  1. Liberty, I have shot an extrema and those things feel like tanks and are bulky feeling. The one I shot was new and the bolt was WAY harder to pull back than the SBEII I shot. I shot only 1 1/8 loads and maybe it was the fit but the Benelli was softer. As far as the article. It wasn't from Benelli and this editor tested it his own way. He thought maybe the #'s were not as high as Benelli claims but he still felt that the comfortech works. Anyway, read the article. It was interesting. I totally like the high end Benelli's over the High end Beretta's. But then again opinions are like ____holes, we all got them. CR
  2. Awsome article that seemed like it is saying what I have been preaching what I feel with my comfortech. This is NOT Benelli Marketing folks. Now what do all you people that say Comfortech is a marketing scam think. You going to bag on him for not shooting enough or do you see the light? I know I see the light. I feel it every time I shoot. Yep, smooth and no punch. 500 rounds on Saturday and no pain, no vest and just my SS with Comfortech, BOOOM!!! Enough said!!! CR
  3. Buck_uncle, Still confused of what you want but I think I am getting it. First, get a gun with Comfortech. It distributes the recoil. You will still get the punch but it will be distributed more evenly. Check out this months American Rifleman from the NRA. They did a deal on the Comfortech and since the testing was not from Benelli you will be suprised what you read. Yes, it works boys. They also talk alot about the "cheek slap" thing. The comfortech has the comb pad that is the same medical material. It will eliminate your harsh cheek slap. Next thing is gun. It seems you want a high rib. Montefeltro, M2 and SBEII are all standard low versions. The Cordoba has a high 10mm Sporting rib but the gun has comfortech and the hunting colors and all the bells and whistles of a clays gun. I think this is what you are looking for and they are not much more than the SBEII. Whether it is a Super Nova, M2, Cordoba, SS make sure you get the comfortech. Not sure what else to tell you. My wife LOVE's her Montefeltro but then hers fits her. Maybe still you should have that gun fitted. Add some weight and maye a aftermarket recoil reducer and leave it be. Put a Easy hit or something on the rib. It might help your site picture. Get it adjusted, do something and let us know. CR.
  4. Buck_uncle, If you actually load a Montefeltro (My wife has one) the bolt is NOT locked into place when the shell is in the chamber. Yes, the bolt head has to rotate and lock onto the shell but if you just pull on the bolt lever the mechanism moves. This is unlike a pump gun. When you cock a pump gun the bolt mechanism is locked into place and it has ZERO movement when the shell is fired, hence for pump guns Benelli did things like a Mercery recoil reducer for the Nova or for the Super Nova they added the Comfortech and weight because the bolt doesn't move causing you to feel the full recoil. Just pick up all the guns. You can always get the gun fitted (getting the stock cut if too long) or since the gun comes with a shim kit you can adjust the cast and drop. Anyway, when we talk about fit we do not mean that you just pick a gun up and it fits perfect. Guns are built around a standard body frame. There is not too many guns that you can just pick up and shoot without some type of adjustments. Now, as far as feel that is different. Even though the gun may not fit exact you will know if it good for you based off feel. It may swing smooth, may not be bulky or is bulky enough and when you pick it up you are like "man this is right". I did that with my SS, my wife did it with her Montefeltro. I still needed to use the shim kits for both our guns to get the drop and cast right. I also had to have my wife fitted and the stock cut. SO, in the end what you may want to do if you want a hunting gun but a gun you can use for hand thrown clays is maybe step into the M2. It has comfortech, Recoil spring, moving bolt and can shoot it all. What is cool about this gun or any gun with Comfortech is that you can get the different sized gel pads to reduce or lengthen your pull without having to cut the stock or whatever. You can also get gel pieces to raise the comb if you want. That is my opinion. Good luck and have fun. I shot a Super Nova over the weekend. Nice gun. Sure like the sound of a pump gun. CR
  5. I have shot a Stoeger Condor and I actually liked it. I shot 750+ rounds through my father-n-laws and ZERO problems. With that being said I can also see that if you were serious about clays you might wear it out fast but for the price, why not? I would seriously look at the Condor Competition. Under $700, good wood, Ported, extended chokes, Adjustable comb and so on. It doesn't have all the engraving but is a nice gun. I would buy this gun in a second if I actually wanted a o/u. Either this one or step up to the Franchi Renaisance Sporting gun if you want to stay in the Benelli family. This gun is GOOD! I have shot this gun too with no hi-cups. CR
