I take it you mean this http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16468 good job, enjoy

90% of the time I use breakfree and a boresnake to "clean" my barrel. 10% of the time I will be at home, inspecting/really cleaning/playing with my weapons, and that's when I use a solvent and a proper bore brush. I've never used my KG cleaning stuff on my shotgun, as I've stated it's way overkill. I linked to it just for those who don't know about the possibilities.

I've being saying that for ages. I've never used anything but the factory spring that came with my m4. Good investigating though, it's nice to have some confirmed data concerning this problem that has popped up since people/vendors started going aftermarket spring crazy.

Heh I'm in line for a LMT MRP gas piston barrel whenever they finally decide to release them ... should be any week now hopefully. It will be my first piston AR. I too am a fan of reliability.

All the products mentioned on this page will work, and do a good job ... but if you REALLY want to be OCD about cleaning/protecting your gun, then use the best: https://www.kgcoatings.com/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=24 This stuff is complete overkill for a smoothbore weapon imo, but if you really want to remove absolutely 100% of forgeign residue, this is your ticket. For more information as to what does what, or in what order, I link you to Wes from mstn.biz, the guy who turned me onto using this stuff for my rifles. Your cleaning process will be slightly different when cleaning a shotgun instead of a rifle, but it is good information none the less. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=134&t=146969 Enjoy.

Nice. Do you own an ak47?

Heh, As I've said many times here, I had a dozen or so failures to fire/load/eject during my first 200 rounds. I expected it to a degree, and kept shooting ... after 200 rounds, all problems ceased to exist, and they have yet to resurface ... ever. That being said, I don't understand why people are swapping out perfectly good factory parts with aftermarket parts that offer no tangible advantage, and in many cases just seem to cause problems, like we see here. Keep the stock follower in, shoot a bunch more rounds, and report back after 200 or so have been fired without problem.

Well, I have also built my own triggers from JP kits and the like, and they are just this side of godly, but the problem with my m4 trigger is that it seems loose, wobbles from side to side, and just plain sucks ... the 10 lbs or whatever trigger pull doesn't bother me, the loose long creepy feeling of the pull does. I've looked at the m4 trigger assembly, and it seems like my problem cannot really be fixed with a typical grind/polish trigger job ... the components are just ill fitted to the outer trigger guard, or so it seems. If you think you can fix this, by all means I'm willing to try, but I don't know how much luck you'll have. It obviously has to retain full safety/reliability, a 1 lb shotgun trigger that goes off when you sneeze is no good. edit - I see you mention VT, are you located near here? I'm in NY

a 14 inch barrel (har har) a quality rail a quality trigger

I'm on my 5th ar15 build at the moment, I'm with you ... that's why I was thrown by your "charging bolt" Glad you got it working.

I've never used anything but the stock spring, and it has yet to give me a problem in the 2+ years it's been since I installed my full length tube.

Some direct answers for your questions: A)-bull B)-any shell 3 inches or lower C)-The first 200 or so rounds it may not fire certain types of ammo. After the break in period it will fire 99% of ammo, the exceptions being special purpose rounds like less than lethal rounds, and some brands of reduced recoil ammo. More info available on this if you search for it. D)-either will work, but no reason not to buy a full length tube if you don't have either yet. E)-not sure, I've never used a tool with mine F)-Use the USMC manual linked, and it's easy to get the fixed stock off. Remove the barrel, then bolt carrier group, then trigger group, then twist the stock off. Easy as pie. Congrats on your new purchase.

http://s3.supload.com/free/m4-bottomwear.jpg/view/ http://s3.supload.com/free/m4-topwear.jpg/view/ That is how your m4 ejection port will look after you put many more thousands of rounds through it. The bottom is actually worn more than the top is, it's just impossible to photograph the inside edge of the bottom receiver where all the wearing is. The gun still works 110%, so yea, I'd say it's normal.

oh man, lemme find my camera.

