  1. Yes the baddest looking Benelli on the planet. Thanks to the following. George at Benelli- Thanks for helping me with my cause Tom Knapp- The reason I shoot Benelli's Tim Bradley- Not a better guy out there. Thanks for being a friend or at least me being a fan Zach Kienbaum and Brad Kidd- Thanks for being awesome friends and kicking me in my rear to reach my goals Anthony Materese Jr.- Thanks for being a great coach and instructor and teaching me how to shoot this dang thing Ken at RockNroll Paint works- Your work at rock N Roll custom paint works is ridiculous Steve at Briley- Thanks for taking the time to make the trigger "the best it can be" Mike Lupold of S&S Gunstocks for working on this bad boy and fitting me and making it right. He did so much work, filling in the checkering, lenghthening, fitting my trigger hand better to the grip watching me cringe when he was wacking away all with his big smile. He made it so it would fit. I had all the work done while at an event. I shot my stock gun with Comfortech the first day and shot a 79. He did the work that night and next morning. Just how good was the fit? I gained 8 birds first time out with it that day. It was enough to win the A class by a bird that day. Enjoy!!! Benelli Supersport w/ 30 inch barrel Briley 6 oz weight in front and Secret style 4oz weight in rear (8.5lb total weight Comp N Chokes Briley Trigger job 15 1/4 LOP- Stock length stock with additional spacer by S&S Gunstocks Packmayr Sporting clay SC100 butt pad Everything else is stock From the front Side Shot More picture to come! Enjoy!!!!
  2. Uh.... Benelli site... Benelli fans ='s How about keeping it in the family and getting a Franchi Renissance Sporting. Right at 2k and O/U with an adjustable comb and cool look.
  3. Happened to mine too. Contacted Benelli. Will not at all affect the choke or harm anything shooting it like that. If anything it may gunk up faster. They will warranty it. They did mine. In my case they even sent me a choke up front so I could keep shooting. Good Luck! CR
  4. check here at http://www.e-gunparts.com/dept.asp or here at http://www.brownells.com/ Either one of these places should have the exact part. Benelli will be re-doing their store site and I was told they will be expanding the store to have all the the items shown in the catalog. CR
  5. I use both of these items on my gun. I started out with the gun seal and then if Raining I then throw down some of the Gun Dri out in the field. NOT ONE ISSUE. Where I live there is a lot of salt brush so and you are plowing through it or swinging through it when shooting. These two items work wonders on gun barrels and metal components that are around bad conditions. http://www.gunslick.com/products/chemicals/rust_protectants.aspx Good luck! CR
  6. Vigilant06, You can try http://www.gunbroker.com/ or http://www.pacificsportingarms.com/ Both should have them for sale. Not sure where you live but Sportsman's Warehouse carries them too. I got all my Benelli's through them. CR
  7. Brownell's has them on line. Be prepared to spend around $80 bucks. My local club sells them for a little less but it is what it is. A lot of people will say that is expensive but think about how much it would cost to have a gun shortened and a good pad added if it were wood. Anyway, Benelli Customer Service could help you also if you don't go through Brownell's. CR
  8. Also, I you want to supe it up a little you may want to contact someone like Montana Long Guns. they are a stock builder and are freaking EXCELLENT! They might beable to do something that is custom and even cooler than the Ultralite wood. CR
  9. Call Benelli and ask and they should point you in the right direction. They have sold me an item once that was extremly hard to find and not on their store site OR they will push you off to Brownell's which does a great job at Benelli parts. CR
  10. I have a full set of Crio chokes from my Supersport. They are extended and have the threads at the end of the barrel. They pattern good. I have had them checked on the sizes and this is how they measure out so if you are interested let me know. I know that is not what you want from your e-mail but they pattern better than the stock non crio chokes they make Cylinder- .000 (measures like it is supposed to) Improved Cylinder- .009 (supposed to be .010) Modified- .022 (supposed to be .020) Improved modified--.030 (supposed to be .025) Full- .040 (supposed to be .035) They are off a bunch but work well with what I shoot through them. If interested let me know. CR
  11. This to me looks like a hot forging surface. I would bet money on it. If it was a cold forged piece but the starting stock of metal was hot forged then you could get the same thing. You see this often in forging processes and unless you machine or hand finish them you can get this. My SS bolt has this finish on it but the front area that goes up against the shell is Super smooth (hense the machine finish). My wife's monte has this a little more Anyway, this is normal and Unless something cracks or fails it will be ALL GOOD! CR
  12. Nervermind, My other post didn't get erased. I just relized that you posted in two places on the forum. You can read both....Ha, ha... They say the same thing. Chad
