Buy a full length 7 round tube. Do NOT buy a +2 extension ... you will just end up buying a full length tube later and your extension will sit unused. The only reason to really buy a +2 over a full length tube is if you're cheap as ****, or want to swap back your 5+limiter tube for some reason ... which you can still do with a full length tube if you don't loctite it into place, like I haven't. Those tubes in your first link look a lot like socomguys tubes (he may sell through them, who knows). Get one of those, or one from socomguy in his thread here. http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16367

I see no reason to ever use anything but a full or tighter choke. The shot pattern on a shotgun is already incredibly wide compared to a rifle, I don't see why anyone would want to make it even wider. As I see it, all a loose choke does is decrease the effective range of your weapon, and make it so you have to aim even less. It can be said that a loose choke lets you hit more targets at once, say birds, if they are right above you, but hey that's what 7+1+1 is for (just kidding I know you can only use so many rounds blah blah blah). Lots of people will disagree with me I'm sure, but I've never used anything other than a full choke in my 10k rounds and I don't see why I ever would. I never use steel shot. Oh, and anyone who says you can't fire slugs through a full choke, or that doing so will damage your barrel/threads, has never tried it. I don't shoot many slugs ... I've probably put 300 or so through my m4 with full choke, but my threads look and feel like new.

It is a laure mount, you can take it on/off 100000 times and it will retain zero. I'm not kidding. They are the best in the industry, do some research. I've personally shot under moa on targets at 200 yards (longest range I have access to :\), removed the larue mounted scope, replaced it, and shot dead on. It can do it all day long. I almost bought an idondot a while back, then decided I wanted the T1 more. I don't have either yet. I'm assuming this is your first larue product (since you didn't know about their legendary return to zero), I hope you like it, they are a great company that make great products with the best lifetime warranty in the business. I have like 10 larue products, I can't really say enough about them. Lets see, 2 eotech mounts, 1 aimpoint mount, 1 acog mount, 2 rails, 1 offset flashlight mount, 1 vertical grip, 1 back up iron sight, soon to be one stealth upper, and 1 scoutlight adapter. http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=2&f=219 Mark larue spends a lot of time on his forums there, lots of interesting industry related stuff there. edit: I seem to remember the battery life on those irondots is ridiculously long, you should be able to leave it on all the time without killing the battery, IIRC.

How exactly does one fumble around when the safety is positioned EXACTLY in the path of your index finger when it moves from resting to the trigger? I find it to be natural as can be. and I don't see why that one wouldn't work with the m4 ... but definitely check with them before buying.

The men in white suits are on their way.

I wasn't really encouraging anything. I was inquiring as to what he had done, and agreeing that the stock trigger sucks. Oh, and everyone knows that the stock safeties are WAYYY TOO LOUD, you have to use a hammer and punch to move them and they scare away every animal within a 300 mile radius.

I only own one benelli at the moment, and that is a 11707. I shoot whatever I can get ahold of or have on hand. When I get low, I generally buy 10+ different types of buckshot to run through my m4, just to try stuff out. Skeet rounds I always buy locally in 100+ packs. I don't have time to hunt, so I haven't really developed any favorites as far as stopping power.
-
Like they said, get the tightest choke you can find, and pattern as many round types as you can to find out which give you the pattern you are seeking.

1000 foot 20 gauge? I laughed.

The stock m4 trigger sucks. I don't mind the hard trigger pull, but it is long creepy and wobbly to a seemingly unnecessary extent. Give more details about what you did to improve it, there are lots of people interested in this.

Need is irrelevant. Humans don't NEED anything other than food air and shelter. Everything you spend your money on that isn't one of these things is a want ... and I WANT the best of everything that I can afford. I agree with basically everything unobtanium said. I've used a ton of optics, and there is a clear and undeniable difference between real optics and fake optics. The BEST fake I ever used was a $99 dollar ACOG. It had adjustments that didnt move on their own, surprisingly clear glass, and a crisp crosshair. Then I used it when it was 30 or so degrees out (half of the year in NY :\ ) and the entire thing shattered, the entire front and rear glass lenses just absolutely ate the dust. Why? Because they're not made of the same material, or to the same spec, or to the same quality, and most importantly they have no warranty. The 2 fake aimpoints I have used have both broken pretty fast, had absolutely horrible mounts, didn't hold zero at all, the adjustments moved on their own, the glass was a joke, and it was just a hindrance to use them. Whereas I have abused the ever loving **** out of eotechs and aimpoints, as well as various ranged scopes in larue mounts, and none of them have ever broken. So yea, the difference as I see it: 1) - Quality glass that doesn't break, fog or get filled with water. 2) - Accurate and repeatable adjustments, and the ability to hold zero when taken off and replaced on the weapon 3) - The warranty of a company that stands behind their product. I recently got an eotech 511 fixed for free a full year or more out of it's 2 year warranty date (it didn't break, it just wasn't getting as bright on startup as it should have been). 4) - The buy it once mentality. I see no reason to buy a piece of **** scope that costs 1/3 that of the real thing if it will consistently perform in a sub par fashion. I will never be anything but a civilian, but I want/demand performance from everything I buy. 5) - Do you really think it's a good idea to put a $100 airsoft scope on a close range weapon that's meant for self defense in your home? It's begging for problems ... you're undermining all the strength engineering of your weapon by creating a weak link that you are then going to depend on. And everyone knows weak links break at the worst possible times. 6) - The satisfaction of having a quality product that you can depend on. I will never be anything but a civilian. I have never had military training, nor do I NEED military quality stuff ... but since it is available, and I WANT military quality stuff in the event I should have to use it in a military manner, I see no reason why not if I can afford it. I see it as a massive waste to spend money on anything but the best I can afford, as I will surely just be unhappy with my purchase and end up ultimately getting something better anyways. That 99 I dropped on a fake (which broke) could have been spent on a legitimate acog which would not have broken. There will always be 2 types of people ... the guy that buys one nightforce, absolutely loves it, shoots well with it, and never has to replace it ... and the guy that goes "oh for that price I can buy 10 of my knockoffs, and if one of them breaks I can just replace it", deals with a mediocre/subpar scope that is plagued with problems, but can replace in quantity what he lacks in quality. I'd rather be the guy with the nightforce. ps - This is not to say that ALL lesser expensive scopes are pieces of junk and going to break, but generally when it costs less, you're losing something ... mainly durability and repeatability if not quality of glass.

