  1. kuke 05, I think it's wrong to assume that there must something wrong with the factory chokes tubes that come with the SBE II...or that so many people dislike them. I personally know many more people using the factory tubes than not. Looking at this site or any other shotgun site, might be misleading. Most shooters I know of do not frequent these kinds of sites and therefore do not post their opinions about the success of the stock tubes. Most of us, including myself wandered over to these sites to find help in fixing a problem and/or love to tinker with guns. I fall into both of the categories above...
  2. Mbrad70, You will need the "Crio Plus" tubes. The Ber/Ben "Mobile" chokes will not fit. Also, the standard Crio tubes will not work. At the very least, make sure it says on the web site "SBE II and M2 only" as well as Crio Plus. Fish through past posts by mudhen to see his results using a fairly inexpensive turkey tube made by Primos called the Jelly Head. I bought one a couple of weeks ago, but have not found the time to pattern it. Good luck, Steve
  3. Good to hear, coltchris. I still might end up "having" to try that choke... It seems that might be going through a phase at the moment...better known as "Chokoholic" Bwaaaahahaha!
  4. Just got back from a week and a half hunt in Colusa and have a couple of observations...( of course I had fun ) I purchased the Primos Decoy and Pass tubes for my SBE II, but did not have time to hit the patterning board before I left. (UPS guy literally met me at the door as I was leaving!) Holy Cow, that Decoy tube shoots tight! Based on shooting an old dead decoy at 40 yards, it shoots tighter than the factory Modified...I didn't even try the Pass tube. I NEED to pattern these new chokes.
  5. kbyrd, I am having trouble tying to understand what you are looking for... This is what I use with my SBE II after trying many different brands. http://www.shootnhunt.com/catalog/JM/gun_accessories/sling_swivels/1020300.html They are very quiet, do not scratch and are strong. They are also very quick to put on and take off. Good luck, Steve
  6. glockstan, I'm not disputing you, but he is looking for an M3 recoil spring which is different from any other Benelli recoil spring (the M3 recoil spring is under the barrel, not in the butt-stock). Years ago when I still used a M3, no company offered a replacement...
  7. I could be wrong, but I don't think that you are going to find a light spring for your M3. The gun was never intended for dove loads... PS. I used to own one along with the 26" V-Barrel and loved it. The pump always worked great.
  8. Thanks Tucker. How do you like the EasyHit? Steve
  9. "Whoda thunk it?" Yup! Thanks, Tucker

It sounds like you have never cleaned the recoil tube... If you don't want to take it off for a much needed cleaning, you should at least take the straw attachment on a can of Gun Scrubber and empty half the bottle into the small drain hole at the back of the recoil assembly (working the piston back and forth while doing so). Then use Break Free and repeat again. When your finished, prop the muzzle end down and let it drain for a day.
  11. I love your sense of humor, man.
  12. OK, guys and gals I have been searching for answers about the Terror chokes and found this on another forum. http://www.refugeforums.net/refuge/showthread.php?t=499343 For those of us that have not had enough experience or put in enough time to see this ourselves (and are looking for first hand accounts) look at the above thread. There is lots of personal mud slinging, but many straight observations as well. Steve

dowgars, I have the SBE II and changed mine out last season for a couple of hunts...I changed it back afterwards because for me, it did not improve the handling characteristics I was looking for. It also put my face too far forward on the stock. I shoot 3.5" steel for waterfowl and did notice a difference that added up by the end of the day (especially for multi-day hunts), but not enough to cause concern for the 3" stuff.
  14. Thanks for your post, Sask boy. What kind of shells will you use for the pheasants? Good luck on your hunts, Steve
  15. Thanks, simpink! That's good to know. I went ahead and ordered both the Decoy and Pass tubes from Cabela's yesterday. They should be here before my next outing. Can't wait... Cheers, Steve

    M3 Pump?

pup21, There is a lever extending out both sides of the forward area of the forearm. This is the lever that changes it from semi to pump. It is super easy to do this on the fly and is very useful. You simply move the forearm back an eighth of an inch to unhook the sheet metal latch and pump away. Don't hold the lever down and push forward all the way as it will go back to semi if you do. I think the M3 is great for swinging at clay pigeons because of the extra weight of the recoil spring in the forearm...definitely great for a 20" barrel. I also had the 26" V-Barrel and wish I would have kept the gun as it was cool. Have fun..
  17. If the M4 stock works on a M1 Super 90 ( I don't know if it does...), then it will work on the M3. My old M3's pistol grip stock was the same as my buddy's M1 minus the spring tube assembly.
  18. Thank you, simpink. It's surprising to hear about how the Terror tubes are not performing with steel...I guess I've heard too many posts claiming the opposite. It sounds like I should at least try out the Primos. I've read a couple reports of the Primos tube coming lose which does not sound like a big deal to me...But, will I need to clean the tube of stuck wadding or anything like that because of the "claws" I hear they use? How many "shells" can I go through before the performance drops off? Thanks again for your input, Steve
  19. Hi there, Because I have found great info here on turkey tubes ( I used mudhens advice on the Jellyhead tube...thank you!) I am hoping to clarify some other things I have heard here and on other forums. I have a SBE II and am just now looking into getting a couple of new chokes for waterfowling. My question mainly concerns the Terror and Primos tubes. Concerning the Terror chokes, I have read several places that they pattern absolutely great. But, I have also read where there might be problems with expansion using larger shot size. Can this be verified by anyone here about the expansion problem? -On a related note, I just got off the phone with SRM who told me that Benelli tubes are very thin and offer now room for error from the factory. He even told me to measure the tube both fore and aft of the threads to see if there is more than two or three thousandths difference in size. Thanks for any advice, Steve
  20. Congrats on the purchase! I bought mine last season and love it too. Can I assume you've taken your new SBE II to the patterning board and know what it is doing with the factory tubes? I'm still trying out different shells before I spend on a new choke. So far, good results with the factory Mod.
  21. I too am very interested in any additional information regarding late production slug barrels for the SBE II...
  22. There are many others here who know more about the SBE II than I, but I do shoot 3.5" shells and think that it is fine. It is much more comfortable that my old Nova, but less so than my buddy's Beretta. Steve
  23. I've read on other posts that you will not need a new handguard for the slug barrels in your SBE II...just the older SBE. I'm interested in a slug barrel for mine as well, but have no first hand experience.
  24. Have you tried looking up the different "law enforcement only" forums? I'd bet you'd have your answer much faster there. Upon posting, I would think that somebody would send you a PM right away... Good luck to you, Steve
  25. The gun is good enough to where if it fits you well and you like the balance, buy it. I love mine and will not get rid of it, but did have a problem with the shell carrier that required a little tweeking.