  13. Not sure why my last post got erased. Tucker has great advice. I would totally dissasemble the gun and degrease and re-lube with a light lube like Gunslick or the stuff that comes with the gun. Make sure there are no burs in the rails. Cycle it by hand and if feels smooth then I would say it is possible the ammo you are using. Make sure you break in the gun if it is new with the heaviest loads you can find. That gun can shoot a big load. 1 1/4 oz 3.5 at 1550FPS would do the trick. I would shoot 2-3 boxes to break the gun in prior to going down to lower FPS or ounce size. I am in SO Cal and if you are also, PM me and I would love to meet at a local range to shoot with you. Maybe it is something obvious that you overlooked or didn't catch. Benelli's are a piece of cake to clean and dissasemble. If that doesn't work then Customer Service is the way to go. It is hunting season so they may be a little busy. Just a thought. Hopefully this time this will not be erased. CR
  14. I have seen Tom Knapp and Tim Bradley shoot their SBEII's with one hand. The whole holding tight has some merit but not the be all end all. If he wasn't holding the gun tight with that big of shell he is going to get a pounding. The gun needs to be truly degreased and clean. I use Gunslick stuff, Ultra-Klenz and then their oil on everything. Make sure there are no burs in the rails that the bolt slides on that could slow it down. Cylce by hand. If it feels smooth then my though unless something was faulty would be the shells. Benelli's don't like some shells. I personally have not found any that don't work in my Supersport or my wifes Montefeltro. Use a shell that is at least 1 1/8 oz at 1200fps. I can shoot down to 7/8oz loads in my SS but have been told that the clay model like my gun has a lighter recoil spring compared to the Field models. Makes sense in the SBEII since it can shoot a 3.5 oz monster load. Cycle that bad boy with some good hi quality ammo that is the biggest you can find at a high FPS like 1550fps. This will help "Break in" the gun. Shoot 3 or 4 boxes. From there clean and lube again and try your lighter loads. Most likely it will work UNLESS there is something really wrong with the gun. And if that is the case do what Tucker said and call Customer Service. They are a great group of men and women that can help you. CR P.S. If you are in SO California, PM me and maybe we can meet at a local range and I can give it a look see and maybe help you. Benelli's are a piece of cake and if they have a flaw it is usually able to be seen. Don't worry I would not do anything to the gun that would void the warranty. It may be a simple fix that you are not seeing.
  15. I just Checked my files (I keep a spread sheet of what exactly goes through our guns). She has shot 200 rounds of the Walmart promo 4 packs in 7/8 oz 1200fps #8 shot. She also shot 100 rounds (4 pack) of the Remington Walmart loads in the same size and shot. Paid under $20 per 4 pack minus tax. NOT ONE failure to cycle. So that answers the fact that the Monte can cycle that stuff too. I got to thinking, if your gun is new then did you ever break it in with some heavy stuff? If not you should. CR
  16. Rooster Man, My wife owns the Benelli Montefeltro 20g. She has now just past the 2k mark of rounds through the gun. Like you said it is a sweet gun and she absolutely LOVES it. So much she wants to get another Benelli in 12g but instead of another Montefeltro she is going to buy the Ultra Light. Ok, I said 2k worth of rounds. She has shot as low as 1135 FPS in 7/8 oz all the way up to 1 1/8 oz 1385fps Waterfowl loads to break it in. For about 90% of the rounds she has shot they have been 7/8 oz 1200fps or 1250fps 2 3/4 inch #7/5 and #8 shot in the FIOCCHI brand. She has NOT had one malfuntion of cycling to date. She is 5'2 and 96lbs and I had her stock cut to 12.5 inch for the LOP with a Packmyr decelerator pad. The gun can and will cycle 7/8 oz loads. We did however run 3 boxes of the heavy stuff I mentioned above prior to going to all the other ammo. That heavy stuff was Federal ammo. The two boxes of the really light 1135fps stuff I mentioned were Remington STS Target loads. Make sure you clean the gun if it was new really good with something like Nu-Gun from Gunslick. Make sure you either use the lube that Benelli sends with it or like the Gunslick lube on the rails, bolt mechanism and a drip on the plunger area (Recoil spring). I would even take apart the bolt assembly and clean it with somthing like Ultra-Klenz from Gunslick. Anyway, YES I like gunslick but I love their product. Stay away from the gun flush as it is a bit harsh and can take paint off. i had some and the little red dot on the magazine shut off came off. Oh well! It should work and if it still doesn't then call customer service. CR
  17. Not that this is anything like killing a duck, we have at one of my local ranges a 100yrd Crosser clay that I have seen guys it and not just break the clay but expode it. That is with 2 3/4 1 1/8 oz 1300fps lead Remington shells. But with steel I don't see that the pellets even if they were BB's would have enough umfff to handle a bird. Just a thought from the lonely clay shooter. CR
