  1. I have the police report already filled out including the serial number for MY STOLEN M4. Just waiting for you to finish tricking it out for me. (Hey, did I just say that out loud!?) Here in good old Mass, the dealer fills out a Mass form F.A.-10 on each firearm purchase, just in case you forget the serial number, make, model, length ect... It's done on a computer so they'll have all the information before you even walk out of the store. What bothers me the most is the post card I get about a week after shooting at the range, from the state criminal history board, reminding me to clean my weapons! I really need to relocate..... Where can I get a new roll of masking tape? My bayonet fell off the end of my Defense M1 S90 the other day while I was shooting? SgtCathy Cape Cod
  2. HEY, wait a minute! What's wrong with looking cool being the number #1 reason?? When SOCOMguy decides to start making bayonet adapters for the M1014 (and I hope the earlier model H+K M1 S90's) I'll be at the head of the line. I just happen to have a mint, Viet-Nam era US Model M1917 shotgun bayonet that needs to be mounted on a Benelli. (that's 16+ 1/2 inches of blade). Assessories make you look glam!!! SgtCathy Cape Cod
  3. Every now and then they show the Benelli plant on TV (Outdoor Channel) making all those neat shotguns. During the show they mention that serial numbers are placed on receivers and barrels because it's an Italian law. My defense model H+K M1 S90 has serial numbers on both and I believe it was manufactured in 1985/86. I purchased it in 1986. SgtCathy Cape Cod
  4. That's not a regular deer that Wingbone got. It's one of those giant radiation spawned, blood thirsty, brain eating mutant zombie deer, found only west of the Mississippi. That's why you need the the M1014
  5. I must be getting soft in my old age because the only thing I can think about is that your friend is okay. Every situation is different, which is why I have a large can of pepper spray near my bedstand. Hopefully an intruder(s) such as young teenagers will be convinced to leave after a face full of OC+CS. However, after a long career in law enforcement, I have learned that some criminals are just plain mean, stupid, drunk or drugged up and tend to be extremely violent when they come in contact with people. That's why in addition to the chemical spray I also have a .45 pistol and Bennelli available. Sure, they're plenty sorry the next day or when their caught, but by then the damage is done. I would encourage everyone, men and women, learn how to protect yourself and don't be fooled by what you read in the court news or on TV about how nice a person the criminal is. If you are attacked, they will be trying to kill you. SgtCathy Cape Cod
  6. I've made this comment before. In Taxachusetts, it's a crime just to have a picture of an M4, never mind the real thing. Catalogs sent here have to have selected pages ripped out. After veiwing this sight, I clear my history files from my computer..... SgtCathy Cape Cod
  7. I was in the Army Military Police for over ten years. One summer we were loaned 5 Marine MP's to assist us with the huge summer Army guard units. They were incredible. Their training with hand-to-hand and police batons and other procedures, far out shadowed any training Army MP's ever received. They looked sharp and were great to work with. With just 16 full time Army MP's plus those 5 USMC MP's versus 15,000 troops rotating every two weeks, we were kept very busy. If I could've just gotten them to call me "sergeant" instead of "YES-M'AM." SgtCathy Cape Cod
  8. I just received my DVD last week and I was a little disappointed that the material inside was dated 2006 :-( SgtCathy Cape Cod
  9. If your that close to an Alaskan Brown bear or a Griz to use a shotgun, you're aleady dead. But like the old timers say " At least I got the bear, that got me." Get a Marlin lever action carbine in .45-70 like the Alaskian guides carry. If you must have the M4, get sabbots shooting a solid metal slugs. Should be pretty accurate. SgtCathy Cape Cod
  10. The shotgun is okay.... but I really like the pretty colored shotgun shells. It's the accessories that make you look nice! SgtCathy Cape Cod
  11. Does anybody know how many M1014's have been purchased by other branches of the military? SgtCathy
  12. Would a short stock from a 20 guage Monty fit onto a Nova? The LOP would be 12+1/2 inches.
  13. Gee vt600c, Sorry about all the trouble you are having and I hope Benelli can resolve the issue soon. Feeling sort of guilty that my Defense model H+K imported Super 90 M1 (bought Oct 1986) and my light weight, short stock 20 gauge Monty (bought April 2002) work flawlessly and always have. Haven't heard about anybody having those many problems since about 20 years ago when Mossberg was having severe quality control issues. But Mossberg has made a complete turn-around and I'm hoping Benelli can make good on a Legacy that is everything you've wanted. Spoke with an old-timer and he suggested that if Benelli returns your Legacy with a new stock (or a new gun) that you loosen the stock and tighten it hand strength only. In short, perhaps it was over-torqued at the factory. Granted that sounds simple, but sometimes simple things work. I'm sure that the guys reading this post that work with metal and wood know all about torgue and what too tight can do. With the rush for so many folks trying to purchase Benelli's, it's possible they have gotten a little sloppy at the factory. Their used to be a Benelli dealer just west of Boston and I have seen and handled (more like drooled) over a few Legacy's so I understand why somebodyy would want one. Yes, I know, not very lady like. Best of luck to you with Benelli and borrow something from a friend and get out there shooting :-) Oh by the way, my little 20 guage Monty went out Saturday on opening day and their is one less Pheasent in Massachusetts! SgtCathy Cape Cod
  14. Yesterday, October 13, was opening day here in Massachusetts for upland birds. Took my little 20 guage Monty out for a walk and pushed a woodcock out of some heavy brush near a swampy area. Naturally I missed. Those little birds are fast! Later I flushed a hen pheasent from a field near a wood line (hens are legal on WMA areas) and that pheasent was no more than 15 yards out and climbing for the clouds when I got her. My light weight Monty and a load of 7+1/2 is all it took. Monday I'll see if I can find some quail. Does anybody else have any opening day stories? I love opening day :-) SgtCathy Cape Cod
  15. For those long days in the field, I carry a short stock, 20 gauge Monty with just two shells loaded. When I'm trying to imptress people I carry an older 20 gauge Browning upland model Citori with English stock. But, that even gets heavy after a few hours. The little Monty at just over 5 pounds can't be beat. Mine cost me $ 950, but that was a few years ago. SgtCathy Cape Cod

