  1. My safe was shipped to me bolted onto a wooden platform made out of 4 by 4's and heavy cut planks. They were several inches larger than the base of the safe. I painted the wooden platform black. Keeps the bottom and rear of the safe ventilated and 4 inches off the floor. My safe is actually taller than me now. It took two men using dollies to get the safe in place. I'm shocked that M1014 let one of his "Queens" out for a breath of air. What about the dangerous ozone and gamma rays?? Soon those "Queens" might be showing their age.

    Happy Memorial Day

Spent almost two hours at the range today and believe it or not but three of the many shooters that showed up were Vietnam veterans (I'm a 10 year Vietnam ERA veteran). We all shot for about an hour and then the shooting stopped as we gathered around and listened to the three (in-country vets) tell stories about their time in "The Nam". Today was a great day at the range!

    Happy Memorial Day

I'll be taking my .30 M1 Carbine to the range and shooting off a couple of boxes. That's my way of honoring every single man and woman who picked up arms from the first Minute men to this very day. Firearms = Freedom !!!
  4. Oh Sure..... A couple of years ago when I mentioned attaching my 16+1/2 inch long, M1917 shotgun bayonet to my H&K M1 S90 (Defense Configuaration) using industrial rubber bands and duct tape, everybody laughed. Well.... who's laughing now?? Duggan stole my idea. I knew I should have gotten an US Patent. Duggan will make millions and all I'll have is memories... that, and the baddest Zombie slayer in Massachusetts !!
  5. Taxachusetts wants to change the state motto from "The Bay State" to the "NO GUN STATE". We will have to invent a new color, perhaps "yellow", for that nice map :-(
  6. Geez, Big M... You're drooling all over my computer monitor. Down boy !!
  7. I have one of the early H&K M1S90's in Defense Configuration, and the front sight is brazed onto the barrel.
  8. For me, a full size, full weight SW1911 .45 ACP is my "go to" handgun of choice. I have one of the early production models and this gem shoots far better than me. Second handgun is an old school S&W model 13-3 in .357 magnum with 4 inch bull barrel (think model 10 with a .357 length chamber). The .45 S&W shoots absolutely every thing and has never had any problems of any kind. Even though I'm fast approaching the big "60" in my life, I still blow out the 8, 9, and bulleye from a standard pistol target at 50 meters at the range while the other shooters, young, old, local police types, are printing all over their targets. Also still practise shooting at small cans, with my pistols, on the 100 yard rifle range (back stop is 110 yards) and hitting a few. In my early years shooting at moving targets at 100 yards, I was known for my ability to hit them with a pistol, but my eyes are no longer the same as when I was a young woman and those cans are getter more difficult to see. I may have to switch to old large 5 gallon paint cans for the next 10-20 years. As for the old school revolver, I have lived overseas and in many states of our great country and have never come across a store that doesn't carry some sort of .38 ammunition. Be it .38 shorts, .38 old police, .38 wad cutters, regular .38 specials or hoards of .357 stuff. So if zombies are the rule rather than the exception, I should still be able to find something to feed at least my revolver. Plus after all these years, an old fashion revolver is still a fun gun to shoot.
  9. Just trying to get a few laughs. After all, how many combinations of slugs, buckshot, BB shot can you list? (Geez, what a tough crowd!) I suppose you could pretend it's the 1890's and load up that M4 shotshell with a roll of dimes or perhaps a handfull of steel ball bearings. Rock salt anybody??? Fleshettes, are still the nastiest ammo you could put through an M4!
