you and shooting across the room. If it hit you in the eye you could do some damage. A pair of glasses is a good idea. Where your shooting glass's if you own them. Good luck and remember PATIENCE.
  2. Once again I log onto the Benelli forum and laugh out loud thanks to tucker301. tucker301 you may want to consider stand up.

    flashlights

They're bad ***. We turn the lights completely off at an indoor range and go through a maze with varying re-active targets. (it's pitch black) the surefire's completely light up what your aiming at. They ain't cheap but you get what you pay for.

    trap loads

The first time I shot slugs at paper targets there would be two holes in the target per shot. Had me scratchin my head cause I knew a slug wasn't going to fragment from impact on paper. That day I learned about wad's. Anyways that was years ago, however I still enjoy blasting various items with slugs. (bowling pins are nice, tougher than you'd think) What the heeelll is the point of my post? Oh yeah, all I ever see is cups these days and I see hundreds of diff. shells per month.
  5. Mossbergs aren't that bad of a gun. The 500 series models are kinda cheap, but generally you get what you pay for. I've had an M590A1for several years and its as sturdy as a rock. I treat it rough and it keeps on ticking. If your going to get a Mossberg spend the extra money and get a parkerized finish. The 590 is just as reliable as the 870 I own in my oppionon. On a different topic I wouldn't recomment using .223 for home protection! That load has far to much velocity, you'll end up killing some kid a 1/2 mile away. Stick with a shotgun for your home defense. No two ways about it.

    how much??

Even though my friend and boss is a class III dealer (as previously mentioned) I wanted to get an FFL for myself. The main reason is so I would be able to get firearms at dealer prices down the road. However now a days you have to maintain a "store front" before our good friends at the BATFand E will issue one. As I understand it. Well I missed the bus on that one. Its like the machine gun law in 86. (I was only 13 then) I would have bought as many machineguns as I could afford in 85 if I knew than what I know now. A 500 dollar gun than could fetch you 15,000.00 now. Plus you could go full auto. yeehaw!!!!!!! I know a guy that scooped up a bunch of auto sears back than for peanuts. Now there worth thousands. A little piece of metal machined the right way....

    how much??

Its like you said mudhen "Kinda hard to stay in business processing someone else'e gun sales for $25......." I know the stores in my area charge 50 bucks to the average joe. If we CAN'T get the type of firearm a customer is looking for we'll knock off 15 bucks. Its unusal being that we're a class III dealer, but occasionally we can't get something. On a different topic tucker301 the guy's you know that hold FFL's do they have gun shops? I know you didn't have to own a "store front" in the past in order to obtain an FFL but I believe its necessary now a days. Purpose of my question is do they let you keep your FFL if you had it prior to the criteria changing? Do they grandfather it in?
  8. I've never fired shot out of a rifled barrel. However I'd recommend against it. Your bound to screw up the barrel.
  9. Nova H20 with ext. is 7 + 1 of 2 3/4" shells. So its a 3 shot ext. However if you use a larger shell than you'll get only 6 + 1 so it's a 2 shot ext. Now that I actually have an extension on my nova I'm positive.

    Nova newbie

cthair, you've gotten several good pieces of advice on this thread. If I were you I'd keep the 500 for your desire to have a home protection gun.(given its an 18.5"-20" persuader, cruiser, etc. or meets your requirement as a HPG) The reason I say this is that a gunstore will maybe give you 150 bucks for it. I'm being general obviously because I've never seen the condition of your 500. I do know from managing a gun store that the owner never offers more than 1/2 the guns value if that. So keep the 500 and buy a nova with a minimal barrell length of 24" for clays etc. If you do ever sell a gun try selling it to a buddy. A gunstore will give you pennies on the dollar because they can. Selling a gun is something you'll probably regret down the road.