  6. The two guns are identical except for cosmetics. The Cordoba comes in Max 4 camo or Matte Black with grip tight texture to work in wet weather. Other than that both the SS and Cordoba are the same. I only shoot clays at the moment. I got the SS w/ Comfortech. I like the carbon shiny look. I will hunt with this gun if needed but I don't want to drag it around int he mud so I most likely will get a M2 or a Cordoba in the Black or Camo color for hunting. Will the gun hold up? I got 6k+ rounds my gun since January and not one failure, malfunction or anything. CR
  7. Buck_Uncle, Not sure what you are saying but the Montefeltro does have recoil reducing feature. First it has a recoil spring in the stock. The bolt actually moves. Although this is not exactly like the comfortech or what have you it is something that moves in the gun that will reduce recoil. As far as the Super Nova, it is a pump gun, the bolt area is fixed once the pump is cocked. There is zero movement in this mechanizm. Yes there is Comfortech which does help in my opinion but in my mind about the same as the the bolt movement in the Semi Auto gun. It still comes down to fit and possibly how you are holding it. The Montefeltro is a LIGHT gun so if you are super sensitive and shoot huge loads then maybe I could see what you are talking about with recoil but it still comes down to fit. As far as what you are shooting, you still haven't said exactly what you want the gun for but I will say this, a pump gun is definitely a disadvantage at the clay course compared to an O/U or Auto. YES, you can become proficient and do ok but never be at the top with a pump. Just a thought. You may be right maybe the Benelli line doesn't fit you. That is why there is the Stoeger and Franchi line to look at or even the parent company Beretta. Good luck, pick the guns up and feel them and shoot them if you can. Good luck.
  8. I agree with Charles that the Montefeltro is a Rad gun. My wife love's hers. But as far as a pure Clays gun for the Money I also feel the SS w/ comfortech is the best clays gun. It has all the bells and whistles and compared to the starting point clays o/u guns go for it is a hair cheaper. 7th place yesterday in the D class. 74/100. Five months shooting and only 5 events under my belt. Last month that would of won the event but this month a 86 won the event. I am super happy with my scores and I LOVE THIS GUN!!! CR
  9. Buck_uncle, First I am REALLY surprised that your Montefeltro kicks more than the Super Nova. There is ZERO recoil mechanism in the Nova that has me thinking one thing. Your Montefeltro does not fit you. Fit is #1 reason that a gun will kick a person. Weight makes a difference too along with load size but even if you have a heavy gun and light loads, if it doesn't fit then it will kick. As far as going to a SBEII. Great gun but if you are looking for a gun with a high rib then that is not the gun to get. You need to ask what you will do with the gun. Hunt or clays or both? If both what % of each will you do. That will help. IF money is not an object and you like Benelli and you do both hunting and clays you WILL NOT find a better gun then the Cordoba. It comes in the hunting colors or matte black with the grip tight BUT it has all the bells and whistles of a clay gun, porting, High 10mm Sporting rib, extended chokes and so on. This gun is based off the Supersport w/comfortech that is cosmetically designed for clays only. You need to look at this gun, seriously. In my opinion the best all round gun you can buy out of ANY brand. I have the SS because I only shoot clays and like the shiny features. Although this gun can only go up to 3 inch shells unlike the SBEII but there is not many animals that you need 3 1/2 shells for. 3 inch magnums do plenty good job. The weight thing is fine, again it comes down to fit. Example, my wife, 5'2 96lbs, has a Montefeltro. Had her fitted and she says that her gun kicks less then any gun she has ever shot. Her gun is 5.4 lbs. Light weight and no kick. It is a dream to shoot with her because she doesn't complain about the weight or recoil. CR
  10. Clayduster, You will LOVE that gun. Like AdamoM2 said, let us know how you like it. CR