  10. Perhaps your buddy isn't telling you the whole story. Any shotgun company, Winchester, Remington or the many others, would consider a bulge in the barrel as abuse and as it states in the paperwork that comes with new firearms, "abuse" concels the warranty (real or implied). How did the bulge get there? Did somebody fire a 3+1/2 inch magnum in it? Did somebody overload a reloaded homegrown shell in it? Did the barrel has an obstruction when it was fired? Did it come from the factory with the bulge? It's great that you stick up for your friend, but no firearms company is required to warranty barrels with a bulge. I used to own a .22 bolt action repeater made by Cooey in Canada. The last two inches of the barrel was bent about 3 degrees from the previous owner. Should I have demanded Cooey to replace the weapon or at least straighten out the barrel? A friend of mine from many years ago reloaded his own shells and put a bulge in his Ithaca 37 barrel after loaded one shell with 4 loads of powder and 2 loads of shot (he couldn't even completely close the shell). Afterwards, he was not able to eject the empty and Ithaca flatly refused to replace or repair that shotgun. Many readers what be interested in knowing how the bulge got in your buddies barrel, including me.
  11. Is that a bolt modification I see ?! Oh the shame and pain.....
  12. Why was that political chat pulled? Whenever people are talking about a situation or person and they don't have the correct information or already know in their minds their wrong, they get loud and use profanity. This is mostly a "man thing" but some women also do it. The Internet really isn't the place for this and constant profanity doesn't belong on the Benelli chat site. (come on folks, grow up) Making comments about the President of The United States (any president), that involves veiled references to hate, racial slurs and physical harm, doesn't belong on the Benelli chat rooms and is subject to review by the Secret Service. If you don't like the current president "that much", is why we have elections every four years. Use of the "N" word on this chat site is not only wrong but also extremely illegal and could cause the Benelli sponsors a lot of grief and money and cause the site to be removed. In many circles of people, shouting, use of profanity, racial slurs and use of the "N" word is the "only language spoken". I'm not trying to change anybody by writing this and let's be honest, if that's how you talk and express your beliefs and feelings, you'll never change at this date. But none of that behavior belongs on an official sponsored Corporate chat room. And that's why that previous chat was removed.
  13. I have a Browning Citori, Grade 1, Upland Special in 20 guauge. Bought it new in 1990 (AKA- "Baby"), with a barrel length of 23 inches. Had the LOP shortened to 13". This is the model with the English straight stock and Snaubel forend and yes, it was manufactured in Japan. After 19 years, a lot of blueing has rubbed off and the stock has countless dings. This little 20 guage fits me to a tee and I'm amost embarrassed with the number of Quail, Grouse and Pheasents I've taken home with the help of this gem. Back in the day, I've actually has a few guy friends refuse to hunt with me because I never miss with the Browning. But then, they're using the same 9-10 pound, 12 gauge pump gun on quail, that they use on Geese and turkeys. Sometimes when the weather is extra warm, I'll bring out an old H&R single shot .410 shooting 3" number 7+1/2 shot. After all, a lady has to give the Quail a chance occasionally, right? No rust on my Citoi even with all the bare metal showing. Of course, I have a safe full of Remington 1100's. 11-87's and Browning Auto-5's all in 20 guage (and one auto Remy in .410) for other fun Quail days. Have I mentioned my Little Monty, Short Stock, youth model in 20 guage? Which one should I take out into the field on any given day??? The pressure is immense !