I see no reason to gimp yourself if you can handle the recoil. (aka 12) but please, talk to someone more knowledgeable about these models than myself before you buy anything.

I've never used one, but the cordoba seems to be made for your application http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/cordoba.tpl

Hello and welcome to the forums. Trap shooting is not my area of expertise, but having shot both the supersport and numerous 870's, I can say for sure that it is a substantial upgrade for your intended purposes. Be advised that the carbon fiber version is not actual carbon fiber ... a lot of people seem to not realize this. -Duggan

For what it's worth Image Hosting 24 inches after 10k rounds, leading me to believe I probably had a 27 inch spring to begin with.
-
Well, again, isn't your gun shooting flawlessly now with the new spring? I agree that it if the specs say it shouldn't be needed, it's odd and annoying that it perhaps IS needed ... but it's a pretty simple fix all in all. I wish all my mechanical problems were that easy to fix. I wonder if they've changed spring specs since I got mine, or what ... it never even occurred to me at the time I did the tube switch that my spring would have less pressure. I just assumed it would work, and it did. It's somewhat bothersome that yours is not working with the stock components. I don't know what to tell you, I know you've already contacted customer support, but perhaps another call to ask them about your spring questions and to badger them about why you have to use an m1 spring in your m4 for it to cycle reliably.

I use whatever the cheapest 100 pack available at wal mart is. It's the only thing I go to wal mart for.

This whole magazine spring problem is a mystery to me. I never heard a thing about it until like a month ago, now everyone is replacing their stock springs with aftermarket, then a different aftermarket, then going back to stock, or to a different models stock spring ... I swear just because of marketing and because they are available. Like I've said before, I've never used a thing but the stock spring that came in my m4 the day I bought it. I used it with my 5 round tube and my 7 round tube and never had a problem. Furthermore, who cares if the spring is shrinking? Would you prefer a 100 inch spring with really weak coils so that you could feel good about it being long enough to push the rounds out? If your gun is functioning fine with whatever spring you ended up with, I fail to see what the problem is. It just seems like you are OCD as ****. I'll also say that the only spring issues I've ever seen with ANY gun have been shooter related, not gun related (ie newb shooters not holding the stock to the shoulder properly) ... and I suppose ar15 magazines, but that's more of a follower issue than a spring issue.

If you think 55 is bad, don't look at this: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=26414&title=BENELLI%20BOLT%20RELEASE%20BUTTON I believe I bought mine from here back in the day, but can't be sure.

Have you ever USED an expensive optic? I don't think you have, because if you had, you wouldnt be asking why ... just lamenting the fact that they were expensive.

Aimpoint t1 in low profile larue mount. I'd link the image and page but their site is down ... laruetactical.com Eotechs work well, but they are too high to use with the standard stock ... which is what I'm hoping the t1 will solve. I haven't bought one yet, but I may if I sell my collapsible stock. Eotechs do eat batteries yes, but corroded terminals? News to me. edit: also, know that eotech fixed a broken 511 for me free of charge, a year and a half after the warranty had expired ... and they did it damn fast too. A lot of companies wouldn't do that. If you have an issue with your site, fill out the form for RMA on their website, and you'll get a response within a day (I always have).

Definitely fake. Ignore the 2 blasts or his hand fly back way after the first one ... look at his feet when he falls. People don't fall like that when they have their entire mass directly over the leg that is supporting them while the other gets caught behind it. Welcome to the world of attempted youtube fame. edit:watched it again ... the guy went into a freefall nose dive over his left foot getting delayed by a minor obstacle. I don't care how clumsy you are, you wouldn't fall like that.

One more pic of the new bolt handle, as I am limited to 2 images per post ...