  11. Clayduster, The Supersport and Cordoba are the exact same gun except the SS has a finish that is shiny and fits in the world of Clays a little better. The Cordoba has all the same stuff but additionally it has color and texture options. You can get it in Max 4-HD Camo or matte black synthetic with Grip Tight which works wonders in the wet weather. I bought an SS because I shoot Mainly clays. I will also hunt with this gun. I have seen Tom Knapp on his show hunt a lot with his SS. Yes it is shiny but it seems to work well. I have shot everything from 3 inch mags down to 7/8oz sporting loads. I have over 6k in mine since January and not one jam or failure. It is definitely a sturdy and durable gun. I think the only drawback to my SS is that it is shiny and has a 30 inch barrel which in the Duck blind a Black or Camo gun with a 26 or 28 would be a little easier to handle. Maybe that is just enough to warrant me to get the Cordoba in Camo or the Matte Black with Grip Tight for hunting. This way I can keep my SS all pretty for clays competitions. In MY opinion the Cordoba is the best all around gun you can buy. It works VERY well on the clays course and has all the bells and whistles of the SS clay gun and would work just as good in that arena too. CR
  12. Cordoba! Cordoba! Cordoba! 1. Comfortech- you can change to different size comb pads and butt pads 2. Five EXTENDED chokes- no tools needed to take out 3. Crio Barrels and Chokes-smoother metal/easier to clean 4. Ported barrel- Muzzle jump, clay competitors use this. Works well, maybe not in a blind, ha, ha. 5. Inertia Driven- Easier to clean 6. Carry case 7. Grip tight on the forend and stock. Great in wet weather. 8. 10mm sporting rib. Favored by clay competitors 9. Hunting colors-matte black or Max4 camo 10. Lighter and less bulkier than the Extrema My 10 reasons to buy this gun. I think personally this is the best all around gun. Great hunting gun and great clay gun. I have the SS. Same gun but will be awful shiny in the blind. Oh well. Gives me a good reason to either buy the Cordoba or and M2. CR
  13. Also, the 28 inch model will fit perfectly in the 52 inch Kalispel Gun Case. I have a 30 inch SS and to make it fit in the case I have to remove the butt pad or the extended choke. Just about a 1 inch too short. My wife's montefeltro 26 inch fits right under mind with no dissasembly. I bought the case for Air travel. Kicks a lot of butt. My future M2 will fit perfectly.
  14. Vinceboy, SO LAME DUDE!! Why come on here and spew negativity. Is it because you don't know how to work on your gun. If you hate Benelli then go and shoot another gun and walk away from the site. But if you like Benelli then why not be positve and TRY to help people. You wonder why new people walk away from Shooting? When people like you discourage people. Man we got to stick together as shooters as they amount of us is not as much as it use to be. Did you know that the average age of shooters is 49 and has risen steadily over the last ten years. DUH! Ok now that I am done ranting let me try to be positive for this person and his SS. AdamoM2, You got yourself a sweet gun. I own a 12g SS w/comfortech and have shot over 6k now of rounds through it since January 9th when I picked it up with only one failure. It was NOT THE GUN. It ejected a shell and pulled the brass from the hull and the hull stayed in the barrel. Bad shell NOT GUN. Ok, Tips to break the gun in. #1- take the gun apart and degrease and re-lube the gun. I use Gunslick stuff. I used Nu-gun to degrease it and the Ultra lube to lube it. Make sure you get the rails and the rotating bolt head. Run a patch in the barrel and you are ready to go. I dry cycled my gun by just pulled the lever back and forth to make sure nothing was hanging up. You are ready to shoot. #2-Shoot the biggest load you can find and shoot 3-4 boxes of it. I shot Federal Premium 1 1/4oz, 1550fps, #6 shot 3 inch magnums. #3- After that I took it apart again and wiped it down and re-lubed it again. It was then ready to go. From there I have shot just about every thing through it. I have heard not to shoot anything under 1200fps. I have shot as low as 7/8oz, 1200pfs loads(600 in one day), I even shot in a tournament 1 1/8 oz at 1145fps (150 of them). I mainly shoot FIOCCHI Premium stuff. Why not, expensive gun is like an expensive car. I use premium in those so why not feed the gun with better ammo. I know there is all kinds of good stuff out there. I have shot tons of the Walmart promo stuff in Remington and Federal but I have better times with the FIOCCHI for me because of how clean it is and I like the purple hulls, ha, ha. I have heard however that some Ammo Benelli's just don't like so it is an experiment sort to say for you. My wife has a 20g Montefeltro and just about the same amount of rounds through hers and she hasn't had a failure yet either. I love the speed of which it takes to clean these guns and for me and my wife I cannot and will not shoot another brand of Shotgun. I hope this helps you with your SS issues. I know that nothing is perfect and there is a chance that there may be something actually wrong wih the gun and IF there is I know for a fact that the Benelli Customer Service can handle your issue. George Thompson over there is the MAN in Customer service but all of them are over there. On a lighter note. I got to go to Mike Raahauge's out here in the West Coast. There