    Whoa Nelli!

So... exactly how do I get all this ink off my skin ???
  15. I have actually had the honor of meeting a Medal Of Honor recipient and shaking his hand. He was a belly gunner on a B-17 during W***. Even at his advance age, he is still a petite man with a giant warm smile. When they read his citation, their wasn't a dry eye in the hanger and then our local congressman presented him with a high honor from France. I just don't understand how anybody can look one of these real American heroes straight in the eye and say he can't fly his flag on a flag pole. Total disrespectful to a degree I can't fathom. Shame on that association.
  16. AARRRrrrrrr!!!! M1014, what are you doing !!!! What about the sun's gamma rays and toxins in the air!! Get those babies back in the safe where they belong. You don't want them to get wrinkles and sun cracks or (good grief) oxidation !!!
  17. You need to buy the little one a short stock, youth model, 20 guage Monty for her 1st birthday ! Congradulations !!
  18. How come guys don't have shoot outs over me? If it Spartanburg, S.C., then she is most lklely the only human female , this side of the mountain :-(
  19. When is the M1014 - Benelli Gun Store, going to be open for business?
  20. Hi Timb99, Actually, I already do that very thing. Learned that lesson with my 1100's. Keeps the fouling from caking on. The 11-87's have a stainless steel outer tube and the gas residue junk just wipes off. I also use 0000 steelwool for the spot just under the gas vent at the end of the season. Maybe if I wasn't watching TV while cleaning, it wouldn't take so long. Except for the problems I mentioned in my previous post, my 11-87 Special Field (20 guage) with it's 23 inch barrel and screw in chokes is one sweet shotgun perfectly made for Upland game shooting. I also make sure (as in all my Remington guns) that it's well oiled, especially the bolt and all rails. These Remy gas guns really know how to tame hard kicking shells. Still, they can't compare with my little Monty with it's slim stock and light weight for carrying around through the woods an entire day. Last year I added a sling to my 11-87 for those longer afternoons dealing with Pheasents (it's a secret so don't say anything). Some of my past hunting friends believe it's a sin to add a sling to a nice wood+blued steel field hunting instrument.
  21. I purchased an 11-87 Upland Special (straight English stock) back in 2001. The shotgun had a few factory flaws right off the bat. The tubuler magazine had a small dent about 2" into the tube and some very ragged burrs near the throat of the tube. This prevented the tube from being reloaded quickly and in some cases, not at all, plus completely chewed up the orange plastic shell follower. Since I was one week away from opening season, I made the repairs myself, and used a metal shell follower from an older Remington. After my repairs, the Remy worked perfectly. As in all modern Remingtons made with cheap manufacturing methods, the ejected shells receive burrs on the rims which need to be filed off if you reload or the shell is still live. The powder residue left on the gas system and mag tube is simply not to be believed after just 5 or 6 rounds. If after the hunt you enjoy sitting down and cleaning your weapon of choice, Remy's are good for you. And yes, I'm one of those crazy folks that like to spend 30 minutes in front of the TV cleaning my Remy's and reliving the days hunt. Their's just something about how a Remington looks and feels and when you get them working correctly, they are a dream (I'm hooked). HOWEVER, on most days when I just want to shoot and then get ready for the next days hunt, you'll see me with my Monty, day in and day out! Light, easy to carry, absolutely no issues ever and except for running a rag down the barrel every now and then, doesn't get cleaned until the season is over. Our Quail-Pheasent-Grouse season usually runs about 6 weeks. My Remy goes out about twice and the rest of the time it's me and my little Monty. Unless I'm hunting with a friend or two, then I use my special "show-off, never miss" CITORI Upland Special in 20 guage. But thats another story.

    Youth Models

With out knowing her height and weight, picking a shotgun can be tricky. I would recommend a 20 guage Monty with wood stock. Bring her to a gun shop and have her fitted for proper LOP. If she is around 5' 5" inches, a LOP of about 13" would be very good and a few companies have stock models with 13" LOP guns. If she is fairly short in height around 5' to 5' 2", Benelli has a short stock 20 guage Monty with a 12+1/2 LOP already made up. That Monty has a 24" barrel and weighs about 5+1/4 pounds empty and using light loads or hunting loads is a dream. I know, I own one. The 3" magnums are a bit tough. My little Monty takes down Quail, Grouse and Pheasents with ease and I can shoot it all day at the skeet range. In the field, I only place 2 rounds in it to keep the weight down and for self control when a covey burst. The little Monty's forestock is slim and balances well in my hands. A few of my guy friends that used to carry their heavy 12 guage duck guns into the field, have switched over to the smaller and lighter Monty's. My Monty is just over 7 years old and maybe I've just been lucky, but haven't had one single issue, EVER with it completely functioning.
  23. Thank you Duggan for your response. Most people would read your reply as "feeling the pain" of a fellow shooter, even if she was a woman. I appreciate the thought. I was at the local gun dealer this morning and he is on his 4th month of not receiving ammunition and is really feeling the hurt financially. Nobody in Massachusetts is allowed to receive ammunition without a FFL. Our State Attorney General has promised to go after any person or company that does with the full power of the law. Again, my local gun dealer is being told the ammunition companies are working 24/7 to produce ammunition but so many people are hoarding. Nobody believes that. He has been in the business for 30+ years and has many contacts and still the ammunition is not forth coming. Why? Nobody has a good answer. I can still buy .22's but don't know how much longer that will last. Needless to say, the price has gone up on them. This is so much like Massachusetts. Can't find a way to ban firearms, so dry up the ammunition and ban puchasing through the Internet and catalogs. Plan B. A friend that hunts in several states will try to find a few boxes of .45 ACP for me in October. Still have my M1 S90 in Defense Configuration and plenty of 00 buck and slugs (Zombie medicine).
  24. Around here in Massachusetts, firearms are being fased out in a completely different backdoor way. There isn't any ammunition except for .22 rimfire and their hasn't been any for many months. Nobody has any real idea what's going on and since in Massachusetts you can't order ammunition from catalogs or the Internet, our firearms are just wall hangers (with trigger locks).
