It's working as intended, you just need to get used to how it works. It's a bit different from most other bolt/lockback designs. I forget if it stays open after the last shot is fired. I can't beleive I can't remember this. It stays locked back when cycling by hand if the trigger has been pulled, or when the side bolt release is popped out. Sorry, hard to explain kind of. Just handle and shoot it and you'll get the hang of how it works. The "hanging up" if you ease the bolt forward from the rear is natural. There's a bit of friction in the transition range of the carrier where it hits the lifter etc, you can set the bolt open on that if you slowly move it there. If you jiggle the gun, the bolt carrier will fall, as it's not intended to rest here, and certainly should not be considered to be locked back. I once got my thumb slammed inside the chamber of my m4, someone else was shooting my m4 and when they handed me the gun I assumed the bolt was locked back, but instead they had only "hung it" as you are describing. I foolishly reached inside the chamber to do something, and it closed on my thumb. I had a black thumb for many months, and almost shot the poor fellow that unknowingly caused me so much pain.

Try being right handed.

I just use cheap CLP on my shotguns, no point is using more exotic stuff like machine gunners lube or KG on a smoothbore imo. CLP does a decent job of keeping the rust off and lubing the moving parts.

So..how many rounds per year do you put through your Benelli?
Duggan replied to shotgunNoob's topic in Benelli
I have 11k rounds, more now actually, through my m4. It still shoots like the day I got it, as far as I can tell. I hardly get to shoot it now, between ****** weather, NY temperatures, full time school and full time work. I put probably 1000 rounds through it over this summer, now I haven't shot it in months. -

So after you sell this, what will you have left to use for defense?

I was just stirring the pot, don't mind me.

It used to come with 3-4 chokes, recent reports have been that it no longer does. It will probably ship with a modified choke installed. You can get the additional chokes for pretty cheap, if anything. Benelii sent them to my friend for free when his M4 came without any, but like I said I don't know if they do that anymore. You can shoot slugs and buckshot through any choke, but you will have varying degrees of accuracy. If you want to most accuracy with a slug, use a looser choke, like a cyl or imp cyl, up to modified I think without really distorting accuracy. For buckshot, the tighter the constriction the tighter the pattern SHOULD be. However every gun is different and I've read reports of certain OO patterning terribly though a full choke, and better through looser chokes. You best bet is to get a range of chokes and try them out with the various types of ammo you want to use to find which work best for your gun and ammo choices. You won't hurt anything by doing it, just make sure the choke is screwed on moderately tight when you change chokes.

Meh. I have multiple friends in the marines and a few in the army who I've shot with, and I've never been impressed by their shooting prowess or knowledge of guns/tactics in general. Maybe my friends are just morons, I don't know. Since you mentioned Todd Jarrett ... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4584332856867071363 "the biggest problem that I see today about being in military and law enforcement and dealing with firearms is they are about 20 years behind the curve when it comes to teaching new techniques" Don't get me started on cops I know/have met who are an absolute JOKE at shooting.

lol. I made a joke about the toes, but apparently I should have read the disclaimers first. Good luck.

Clearly the bible is the only source of truth and enlightenment in modern times, and should be the exclusive authority on all matters of fact and reason.

It has been known for ages to be pure marketing hype.

It will fit on any M4. It will only collapse on M11707's and M11717's (the newest models, the models made the past 3 or so years). The difference is that the recoil tube is milled (flat) on one side and has notches for the stock to collapse to. Quite a few people on this board have either changed out their recoil tube with a new one, or sent their recoil tube away to have it milled and notched. A search on this topic will find you all the info you want to know.

fact: the police can and will protect you against every possible threat, and there is no need for dangerous guns in modern society.

Yea, it's that stupid rail benelli uses on top that isn't 1913 spec like it should be.
-
Exactly what mount is this? The irondot one? And yes, they will obviously make it right. I dunno if it's related, but the m4 rail isn't a milspec rail, and it mangled one of my larue eotech mounts back last summer. It allowed the mount to like slide forward, then somehow like compressed the sides and rubbed some of the block off. I'd be interested to hear what they say.

GGGs website is down, or I'd link you there.

