  1. Mine has been back to Benelli twice now, and with a new BCG the charging handle is still not tight, and is free to rotate about 30 degrees. Better than before, but still not snug as probably intended. Prior to sending in, I had replaced the charging handle, detent, spring and detent with the same results. I think that the recess in bolt body has been drilled too shallow...and is preventing the detent from extending far enough out to engage the charging handle with full-time spring pressure. Edit: Aside from that pesky charging handle, I love this gun. *Shout out to StrangerDanger for positing up so much useful info. His post on replacing the receiver extension gave me the confidence to take it on. Thank you!
  2. I'm certainly not taking that as any disrespect.. On the contrary, I appreciate your input and perspective along with Fullassault and RxArms. And, I'm thankful. That's why I posted here. Just a little background: I've needed to use them in the past where they were ale to send out parts without needing the entire firearm. I currently live on an island where shipping is a royal pain for a couple of reasons. Before going through with all of that, I wanted to confirm that the fitting of the bolt handle was indeed an issue.
  3. Ok, I have sourced all four new parts for comparison: detent, spring, roll pin, and another new OEM charging handle. Same issue after replacing the parts.. There was only a slight improvement in the degree of that loose, rotating handle. It went from free rotation of 12 o'clock to 2 o'clock rotation (from the original previously observed 12 to 2:30) There was no debris or otherwise anything, from the impeding the detent from full travel. The charging handles were identical in their cutouts. This slight difference was probably from the just slight difference in detent dimensions: Original Detent: 2.98mm height, and 1.11mm lip thickness New replacement Detent: 3.05mm height, and 0.77mm lip thickness The lip difference determines how far the detent will stick out into the handle channel. Tools needed for job are a 3/64" punch, a roll pin starter punch, small hammer, patience, and a small reading glass screwdriver set to hold the spring down while reinserting the roll pin. *Could any others confirm, and please let me know if your charging handle is tight, and free of rotation? I don't want to needlessly lose the firearm for two months over my belief that the charging handle should be tight. Benelli Warranty is unfortunately not being helpful this time.. I keep getting the same guy who just wants me to send in the whole firearm. No one there has confirmed if the handle should be tight. Thank you to anyone who can provide any advice.
  4. Oh wow. Thanks for the heads up. I figure it's fixable as long as the bolt body was machined correctly.
  5. Thank you kindly.. Benelli wants me to send in the entire gun, and says that their current turnaround times are running between 6-7 weeks. No way. I'm hoping that it's just a bad detent. I'll give it a go later on today. Thx again
  6. Hi Everyone, I have a somewhat new to me M1014 with an extremely loose bolt handle. The OEM handle will freely rotate back and forth from say 12 o'clock to 2:30 and back again. I've even accidentally pulled the handle free while charging it using the underhand method with my thumb. It will only engage the Bolt Handle Detent at the very end, right before it rotates fare enough to switch to another detent in the bolt handle. It's not seating in the pocket of the bolt handle and keeping constant pressure on the handle.. I own six different Benelli shotguns, going back almost 30 years, and I've never had one that was "loose". If fact, they've all been almost overly stiff. I even used a coated speaker wire, where I'd loop it around the handle of my old SBEII charging handle to remove it easily. Do I really have a problem with my M1014, or is this somehow a design feature that doesn't make sense to me? Thanks for any help Steve
  7. The M3s are awesome guns. I had the older slab sided one. Mine ran 3 dram, 1.125 oz all day. Never tried anything lighter. Put your OEM springs back in, and call Benelli CS.
  8. I too, had the same problems as described above with my new Ethos Be.S.T. model that I purchased last summer. I believe that someone on the assembly line in Italy had a really bad day during the early lockdowns of Covid.. The little D-Clip was not installed properly into the cut outs and flew across the room. And, the plastic trigger housing must have been installed with a heavy mallet. I found the solution was to mark up the duck bill opening of the front of the housing (that fits up and sandwiches the aluminum receiver) to see where the stoppage is occurring. I used a thin, flat file to open it up till it fit as it should, ensuring that the trigger guard pin aligned. If I would have shaved material off of the back of the housing, the pin would not have aligned. Benelli is having issues with some of their plastic trigger housings, especially with the Ethos line. I got another trigger housing from Benelli that fit just as bad as the original. The solution that I spoke of was relayed to me by one of their techs. They would have done the same if I had sent it back to them.
  9. "...it’s a joy to shoot – And isn’t that what it’s all about?" Right on.. I can't wait to shoot one.
  10. tdaggett, Sounds good, and thanks for the review. Which barrel length did you go with? Cheers

I just want to know if it has compass in the stock and a thingy that tells time..
  13. Thanks for the info, Spot We have the same plan regarding the slug barrel. Cheers, Steve
  14. Thanks for the info, Spot Do you think that the SBE I forend would look funny with those "cut-outs" at the front of the barrel? Also, It's been quite a while since I have handled a SBE I. Isn't the forend a little less pronounced on the lower edge towards the back end while at the same time being a little wider overall? Thanks again, Spot shooter Steve
  15. Does anybody here know if the SBE I and SBE II forends are interchangeable? I'd love to change out the one on my SBE II as I still find it awkward. Thanks for any replies, Steve
  16. I vote no lead. I am seriously considering getting into reloading steel shot for everything. I don't even like the idea any more of shooting lead at clay pigeons. I'm not selfish enough to justify *****ing on this world at the expense of future generations. Call me what you will.. I'm 37 and love the outdoors. Besides hunting, I enjoy Hiking Trail running Mountain biking Camping Fishing Skiing (I'm in Hawaii now) Surfing Swimming Freediving Scuba Spearfishing and anything else I can figure out how to do. Nature has much to offer...Why trash it??
  17. Yes, you will have to remove the pad and use a socket wrench. Pay attention to the markings on the locking plate to reassemble the same way as you took apart along with your chosen shims. (Look at the manual for detailed information as to what I am referring) Also, I have been able to get away with just "flushing" out the recoil tube with cleaner for quite a while now. Depress and work the plunger back and forth with a long screwdriver or some other suitable device (I use a rounded end that won't scratch). I have yet to have had to heat up and remove the tube.. After it has been degreased and is dry I will use a good lube and let it drip dry while leaning up against something. If you have access to air, even better. This is all easier than it sounds and only takes a few minutes of work. Steve
  18. I'm not sure... I never had the recoil reducer installed in my old Nova. The Limbsaver on my SBE II mounts with a plastic adapter pushed into the end of the stock followed by the pad which is screwed into the adapter.
  19. I'm not sure, but I would put a Limbsaver on it instead of the Benelli Comfortech. The Limbsaver is a better pad and since you are talking about the Nova, the constant removal issues with the semi-autos would be avoided.
  20. Good luck to you, swamplover11. I hope they get it back to you, up and running asap.
  21. swamplover11, I don't get it. Duck season is over. Why are you not sending your SBE II back to Benelli??? You paid for a warranty.... I personally know of more Beretta problems than I do Benelli problems. And furthermore, I have a friend who has not has his issue resolved with Beretta. Beretta is claiming the problem does not exist, when it clearly does. Mossberg has great CS, but Benelli service generally gets high nods. Finally, if you want a Beretta, get one! Your Benelli is still worth $$$
