  1. I'm not sure if I like the idea of a sidesaddle yet.
  2. nobody?
  3. I did some digging, and the consensus seems to be that you can only obtain factory replacement parts from an authorized benelli dealer. Has anyone discovered an online benelli authorized dealer that sells replacement factory parts for the m4? I've contacted Cal's but have not gotten an answer yet, and it is not listed on their site. I ask because I want a replacement trigger group. As I've said before in other threads, I beleive I have a defective trigger group, as it wobbles side to side and just doesn't feel like a trigger should. I am trying to avoid sending my trigger group back to benelli for replacement, as I have no idea how long this will take and I want to have my shotgun in working condition at all times. As such, I am willing to buy a whole replacement trigger group just to avoid being without a working m4. Any information? Anyone?

  5. Sure, I should have explained further. The 870 is a classic design and a proven one. It works. I just don't really like the ergonomics and feel of a stock 870. I really have gotten addicted to pistol grips, and benelli makes cool pistol grip stocks. With that said, I think the nova's pump forend feels cheap, and not nearly as solid as the 870's I have used. It kind of clicks, as opposed to the oiled hydraulic slide feeling of the 870 action. If I could only have one shotgun, and it had to be a "cheap" pump, I would have an 870. There are a ton of replacement parts/upgrades on the market, and it is a proven design that always works. I missed that this would be the thread posters first shotgun. If I already had experience with shotguns, and was looking for a new pump, I would want something different from every other person at the range ... I'd want a benelli. In my mind, the 870 is the glock of the shotgun world ... it's not the most exciting or exotic, but it works consistently. [ 08-29-2006, 03:17 PM: Message edited by: Duggan ]
  6. A guy custom makes them. If you search around on here, you'll find an old link to his contacts. That is, if he is still making them.
  7. The only reason to buy an 870 is if you plan on doing something like this to it: If not, go benelli. Unmodified 870's are boring. They work, but they do not excite the way benellis do. For the record, when I get around to it, I will make an 870 almost just like that.

Build an AR-10 instead Nah, I think the socom II's look awesome. Not sure I'd ever buy one though. Although gun dealers are notoriously full of shiit, I found it a bit odd when 3 different dealers all stated that the socom II's won't group very well. In my mind, a 308 is a caliber that demands a well grouping rifle, so I would definitely have to further investigate that before I bought anything. Heck, if you buy one, let me know how it shoots.
  12. I am glad to see someone else loves breakfree as much as I do.
  13. Tucker is right. Calm down. And use some punctuation. I understand you are pissed, but this type of thing is fixable/avoidable, and you may or may not be the cause of it. Not to undermine your experience, but I have friends in the marines who don't know anything about metal preservation, all they know is what the marines tells them, which seems to be "remove all grime, clean, and then wipe absolutely as dry as possible, or else your gun will jam/malfunction". I think this is bullsh!t. Having dry metal parts running against each other causes all types of bad things to happen; unneccesary friction, premature wear, etc. I always keep moving parts oiled a bit, as this should be common sense, but my friends in the marines don't see it that way. I don't know what to tell you. As far as rust on the outside of your gun goes, I give every gun I get (every metal tool for that matter, be it a knife, pliers, flashlight, etc) a rubdown and overnight soak with breakfree. I then remove the extra, but I don't rub it down until it is compltely dry like my marine friends would have me do. I think this should be a standard operating procedure. Your weapons wellbeing/preservation is your responsibility, not the factorys. I have seen all types of guns develop rust on them when they have been left alone, but I have never seen a single gun that has been properly treated with breakfree/various other products show a spec of rust. As such, my advice is twofold. If you really think you got a factory defect, send it back to benelli CS for them to look it over. They can probably help you out. If not, take some steel wool and a solvent and get the rust off. It will not be that deep, it took me 10 minutes with fine steel wool and hoppes to get 8 monthes of rust off of my friends 870 when he left it in his trunk untreated and went away to college. Get all the rust off, get the extra hoppes off as best you can, and then treat with a metal preservative. I use breakfree, you can use whatever you want. Maybe you were the victim of a factory fault, or maybe, just maybe, you should modify your cleaning procedure to include a bit of pre emptive metal preservation. Live and learn. 16. Glad to help. With nodakspud making factory finish +2s and thus guy making factory finish full lengths, things are looking pretty good for the civilian m4 owners. You'll love the larue mount/eotech. It is the best.
  17. Shiiet. Steel wool and hoppes elite followed by breakfree.
  18. Totally worth it. Take her shooting with your new stuff. She may understand. And you bought all that stuff for 439? Or just the eotech/mount? [ 08-25-2006, 02:27 PM: Message edited by: Duggan ]

****, we might get cloudy skies in NY.
  20. Sure, any decent gunsmith can do that for you. I have no idea what shotgun that is. You're at the mercy of google/other people on this forum for that one.
  21. Assuming you HAVE the collapsible stock and a properly milled recoil tube (11707), you press the button in, turn the stock to the right 30 degrees or so, and push up. You can push it up halfway, or all the way. It will then slide back upright and click into place.
  22. Aha. Well, is it a pump, or is it an auto? Does it have a pistol grip? Does the barrel look long, or is it a short barrel? Does it have ghost ring sights or rifle sights? Is there a rail on the top of the receiver?
