It's disappointing to hear that the new camo finish is apparently so terrible. My standard finish m4 still looks as good today as it did when I bought it 2 years ago, and I do anything but baby it.

They're giving you the corporate, risk free, no liability, easy answer. "don't do anything even remotely potentially damaging, and nothing bad can possibly happen, and we won't get blamed for anything" ...complete bull. Your M4 is not a delicate target rifle with glass parts. It is a combat shotgun made to withstand the elements. Nothing changes when you dry fire it. It's a spring loaded firing pin being hit by a hammer ... it doesn't matter whether there is a round in the chamber or not. As all the other fine people in this thread have said before me, you will be fine.

You know, I never even use my collapsible stock ... I just leave it fully out all the time. Maybe I should sell it and buy another full m4 to keep in my trunk

From when I posted this thread, Socomguy has since made his own thread advertising/selling his tubes. From what I can see, he has sold a lot of tubes to a lot of satisfied customers. The thread can be found here: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7817 I don't personally have one of his tubes, as I was in an earlier group buy for some custom made tubes, but from what I can see his work is top notch.

If you cannot see or feel any damage to the threads of your choke, or to the end of the barrel where the choke threads in, I'd say you are good to go, so long as you can still interchange chokes without any additional friction/cross threading/etc. Make sure your choke stays screwed in and does not get loose on you as well.

If the model you bought is indeed a 11707, you should have 3 notches on your recoil tube, and it should be milled with a flat section. A collapsible stock will work just fine if this is the case. As far as differences between 11707s, I don't beleive there are any major ones. Unless things have changed in the year or so it's been I've been away from benelli. A quick search should give you a wealth of information about the different makes of M4s and the differences between them.

Why wouldn't you?!

My piece of junk mossberg 22 broke a few weeks ago, so I am in the market for a new one. What model savage is most accurate/cost effective/best? I've never really looked at them before, and don't really have time to research them like I used to. Tucker you seem to know quite a bit about them, which should I look at?

I'm by no means an expert clay shooter, but I've always used a full choke in my M4 with great results. You just have to get used to how your gun shoots ... its a much different shooting clays with ghost ring sights, or in my case, an eotech.

I had jams and fail to fires for my first 200 or so rounds. I had heard this would happen, so I burned through that period without giving it much though. I have since then fired 5000+ rounds without replacing a single part, cleaning rarely, without a single jam, fail to eject, or misfire. Get your gun checked out.

On the VT shooting and my previous post that benelli has deleted for some reason: I had forgotten the vendetta many on this board seem to have against arfcom. My link to their thread was not meant to be anything other than a source for the latest information ... its an extremely active thread, even if in the GD. As far as the opinions contained and expressed in it being offensive ... have you seen the spin that is already being put on by the media? I find that to be 100x more offensive than anything I saw on that thread, and everyone is being exposed to that. As far as cops hiding behind trees ... I'm calling it how I see it, in the videos and pictures. To me, it just emphasizes how truly on your own you are in this type of situation ... wasn't really meant as a cheap shot at the cops. I recognize that my opinion of LEOs is not likely to be shared by many here. But I didn't make this thread for any of this petty stuff. I made it because no one else had yet, and because its a tragedy that could have some serious waves. Again, heads up.

Ive been using brownells friction defense gun oil for a little bit now ... trying it out. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=22319&title=FRICTION+DEFENSE?%20GUN%20CLEANING%20PRODUCTS Works pretty **** well. Feels just right.

Entry M4 barrels are made of adamantium steel, and they heal themselves when users forget to oil them.

Why do you say something bad about me in every post? And all this pebble talk is making me sick.

You use the search function to find information and do research on topics that have already been covered. If you have further questions that have not been answered, or you want further discussion, you start a new topic utilizing the information you found in the old threads. I was going to make some analogy between book reports and writing in reference books as opposed to starting your own reports, but I am starting to get shaky vision from lack of sleep. That said, its not a big deal. Post away!

You can put one on ... it will only collapse if you have a 11707 model, aka your recoil tube has notches cut in it like the picture above.
-
Type in allcaps and bump 2 year old threads? ... As far as I know, the collapsible stock for the m4 has not changed. You'll know real fast if it works or not when you try to put it on. Your buffer tube needs to have notches cut into it, or else it will not collapse. Like I said in your other allcaps thread, take out the trigger assembly and twist the stock off. There have been like 100 topics with this question, all after 2004. Take out the trigger assembly, and the stock threads off the recoil tube/receiver back.

870 guys put the fear in you? loud safetys, jams, heavy triggers and fragile as eggs?