    Montefeltro

Think I'll make a comment to your post ifishbaja. Their are many people on this site much smarter about Benelli's than me. My first reaction when reading your post was "are you serious?". This is why I thought that way. My 20 guage Montefeltro is clearly marked "Montefeltro Super 90" on the receiver. My 12 guage is marked "Super 90 M1" on the receiver. Both shotguns are Super 90's but thier are many differences between a Montefeltro model and an M1 model. Two totally different birds using the same shooting system. So, what does your receiver say? Is it an M1 model or an Montefeltro model? Does your receiver say anything? Is it a Super Black Eagle (SBE) model? Perhaps a M1 field, Legacy, Sport Executive or Special Purpose Super 90. In short, explain in this forum exactly what the writing says on your Benelli and I'm sure that one of the much smarter regulars, will come up with the correct answer. Have you gone to the Benelli home page and tried to find out if 28" barrels are available for the model you have? That is, once you have figured out the model. This is a great site, but you really have to give the "experts" more information. And yes, your sarcasism was met with my sarcarism. Now, give this board more information and lets start enjoying our Benelli's. SgtCathy

    3 Grouse

Hi swamp- If I understand the ruling correctly, the National Seashore Feds will be phasing pheasents out over a few years. A token to pheasent hunters so they don't have to go cold turkey and have severe pheasent withdrawal. Pheasents weren't a resident bird and now have to go. Scratched my head on that ruling. So what, if they weren't around for the wampanoag indians or the earliest pilgrims. There isn't one single person that now visits the National Seashore that was around 350 years ago. Phase them out !! It's all about political correctness and here in Massachusetts, hunting (of anything) is definately a no-no. The National Seashore buckled under. But then, the major large department stores have all caved in. Sears and K-Mart have stopped selling any weapons or ammunition years ago in Massachusetts. Wal-Mart has stopped selling weapons and their is only one Wal-Mart within 50 miles of me that still sells ammunition. As for the Quail, I'm hoping they take well at the Seashore, but with many predators, I just don't see that happening. The future of bird hunting in Massachusetts is bleak. SgtCathy
  18. I hope your using steel shot and have your 2-shot limiter plug in place when turtle hunting. SgtCathy About to permanently retire in 3 weeks. Don't remember much about the last 40 years. Live in Taxachusetts. Spicy Brown on my dog, please!
  19. I have an original H&K imported M1 S90 in defense configuration. Bought it in 1986 for $560! The front sling mount does giggle a little and does not turn at all. It's the way the gun was designed. By the way, an extra 28 inch huntng barrel with 4 chokes and a standard stock cost me an additional $250 dollars. A lot of money for 1986. After all these years, I still dazzle people at the range with that black beauty. 7+1 rounds as fast as you please. Mine will shoot british 2+1/2 inch shells up to 3 inch magnum , all mixed up in any order and has never failed me. Been through police academy with me and loaned to friends for their academy. Years of semi-annual qualifications and more years of just fun at the range. SgtCathy US Army Military police (Retired) DoD Police Sergeant (Retired)