  18. I have a Supersport which is a shiny version of the Cordoba. I shot 75 shells of the heaviest Magnums I could find when I bought it to break it in along with cleaning it really good and lubing it with a light lube like the stuff Benelli sends with the gun. I have found that if you keep the FPS at 1200 or higher you can shoot whatever you want. I shot just over 1500 rounds of 7/8 oz 1200fps #8's out of my gun before cleaning it just to see what it would do and it NEVER failed or hung up. I wiped it down with a towel after shooting an that was it. I have over 10k of shells through my gun since January 1 when I got it. After some of my stints of testing shells I now shoot exclusively 1 oz stuff now and probably 7000-7500 of the rounds I have shot are 1 oz. I shoot sporting clays and run 1 oz 1300fps #8 and #7.5 FIOCCHI's. Keep it above 1200fps and you can shoot whatever is out there. CR
  19. S.A Man, Personally I like #8's with the mod choke in the gun. You have more pellots, tighter pattern and if you miss it is easier to see why. If I back up on the Trap Yardage line then I may pop in 7 1/2 with the Mod Choke. I started out with the IC choke and could score ok but the clays would chip and split and it was really hard to see where I was shooting. With the Mod when I hit a target it blows up, PERIOD! If I chip with the mod choke or miss then I can easily see it and make the proper adjustment. timb99 has good suggestions even going tighter as you get better. The other thing I do is shoot Premium loads. I shoot FIOCCHI 1 oz, #8 shot at 1250-1300FPS depending on the day. I like higher FPS shot because of the perception that the lead is less. When I go down in FPS man sometimes it feels like it takes forever for the shot to get to the target and I don't like lobbing shot out there. I want some power, force and less time between the trigger pull and the target breaking. Although patterning is needed and I have done that when I started I figured if I used premium stuff in my gun the pattern would be already good and after patterning my gun I was right and it was good. Hope that helps. CR
  20. If you pull the limit plug out of it the gun will hold 4 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber. That is 5 shots. That seems pretty good to me. That is the reason Tom Knapp and Tim Bradley use M2's because they have extension tubes available for them so they can hold up to 12 shots. Anyway, the SS was designed as a clay gun so most likely why it is hard to get extensions to work. Last time I checked it is against the rules to have more than 2 shots in the gun at the majority of clubs. If hunting it would be nice to "LOAD HER UP" though. Good luck. CR
  21. Brutas, Yep, the advice above is the right stuff. Shoot HEAVY stuff. When we all say heavy we are talking 1 1/4oz shot, 3 or3 1/2 magnums at 1550 style stuff. I broke my SS in this way and shot 62 rounds through mine before going to the light stuff. Clean it too as said above before even taking it out. Re-lube it good. The confusing thing is we all on here have our opinions on what to use for cleaners and lubes. I use Gunslick stuff and love it. What most of us agree on is not to use oils that gum up in different tempuratures or attract a lot of dirt. REM Oil seems to be one in Benellis that isn't so good. Whatever you use keep it light and thin. You got a bottle of factory lube with the gun and it is super good stuff. I was able to get a cleaning kit for around $20 bucks for just a 12g through gunslick. They make a 20/12g kit for about $35. Good kits that can go with you to the field and have a good sampling of everything you need for cleaning. Anyway, good luck and have fun and for gods sakes be safe. CR
  22. Just get the extended Crio Chokes that fit your gun. The Crio Technology keeps the metal smoother and less build up. At least that is my experience. They pattern well are a little cheaper than the after market stuff. Briley can't be beat though. CR
  23. I don't own a SBEII but I do have a Supersport w/ Comfortech. I have been able to shoot tons of 7/8oz loads out of my gun and have heard the same for guys/gals with SBEII's. I don't think oz size is what matters. It is the FPS. If you keep it above 1200fps the gun should cycle just fine. I have shot as low as 1145fps with mine and so have others but I have heard once you drop below 1200fps it is a gamble whether it will cycle especially if dirty. I like 1250 or better 1300fps 1oz loads in #8. Love that stuff. Works great and NEVER had a jam. I only have about 6.5K of rounds through my gun so far. Good luck. CR
  24. Nice Post Mudhen, I would like to further talk about what Tim and Tom use. They have both told me that they shoot below the minium load requirements that are recommended by Benelli but in their words with no other people around and no bullcrapping me they have both said "why though, if the gun makes the minimum load feel smaller than it is and I can get more payload out there then why not have the extra insurance". These guys may get paid by Benelli but two things, Tom shot Benelli's before being paid by them. Tim Shot a Beretta and got good money from them and told me he likes the Benelli much better. Tim even said before Benelli's he hated synthetic stocks because of vibrations he felt when shooting. He says with the Comfortech that he doesn't get that anymore. Dude, I cannot tell you why their guns work flawlessly when they are that dirty. Maybe it is because they started out right with them in the first place. Tom on 2 occasions told me that there are times that he just shows up and the rep gets a local