was a Shooting Fair. I had the Privelage to watch Benelli's Tim Bradley do a show. That guy is AWESOME. It was really windy and he wasn't able to get passed the 7 clay mark as the wind was holding the clays together or blowing them all over when he threw them. He was awesome and HUMBLE (did you hear that Patrick Flanigan!?), YES HUMBLE even when he miss which he did a few times. Let me tell you all something. I have not met person YET in a position like this that was that nice or friendly. He even stayed more than an hour after the show answering people's questions and so forth. Great guy and Benelli did really well by getting him to enhance Tom's deal. The only thing better would be to have Tom there as he is just as nice and humble. Those two together would be a riot. On another note, his guns were BEAT. I have seen dirty guns but with as much travel as he does I can see how they get hammered. He had a SBE II, M2 Left handed and M2 right handed. He shot well over 125 rounds total easy and never had a ejection failure. On another note becaus I remember on here somewhere else that people were talking about trick shooting and choke and shot sizes. Well I thought you would need to run a tighter choke so when doing 7 plus clays you don't hit more than one clay at a time. Well I learned something. Tim shoots a full OPEN choke with Federal Premium, 1 1/8oz, 3 dram, 1200fps, #9 shot. Yep, what I thought was not true. I guess because his shots are within Skeet distance he shoots full open. Learn something everyday. I have video of his show and pictures but I am lame and don't know how to post. When I do I will post them. Have a great day. CR
  15. That is why you guys rule. I like Liberty since he is a Montana boy like myself. Liberty, Where at in Montana you from. I am from the Kalispel area. Tucker, You are right about the manual. I guess what confuses me is instead of going off the Dram size I have always gone off the FPS rating. I have found that keeping whatever you run above 1200fps there is not a problem. I don't know a lot about shells and although I have gone down to 7/8 oz loads and FPS's as low as 1145 althought I try to keep it above that. What is your take on that. Should you really go off Dram #'s or the FPS #'s or are they one in the same? As far as Tom shooting. I posted a video on here with him and Tim Bradley shooting where they will shoot the gun upside down and then flip it and shoot it again. They seem like they are holding the gun more loosely than "tight". If the load is strong enough it really shouldn't matter, should it. Check it out. Lastly, just got the New Duck Commander 10 "For a Few Ducks More". These guys RULE!!! And they shoot the Benelli's. These guys are hardcore and it was nice to never see a failure with any of the guns in the show. I am sure it was edited if they did but still cool doing the multiple shots and no mishaps. Anyway, Tucker, like I said you rule and have a LOT of good info but I still say Inertia is better than gas..... CR
  16. Liberty and Tucker I know I will hear it for this but your statements about the SBEII and shooting 3/4 inch isn't true. Benelli's customer service doesn't say it will not work, event the owners manual doesn't say that. Bottom line, Boo is to break the gun in. #1. Clean the gun with degreaser and re-lube with light oil #2. Find some HOT shells. I broke mine in with 3 1/4 oz #6 at 1500fps 3 1/4 dram magnums. #2a. As much as it may suck shoot 3-4 boxes of these shells. Basically shoot the biggest hot rods you can find. #3. Take the gun apart and disassemble it and degrease and clean and lightly lube again. From there you should be able to shoot anything from promo Wally World stuff all the way down to 7/8 stuff. I shot over 750 rounds of 7/8 oz 2 3/4 length, 2 3/4 dram, 1200fps at #8 and NEVER had a hiccup. I even have cycled some 1 1/8 oz, 2 3/4 dram at 1145fps in #8 with no problem. I shot over 200 of those in a tournament with no malfunctions. Tom shoots light stuff too. Mr. Liberty. You say Tom learned how to hold his gun so it works. Holding a gun upside down doing multiple shots, flipping it shooting some more and then going behind the back does not require a "proper" way of holding it. The only thing they have to learn is hitting the target in those positions. Oh buy the way Liberty, he USED to shoot and M1 which is in the Cody museum. He shoots an M2 for his shows, Supersport II or a Supersport w/ comfortech on his shows. How do I know, I asked and he told me. Even their new shooter Tim Bradley shoots an M2 in his shows. Tim and Tom also told me in some cases the local dealer or rep provides the guns. Tom told me that he builds the guns and runs a magazine through the guns to get everybody's attention and then startst the shows. Boo, The ONLY thing that I have been told is that since the SBE II is a field gun it has a heavier recoil spring which can take a little longe to break in. I know Liberty rocks the house and knows a lot and Tucker has a million years of experience but to just tell you to turn around and buy a gas gun is HORSE CRAP! My Montefeltro, SS and SBE II works just fine with the light stuff. I am sure there is always something that can go wrong but I have seen just as many "GAS" guns fail too. Anyway, clean, lube, shoot big loads and write back and let us know if it works. CR