    chokes

I told myself I'd stay out of it, but the orange jello thing had me cracking up. Now this latest post I can't keep my trap shut. I'm laughing my asss off. I prefer cherry flavor. I'm now just as guilty as GG for talking about nothing that has to do with the thread. I apologize to all looking for info. on chokes. Actually chocholate pudding is really good to..... Have a good weekend all.
  12. Militec works very well. I'm slightly biased because it is manufactured in my state. All bs aside militec kicks butt.
  13. Mann and sons doesn't have a website that I'm aware of. Try going to calssportingarmory.com. Shoot them an e-mail about the mag. extension. There website says its out of stock but it hasn't been updated since 3/22/05. They may be able to get it for you. Your right the gun looks much better with the ext. on it plus its 3 extra rounds! (of 2 3/4") You win with form and function. Did you try the people that are sending you the gun? Good luck.
  14. I'm not sure I understand your question.... You can shoot any type of shot through a cylinder choke. From birdshot to slugs without damaging the choke. Its the most versatile. (Actually just a bigger diameter.) The one thing I know your missing is your asking about chokes in a thread about an H20 magazine extension. Not that I care but you asked. Punches

brownells.com has it all. Low end through high end. You can order online. If you call them ask for a catalog. They've got all kinds of goodies. Good luck
  17. I work for a class 3 dealer who has the most kick *** collection of private guns you can imagine. Everything from a fully auto mpds5 up to a Ma-Deuse. Even an mg42. That gun is my favorite. It has a cyclic rate of up to 1800 rds. per minute! Millatary had to specially train our troops not to turn and run when they heard that motha in battle in WWII. The reason I mention the above is becuase I was curious about the M3 folder question myself so I asked him today. If anyone knows its my boss. jimikesteen is correct about converting the m3. It can be done ONLY if the firearm was imported prior to 89. Legally that is.
  18. getting a BATF stamp is a pain in the you know what. Even if you work for a class 3 dealer. A year as long as two. Some people are lucky and get it in 8 months. But I think you're correct .
  19. lwalthal, You can swap barrels on your nova. Make sure that your sights are going to be the same on the various barrels. Barrels can be quite pricey, you may want to do a-lot of searching as to save some loot. Good luck.
  20. Your quite welcome. I have one and its a nice shotgun. I have the nickel mag. extension which lets you load 7+1. (if your using 2 3/4" shells.) As you probably know its chambered up to 3.5" for the masochists out there.
  21. Gunsamerica.com has a couple for sale currently. Ones 419.00 the other is 429.00
  22. I agree with your entire statement. It all depends where /who you live with as well as other factors. With out a doubt the shotgun is by far the best home protection firearm there is if you are comfortable and able to control it. I've dealt with women who live alone and they aren't comfortable with a shotgun. Once again there are many varibles involved. I just saw 9mm and got a little carried away. If your using a pistol for home protection and your not on a farm in the middle of nowhere I'd recommend Glaser rounds. Some people are skeptical but we've shot all kinds of "targets" with them and they will get the job done. However sheetrock would stop all or most of the energy of one. I'm probably saying stuff many of you are all ready aware of ...... I have to close with saying anyone that buys a firearm for home protection should without a doubt take a shooting class in home defense. tucker301 I've always enjoyed your posts, you'd be suprised at how many people I encounter that don't think about what you pointed out in your post.
  23. I have to interject here. 9mm? Do yourself a favor and get at least a .40 caliber. Glock is a good choice and you can get high cap mags for many calibers. I even have a magazine that holds 31 rounds of 40 cal. All of the LE in my area has switched from 9mm to .40 caliber. Many federal agencies are doing the same. .40 caliber is suprrior to 9mm. Another nasty round that's out there is .357 sig. Basically a bottle necked .40 caliber. 10 mm is fun but takes a while to get used to. 9 mm will work but there are better choices out there these days IMO.
  24. farmerben I just read your post. Hopefully you've gotten your ext. on. Anyways I have an unrelated question. I thought firearms were banned in the U.K. I think I heard somewhere they have a few hunting clubs but are strict and you can only own hunting rifles that were grandfathered in. If you read this I'd be interested to know the real story on gun ownership in the U.K. (I'm thinking pistols are definitely a no go) Take care.
  25. I have a nova h20 and like it. I just bought it because it was so cheap. It was used(10 shells) and the guy selling it was desperate. One of the perks of working at a gun shop you get dibbs on anything used that comes in. Some guys I know argue that you can't compare the nova to the 870 because the nova is a relatively new model where as the 870 has been around forever. I see both sides of the story. You can practically hammer nails with an 870 and it will still work for ya. My solution is own one of each. Why not get a Moss M590A1 as well? I got a mortgage to pay people!