dealer to supply the guns. These are STOCK. He told me he puts a magazine in them and lets it rip and starts his shows. I damn near disasembled Tims guns at the last show after everyone was gone and really looked at them. Well oiled with lube he uses (Pro Shot), very dirty, no mods except for No choke in the gun from the factory. Yep, no choke and #9 shot, BOOM!!! Anyway, the oil was as about as thin as the stuff from the factory in the case. Lets take me. By the way my SS is a 12g. I shot 3 inch magnums in #6 shot, 1 1/4 oz, 1550fps, 3 1/4 dram and yes it kicked like a mule but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't get through 75 of them (3 rounds of trap) in one session and then switch emmediately to 7/8oz, 1200fps #8 shot for 500 rounds the next day with not much soreness. More like tired from shooting so much but that was it. Yes I had shorts and a T-shirt on too (not sure why it matters about the shorts but I had them). Do I personally think Comfortech works, YES! Even after spending a couple days at the range shooting a 391 on one day and then the new Extrema the next to check them out. I still felt that the thump but that same thump felt best with my SS with Comfortech. The overall thump was about the same but each gun drove that thump differently into my shoulder. Again, I still liked the feel of the SS better. Again, this is my opinion. I read on sites and articles that MANY people do like the Comfortech. I also see many posts about how people hate it because I think they thought the Comfortech would make the gun feel like a .22. Another thing Mudhen pointed out is the Benelli testing does not mention other manufactures guns. What if what they say is true and they are testing it against a gun like Beretta and that is the company that owns them. It would look fishy, eh? What they do however in many cases is compare to other Benelli guns like the SBE without Comfortech. It is all good, by the way, my wife who is 5'2 and 96lbs shoots the wood Montefeltro 20g. She has shot over 2k of rounds through it and has shot pumps, o/u's and a 391 and thinks hers is the softest out of all them. Again, I am not pulling the trigger but the gun is Sub 5.4 lbs and no complaints from her. Lastly, the gun shot in the article was a 20g Cordoba but that dude put a TON of rounds through it on his trip. 12g or 20g it does not matter. That is a lot of shooting. He had his own way of doing the tests resulting in his own personal #'s which still shows that the system worked. Mudhen, Don't be too harsh on the Montuckian. I am one also and he lives no where near where the Unibomber was. How do I know? They caught the dude less than 15miles from my parents ranch I grew up at. Dude was so close to us. Luckily we never ran into him while hunting or fishing. CR
  25. My point was that this guy felt a difference that the comfortech made. Whether light loads or not (he used a 20g Cordoba) he shot a TON and said it work. I agree with his statements because of what I have personally felt. So lets talk about Tom for a second. The loads that he and Tim use are Federal Premium 1 1/8 oz, 2 3/4 length, 3 dram, 1200fps #9shot. I know, because I have asked and kept one of the box tops and shells from a show. That is the standard recommended load from Benelli. He does just build and go but he also has brought his own guns. I went to Tim's show here in Norco a couple of weeks ago. The guns he was using were his. They were HAMMERED and SUPER dirty. No failures except for a mag feeding issue with his SBEII with an extended mag. He had to stretch and put another spring (total of two) to get the shells to push into the chamber. He would get 4-5 shots out and the spring was week and not pushing the shells. 2nd day no issue with double springs. Again, not the actual guns fault. Aftermarket part was the fault Did I say DIRTY!!! Yes, dirty, hammered, beat on, filthy and they worked great. My SS came out of the box. I shot exactly 62 big loads in my gun and proceeded to shoot over 500 7/8 oz loads with zero issue as I have stated in the past. Cleaning them from the factory is standard and it happens with all kinds of products. My coffee pot said to run a pot of water through it before brewing coffee. Could I have started out of the box with coffee, I am sure you can but why take a chance. New cars come off the lot, you are supposed to break them in at different speeds and not go over certain RPM's and speed for the first 500 miles. You are also supposed to change the oil sooner than normal for any shavings or deposits to be flushed. Do people do it? No! Some never have a problem. Some do and then wonder???? Why not do it right and get long lasting results. The article didn't seem biased to Benelli as he was straight up with not agreeing with the #'s but felt that the system works. In the end it is up to YOU AND ME to make our own decisions. Remember this... One mans trash may be another mans treasure. Simple words and the truth in shotgunning. A gun I love you may hate or vise versa. Loads, colors, chokes, FPS #'s, Shooting styles all have to do with our own opinions. Again what works for you may not work for me. Another simple word. K.I.S.S. OR Keep It Simple Stupid. I use that one all the time for myself. When too much thinking goes into something or whatever I tell myself that. It works. I will use that now! CR