    3 Grouse

Still have another month to wait here in Massachusetts. Last year I was working an acre of young trees at the end of a large field, when I flushed a grouse. Naturally I missed as the grouse made for the far side of the trees. After circling around the trees, the grouse flushed a second time and instead of heading back into the trees he flew straight across in front of me and over a wide dirt fire road. After an entire lifetime of hunting grouse, I was witnessing the "magical" grouse flush in the open, I have heard about so often. After a slow and easy swing through with my 20 guage Monty, that grouse was mine. What was in that stand of young trees? A lot of berry bushes. Waiting another month will be tough. SgtCathy

    What to get?

The quick answer is to get the M4. Use it on the job or as a personnel defense weapon, you won't regret the purchase. Before the M1014, their was the S90M1 in defense configuration, imported by Heckler & Koch. During police academy shotgun trainging, their were officers from 7 towns represented, and of course the ferderal agency I belonged to. I had my S90M1 and all the others had mostly 870's and a few Winchester pumps. As the afternoon progressed and each person had fired over 70 rounds of buckshot and slugs, many of the pumps started to fail. Many officers started to flinch with each shot and their was some mild cussing heard. As for me, I was blasting away as fast as the range officer could blow his whistle. I even loaned out my shotgun to some of the officers so they could qualify. Over the years as we qualified semi-annually, I noticed the shooters using the pumps still had difficulties. Let's face it, unless you target shoot and/or hunt with a pump, you just don't learn to handle your pump instinctively and shooting 20 rounds of buckshot, twice a year isn't real training. Can you picture yourself in a real life high-stress shooting incident? Will you remember to pump the slide? Will you short stroke the pump and jam the gun? With the M4, you load the first round and then concentrate on your job and staying alive, not on working the pump correctly. I'm sure many folks will tell you they can out pump any sem-auto shotgun. Those folks also live with their pumps and shoot them all the time. Will you? Most officers dust their pumps off twice per year for qualifications. Get the M4 and shoot it often, knowing you have the best piece of equipment currently availble in a shotgun.
  22. Geez, I'm from Massachusetts. It's a felony just to look at a picture M4 and a misdemeaner to dream about one. I hope the Mass Criminal Justice board doesn't visit this site :-( SgtCathy
  23. I've introduced a number of young new shooters, boys and girls to skeet shooting. My 20 gauge Monty with the 12+1/2 LOP, using cheap Wally World shotshells is all I have ever used. The young kids love it. On a few occasions when I've seen a youngster struggling with his Dad's heavy pump shotgun, I've politely loaned the Dad my little Monty. The smile on their face when they can track the clay pigeon and shoot without getting spun around is priceless. Go with the little 20 gauge Monty. Get him a shooting vest with recoil pad if the recoil is still a problem. By the way, my Monty has never failed to function perfectly, ever :-) SgtCathy
  24. Quess I'm plain old-school; 50 round bandoleer, loaded with Winchester 2+ 3/4 inch buffered 00 Buck and Remington 2+ 3/4 inch foster slugs. 40 buck and 10 foster on the bandoleer. My S90M1 (early H+K defense model) 7 + 1 with sling. No sidesaddle, lights or special sights to snag on anything. Although I would love to place a heat shield on it. M1014's with heat shield looks really cool. My Mossy 590 with heat shield, sling and M9 bayonet ( 8 + 1). Special wood stock with 13 inch LOP. Bandoleer set up the same way. SgtCathy Cape Cod
  25. Thanks AFPJ....that was really cool :-) SgtCathy