1) - When you shoot 9 rounds in 2 seconds out of ANY semi auto, you're compromising accuracy for speed. The stock doesn't affect this nearly as much as your ammo, shooting stance, weight and recoil system ... that being said, full stocks are generally more comfortable and controllable than collapsible stocks, due to a better cheekweld, more rigidity, and more weight. 2) - I don't know, I've never shot an M3. However, it should feel similar to any other recoil driven benelli ... which means it will kick hard with 3.5 inch magnums. The kick is unavoidable, and all in the eye of the beholder. It will kick more than the M4, unless the M3 has some type of the magical recoil absorbing system that all the other recoil driven guns lack. The m4 shoots softer than the M1 hands down, by a lot. 3) - Heck no. At least not by my standards. While I think the M3T looks sick, is rare as heck comparatively, is versatile, and is downright cool ... you're nuts if you're gonna spend ~2450 on any tactical benelli that isn't an M4. If you're buying it solely for looks, bragging rights, to resell later for profit etc, I understand. The M3T is a cool gun, certainly unique. It will be a fine addition to any collection. But if you're buying a shotgun to actually SHOOT and enjoy, much less stake your life on and use for home defense, your money will be much better spent on a gas driven, softer shooting, more modern M4 for ~1000 less. The M3 can be used a pump so I guess you can make the argument that it has greater reliability, but I think you'll find it's really not an issue. My m4 hasn't jammed or messed up anything a single time in over 11k rounds after the break in period (excluding low power rounds that explicitly said they would not cycle any auto). For ~2450 you can pick up an m4 (1500), full length tube (200), collapsible stock (500), and put the rest of the surplus money into whatever you want, a red dot, shell carrier, rail, etc. Again, it's personal preference. If you're in love with the M3 (have you ever fired one?), go for it, I'm sure it's a sweet shotgun ... but I personally think you're nuts if your one and only benelli for $2450 is anything other than an M4 with all the trimmings. Now, if you're planning on buying this AND an M4 shortly after, then go for it, and I'm jealous of you. Were it me and I had ~2450 to spend on a benelli, I'd get an M4, skip the collapsible stock (not worth it IMO, I had one for 2 years, shot it over 7k rounds and sold it), buy a full length tube (not an extension), and buy one of these to go on top: http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=149 Throw on a GG&G large bolt release pad and a PMT titanium charging handle, and you're got yourself a sick setup (pretty much what I have, minus the optic, which I will have soon). Just my opinion, but hey, you asked.

Get an M4, shoot it till you run out of ammo, then laugh in the face of the detractors and never look back.

Political Post..I will probably be "axed" for this..

According to a ONE DAY NON AVERAGED ZOGBY POLL, McCain is in the lead by 1 POINT AND CLIMBING. Clearly, the race has been won, and BHO should drop out. Clearly. -Duggan http://www.zogby.com/main.htm oh how I wish. -

No. Just no. I bet you and every other American that has been fooled by the empty "CHANGE" suit will be in for a nasty surprise when you find out what BHO is really going to do to this country. I'd wager on a much stronger world government, much weaker USA, sweeping gun bans, a strong fairness doctrine that strangles alternative media, ramped up permanent federal hate crime legislation, buffed affirmative action, much higher taxes on EVERYTHING, strangulation of ALL business, not just large business, price increases the likes of which we have never seen, lots of goods will be become unavailable, lots of businesses will go under because they either can't afford to operate under such a heavy burden or the owners refuse to work under a socialist system, blatant wealth redistribution, a crime increase like we haven't seen in years, a severe decline of the importance of the constitution, at least 2 judges put into place with socialist views (not to mention anti 2nd amendment), a severe decline in personal freedoms, mandated programs, much stricter environmental standards, a HUGE increase in ******* labor union power and presence and membership, absolutely killing the military's viability, HUGE regulation on wall street, further federally mandated housing and loan projects that we will pay for, I don't even know, it goes on and on. The amount of damage Bush has done (he spent too much, odd foreign policy, over extended our economy, uhh, he gave contracts to "friends", he pissed off some countries, the patriot act, homeland defense, etc) will PALE in comparison to what has yet to come. I'm no Bush fan, and I think he's been a pretty bad president, but saying that Obama will be better than Bush just because he's different would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad and outrageous. I'll admit, Obama's plan may work in the short term, with people yearning for "ANY CHANGE", even if it's a shift towards blatant socialism. The sheer enthusiasm of people for this man, this man of NO SUBSTANCE, may just power the country into following him and his plan for a short while. Things MAY very well get better before they get worse ... but they will get worse. 10x worse. You can't do what he wants to do without destroying the free market system and what this country was founded on. You can't do what he wants to do without destroying the things that make america great. I almost want Obama to win just to watch this country burn, we truly deserve it if we are stupid and fickle enough to let someone like Obama into the white house. It's just absolutely sickening to me how bias the media coverage of Obama is, and how he gets away with ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. It's unbelievable. Did you see the clip of Biden getting mega pissed when that news woman in Orlando actually ASKED him a question about Obama being a blatant socialist? HOW DARE SOMEONE ASK HIM A HARD QUESTION, ONLY MCCAIN IS SUPPOSED TO GET THOSE 24/7! Obama has risen to power by speaking well off a teleprompter, looking attractive, and saying absolutely nothing of value. Rhetoric, unkeepable promises, absolute empty suit politics. AND HE GETS AWAY WITH IT 110%. It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life. Nothing else to say, I've already wasted too much text on deaf ears. If you vote for Obama, you deserve the "change" that is coming. A good read I just found: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/Story?id=6099188&page=1 -

I'm just quoting this for later use against you. Holy cow tucker, are you even serious? You actually believe that Obama+Reid+Pelosi ... that all 3 branches of government controlled (perhaps fillibuster proof) by liberals is going to be good for the country, your individual rights and your well being? Not to mention the core structure of capitalism? You actually ... Wow. The rise of Obama is one of the scariest, most incredible things I've ever witnessed in my 23 years of living. I simply cannot beleive what I see unfolding before my eyes. I simply cannot beleive how incredibly f****d we are if he gets in. I'm not voting FOR McCain on Nov 4th ... I'm voting AGAINST Obama. If McCain does NOTHING for 4 years other than sit in the chair and press the veto button ... I would be happy at this point. This country deserves to burn. -
Pffft. 9 shots or bust, none of this 8 crap