  17. I cannot type either. My post was awful, oh well I hope you get the point. CR
  18. My wife and I patterned our guns over the weekend. She has a Montefeltro and I have a Supersport. After re-adjusting the shims and changing our mount procedure as we shoot clays so we wanted to see how they shoot when we move N' mount like when we shoot Sporting. Well guess what before adjusting, hers was high left and mine was low right. We changed the shims around and BOOM!! damn newar 60/40 each time centered. We shot at 25yds. I have dealt with Benelli's customer service and they kick BUTT! In any case if you don't want the gun and depending on the specs of this gun I will buy it from you and do the leg work with Benelli and get anothe barrel and use the gun myself. Let me know. It amazes me how bent out of shape people get and when they take that attitude to the stores or Benelli they shut down mentally and get nothing accomplished. I work in a industry where the company I work for makes parts and you know what, we don't always get it right, but the majority of the time we do and on the times we won't we fix it. Benelli's CS is made of people just like me and you. Treat them right and not make it like it is personally their fault that you can't figure out how to shoot your gun or if it is actually your gun and blow up on them on line will get you now where. I about blew my coffee out when somebody mentioned "Have you had someone at the local range that is an expert shoot your gun?". That isn't that hard of a thing to figure out. ****, that would of been the first thing I did before I come unglued. When you reach your end of the rope, let me know and I will take the gun off your hands. I would love an M2. By the way my wife is 5'2 and 96lbs and not ONCE has she ever complained about the recoil on her Montefeltro. Funny how proper fit can make a bike difference. CR

    recoil

Yes they do MIX. Mix so well that I don't have to worry about the gun ever jamming or being too heavy or her complaining about the weight. MIX and MIX well my friend. CR

    recoil

I got my wife the 20g Montefeltro and had her fitted(stock adjusted and cut down). I put a Packmayr sporting clays pad on it and she says it is the lightest recoil gun she has shot to date. She has shot a 391, OU, pump, my SS and so on and loves her gun. I think fit is most important. By the way she is 96lbs and 5'2. Tiny women and the gun is awesome. CR
  21. In my opinion I would get the stock cut down and fitted with an aftermarket pad. Hopefully you will read this before buying the stock. I bought my wife a Montefeltro. They did not have the Short Stock Youth model in. I bought the adult model and had it cut down and fitted with a Packmayr recoil Sporting Clays pad. I got they shims too with different thicknesses so I could make the LOP longer or a little shorter depending on the time of year and what the wife wears. This process only cost me $85 dollars. When you buy that short stock I am not sure it comes with a pad but if it does then it will be just the stock on from the factory. I am telling you that you would be WAY better off cutting the adult one down, picking a GOOD aftermarket pad and you will save yourself a lot of money. Just remember, measure twice before cutting, ha, ha... Have a good gun fitter who know what they are doing do the work for you. My wife couldn't be happier. Just so you know she is 5'2 and 95lbs and loves this gun. Her's is the 20g. She shot 125 rounds through it on Saturday with ZERO malfunctions and no soreness. CR Chad

    Benelli vest

Vest made by extreme are $90+, MizMac are $90+(got one for the wife). I know there are cheaper ones and more expensive. If you can dish out the money for an SBEII or a SS then I don't think $90 vest is going to hurt you. Don't they say "Performance worth the price" or "Simply Perfect", ha, ha....
  23. dooderman

    Benelli vest

I was searching around on the Benelli site and went to the store section and BOOOOOM!!!! There it is a Benelli vest. FINALLY! The leather isn't full length and it isn't red like Tom Knapp's but it does look good. check it out http://www.benelliusa.com/gear2/index.php/action/item/id/190/prevaction/category/previd/8/prevstart/0/
  24. The easyhit uses adhesive to. I love mine like I said so it is all good. Use whatever will work for you. I do know people like Tucker have said they don't like those sights because they cannot see. Total personal choice
