  1. I have taught some young boys and girls using my short stock, 20 gauge Monty with the 24 inch barrel for years. I use the weak, inexpensive rounds from Wal-Mart. Usually 7/8 ounze of #8's. As your son grows, you can buy a regular size stock for the Monty. The weight, just a tadd over 5 pounds, also makes a big difference with smaller shooters. This little shotgun is also quite handy against Bobwhite's. Sgt Cathy
  2. Hummmm...a machine shop?! Perhaps your friend could fashion a bayonet attachment? Say, for the long 17" M1917 US series bayonets. How cool would that be ?? SgtCathy
  3. Hello, I bought a short stock Monte 4 years ago that I use for skeet shooting and for Quail. Usually I get the cheapest and lightest shells I can find at (WM)department stores. In previous years, I shoot one or two rounds of skeet and my poor shoulder is finished for the day. With my little Monte, I stay at the range for hours. I have also introduced skeet shooting to some young teenage friends (2 girls and 1 boy). It's a beautiful shotgun to teach new shooters with. Completely dependable. SgtCathy
  4. Hello Everybody, I have a 20 year old H+K imported S90 M1 defense configuration that I have demonstrated countless times with mixed loads of 3 inch all the way down to 2+1/2 english loads. Slugs to 7/8 ounce of #8. Letting fellars rip off 8 rounds of whatever they had at the range (mostly fired from the hip or tucked into their sides) always brings a smile. I'm still waiting for my black beauty to jam. I wonder how many folks ordered Benelli's after shooting mine. Also have a 4 year old, short stock 20 gauge Monte, that on occasion, has missed a Quail or two and some Grouse (okay, missed lot's of Grouse), but never because the Monte failed to fire. It's those darn bifocals the eye doctor has me wearing. Yes, I have some nice 20 gauge Remingtons, both 1100 and 11-87 models and a nice 20 gauge Browning Citori Upland Special. They don't seem to get out of the gun safe much anymore during the bird season. Not sure about the problems I read on this forum about the SBEII's, but I'm extremely happy with my Benelli's !! SgtCathy
  5. I have a short stock little 20 gauge Monte that chase Quail around with and on occasion, late at night, while watching a super scary movie, I have my H+K imported Super 90 S1 defense shotgun, close by. Usually not far from the bowl of popcorn SgtCathy
  6. Hi Folks, About 10 years ago I went to an official Benelli dealer way up near Boston. He had four very high priced Benelli's in stock and extra barrels! These shotguns were way out of my league and I went into sticker shock. A week later I was back with my checkbook in hand ready to buy and all the Benelli's plus the barrels were gone. So my question is, do the new Bennelli Mudhen shotguns come in 20 guage with shortened stocks for women?
  7. Hi Everybody, Don't have one of the M4's so I don't have to worry about the M4+2 magazine extension. I do have a HK imported Super 90 M1 in Defense configuration. My seven shot magazine looks just perfect compared to the +2 extension with it's slimmed down "grooves". JustPassingBy is right on when it comes to looks. Of course when it gets down to poor drooling, just look at some of the pictures M1014 has posted
  8. Hi Everybody, At the local gun store I snoop around in, when you walk in, hanging from the ceiling are many shotguns, rifles and pistols that people have fired with the wrong ammunition. Burst barrels, chambers and actions blown apart. Sort of an unspoken reminder to use only what the manufacturer recommends. SgtCathy
  9. Hi M1014, Is there any special sequence for determining production dates? I purchased mine in October 1986. My H+K imported Defense Benelli is marked (AP). It's an all black M1 Super 90 with pistol grip, 7-shot magazine, 19+1/4 inch barrel with plain rifle sights. At the same time, I purchased the matching black 28" ventilated barrel with screw in chokes and a standard stock. Yes, the recoil spring feels weak, but I have fired hundreds of rounds including British 2+1/2 inch loads up to 3" magnum (all mixed up) and numerous fast 8 shot strings, with absolutely no problems. My Benelli looks sort of plain compared with your dressed up M4's but I love it anyways. SgtCathy Cape Cod
  10. This sounds like a very interesting test. I'll try and see if my local gunshop can get some of the Aguila mini-shells. I have a H+K imported Benelli Super 90 M1 Defense model (Pre-ban) that I have demonstrated numerous times using light and heavy loads. The shells ranged from 2+1/2 inch British loads to full power buckshot/slugs and steel 3 inch, all mixed up. Never had a single failure of any kind and that includes many 8 shot fast strings, fired tucked-in next to the hip. Now I'm wondering about the minishells. Hum..... If I can get some of the Aguila shells, I'll report back here.
