I've been using mine for about a week now and I have not noticed any issues. the edges of the shell holder don't seem sharp, so maybe any issues have been resolved in the new version.

Not bad at all, and the shells fit in the carrier perfectly.

Received the Sidearmor rail today and just installed. Installation was easy, all tools and Loctite were provided. The quality and fit are outstanding, I'm very happy with it. I bought this Aimpoint over a year ago to install in a LaRue mount and I was finally able to complete!

I see bids on one for $400 and bids on another for $500. I think $300 is too low, seems like $450 is the average right now with time pending on the auction.

You bet! I have been waiting for a rail for a long time. Not only does this solve the mil-spec rail issue, but its got a great carrier as well. I'm very excited to finally mount my T1 w/ LaRue, I cant wait to sight it in.

I called Sidearmor today and they just released a mil spec rail for the M4!! I was looking for just a rail, but I wonder if this is a better option with the shell carrier? Check this out, this is without attachments: With attachments:

I emailed Sidearmor not too long ago and they didn't mention anything about making a stand-alone top rail for the M4. I was really counting on Kip's rail as well, but from the pictures he posted it looks pretty bad. My T1 is collecting dust as well, if you find anything out please let me know.

Do the Military use a different rail, or are they mounting anything custom made for this out of spec rail?

I don't think you need to get a T1 sight, most tactical courses I have been to dont really recomend them.