I've done a few projects like this ... I have mixed feelings on the matter. It's great fun to be able to get a powerful light for not very much money, but it also seems to lead people to believe that there is no reason to invest in a quality light like a surefire ... and there isn't, if you don't care about longevity, durability, reliability, waterproofness or build quality. That 900 lumen led looks interesting, I may have to try that out ... I wonder how long it will last in a garbage housing like the donor flashlight?

I don't know if by "charging bolt" you mean the side handle used to charge the BCG, or that actual bolt itself. The side handle you should be able to push right back in with a moderate amount of force ... to replace the actual bolt you'd take off the barrel, slide out the BCG, pull the firing pin retaining pin out the side, remove the firing pin, drop the bolt in the front, replace the little metal side thing, then do it all in reverse. Hard to explain without being able to show you ... so yea, read the manual. If you explain more clearly the situation, I can be of more assistance.

Welcome aboard. I'm glad you like your new weapon.

Very nice. I sure do wish mesa tactical would start/continue/finish their rail system for the m4 :\ It looks like it would be very nice to have a fore grip on one. I think I'll have to get one of these t1s ... If it sucks for some reason I can always resell.

I'm hearing more and more good things about these sights ... I looked at them briefly when they were first announced at the press conference, but then I forgot about them almost completely until now. They look to be the ideal microsight for the m4 ... small, low, rugged (which doctor/jpoints are not in my experience), bright, and can be left turned on for a very long time so they are always ready. I've used an eotech on and off with my m4 over the years, but that eotech has been stolen by one of my new rifle projects, so I got into looking for a replacement optic for my shotgun ... So my question is, does anyone actually have experience with one of these on an m4, and what are your thoughts on the matter? To clarify, I am speaking more specifically of the aimpoint t-1 in an lt661 low profile mount, as can be seen in this pic, mounted on an m4: http://www.laruetactical.com/pics/LT66XMount/T1_Profiles_copy.jpg ^^that picture is actually what raised my interest. $600+ is a lot to spend, but I'm never afraid to spend money if the product is worth it.

Indeed. Slugs will take down almost anything on this continent. IMO.

Sadly, my m4 is the only weapon I have that doesn't have a combat light ... I need to get on this.

I've never used a super sport II, but I've long felt the trigger on my m4 is absolute garbage compared to the rest of the gun. Mine wobbles back and forth, has lots of creep, and is heavy like you mention. I've looked at my trigger assembly and there is no glaring problem/solution I can see, and I've used other m4s that also have the same terrible trigger ... so I've come to just accept that benelli triggers are terrible. I try to ignore it when I shoot in order that it doesn't ruin the rest of the gun for me. I also have asked a few places online if they work on benelli's, but I am yet to find one that will. Theres also the reliability/safety issue, so I'm not too keen on letting just anyone mess about with it ... I just wish they came better from the factory. For the money they cost, they should be much better. That being said, the rest of the gun is 110%, and I'm picky. If a terrible trigger is the price I have to pay for an ultra reliable smooth shooting semi auto, I guess it's a price I'm willing to pay.

modified is fine. I shoot slugs through my full choke ... and it looks good as new. Your M4 should run just about everything, most low recoil rounds included, after you break it in. If you're worried, and I know you are, only buy a box or two of a certain round to test it. See what works and what doesn't. If you are worried your m4 will fail you in a time of need ... you should be using full power loads for self preservation anyways.

I appreciate that you're trying to research every possible aspect of this gun before your purchase of one, but you're really over doing it. I have at least 6000 rounds through my m4 by this point and guess how many components I have replaced? Guess how many times I have cleaned my recoil tube/spring? Guess how many times the gun has ever jammed/malfunctioned? 0. The only issues I have EVER had with this gun was during the first ~200 rounds, some lighter rounds would not cycle the gun, and I think when I tried to 7+1+1 it choked a few times and didn't autoload. You really shouldn't be so paranoid about stuff breaking and needing replacement when you havent even purchased/shot the firearm in question. My $.02 btw after all these rounds, the only way to really tell my gun has been shot at all is the parkerizing around the bolt carrier group has started to get worn off, it is slightly silver in some spots. The m4 is built to last.
