  1. Has anyone used one of them special purpose choke tubes benelli makes. I was wondering if the turkey special crio choke patterned good?

If you can find one. Go for it. Aftermarket chokes are easier to find.

  2. Benelli: Supersport, Cordoba, Legacy Sport

    Beretta: Any 391.

Barrel length- Whatever fits you the best. For O/U's I like 28'' barrels. For Auto and Pumps, I like 26'' barrels.

As far as ammo, the Beretta's will cycle lighter ammo better than benelli's but both should cycle 1 1/8 3 gram or better with no problems.

Good luck, You chose a two great sports.

  3. 2 is 1, 1 is none.

    More is better.

    Bigger is better.

You can always not have enough ammo.

You can never have "too much" ammo (unless you are weaksauce and can't carry it all with you).

    That is why I own a semi-auto 12ga.

So your the one with all the ammo! :p Hey, leave some for us to buy.

  4. if you're so positive you're going to hit exactly what you're aiming at, why choose an 8-round shotgun over a 31-round AR-15 or, better yet, a 26-round AR-10?

I don't understand. If you going to hit what your aiming at then why do you need more than 1 round in the first place.

  5. Would a competent person who has successfully done this consider offering this as a service to others who do not wish to make the $$ investment in tools/material to do just 1 stock?

Obviously things *CAN* go wrong, so this would be a "good faith" arrangement of course.

If anyone is willing to offer this as a service, what would you charge? I think a tidy sum can be made doing this without ripping people off. You make cash, we get proper length M4 stocks, everyone is happy, noone gets jacked, and the world keeps spinnin'

    Anyone?

What kind of Tools would you need? Sandpaper, and a hand miterbox, and your time. Your talking 20 bucks. It will cost you that for shipping. Sorry, if I'm missing something. It look strait forward if your good at that sort of thing.

  6. Hmmm, well I'm a little lost now, I mean the club already has a bunch of 1100's and what I think are 391's....and I don't really like either that much. And I'm currently using my dad's Browning Citori which is alright, but I still feel like there is something better out there for me....maybe not. I guess I should rule out a Benelli then...that's too bad I was leaning in that direction.

    Dang...well now I'm completely lost.

I shoot for the University of Illinois...we don't go to many big tournements, but a few guys from the team went down to texas for the big one in San Antonio I think.

any1 have thoughts on the Browning Cynergy classic trap....doubt I could afford it, but it's the most beautiful o/u i've ever seen.

I do shoot skeet about 1/5 of the time too (and at all competitions) so maybe I should factor that in?

Thanks for the advice so far, keep it up.

Do you shoot at St. Jose sportmans club on Saturdays? I'm a member there. I'm 15 minutes from the U of I.

  7. I would go with a beretta 391. The 391 you can get for about a grand. Also for trap a shell catcher would be nice which you can't get for a benelli.(I think) It is gas operated and a bit heavier so recoil will be lighter.

As after as 20 gauge goes. You can break targets at the 20 yard line all day long with a Improved modified choke. Past that you will start to lose your shot pattern.

  8. Well...here in the south, IQ is lower, and obeisity is higher. I have not noticed a dental hygein trend, but would not be suprised if our dental hygein is worse than other geographic areas in the US, based on socio-economics and low IQ/poor health. but there is a confederate flag fixation by many white southerners.

I would say that statement is truer of the south than of anywhere else in the US.

As far as inbreeding, negative. I don't think there is a prevalence of that anywhere in the US that could be called geographic.

Thats the funniest thing I read all day.

  9. That's an awful big brush.

I hear you live in America. You all carry guns and shoot each other in the streets every day. It's the land of opportunity, but only if you're a smart enough crook to do your stealing within the loopholes of the laws.

I hear you have a Constitution that is supposed to protect people and insure their basic rights, but the government can ignore it and lock up 15 year olds indefinitely under the Patriot Act.

Don't forget the Freedom of speech, your favorite.

  10. Anyone use a field barrel mounted on a Nova Tacticle that has ghost ring sights. I was wondering how the rear ghost ring would work shooting a field length barrel. I would rather buy a barrel that a complete shotgun if you know where I'm coming from.

    Thanks...

    Rick

I'm going to guess and I will have to say no. Unless, the front bead will line up with the ghost ring sight. For wing shooting it will not be very affective anyway. Deer and turkey it would be OK.

  11. Kent Cartridge Ultimate Diamond Shot Turkey Shotshells (if those are what he's using) are readily available west of the Mississippi from Bass Pro Shops, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Sportsman’s Warehouse. Not sure about the east side.

I have only shot a couple of boxes of Kent Velocity through my Winchester 1400 and didn't do any worse than normal at the trap range but never patterned them purposely. The price on the Kent’s ($7.79) were about 30% higher than the Win Super-X ($5.99) I normally shoot so I haven't gone back to them since.

We "the people of Central Illinois" only have Kent products in Steel. They seemed high priced as well.

  12. Oops! You're right... I totally missed on that. Sorry Unobtanium. There's a trigger-pull I wish I had back! Sorry. Lordy, I have a Ph.D. BUT didn't read this carefully enough... I AM ashamed... please forgive.

Been so much "flaming" lately I had decided to declare war on it. Missed on this one. You are right-on with your posts!

Just one slap on the wrist for tonight.

  13. Not funny!! When will people learn?? Although there is no outright threat being made, one could possibly interpret the poster as threatning the CIC when you put guns next his likeness.

Before or after it grows. I didn't know he had a ''likeness'' about him at all.

  14. I did a pattern test at 30 yards....I had more consistant hits at that yardage....Looked in to the Winchester extended range loads, but it was only 1 oz compared to Kents 1 1/4....Price wise, the Kents I paid $8.00 for 10 shots and Winchesters was 3 times that for 10 shots....I figured if I can get him within 25 yards, should be able to drop him.... The Kent loads are Turkey Loads and are called Ultimate Diamond Shot...Guess we will find out this week......

Good luck. like you tested, 40 yards is max. for a 20 gauge.

  15. +1

Read the letter. The guy doesn't even know what an M4S90 IS or what parts comprise it, yet he has seen fit to publish a letter on the matter. That, in my mind, makes it a moronic move. Perhapse the man himself is NOT a moron and I spoke hastily, but the action was moronic.

Unless this man who published said letter is Duggan himself (I am reasonably sure he is not), my comment is in no-way directed at Duggan.

I referred to it as "Duggan's Letter" only in that Duggan posted it, not that it was sent to him or that he wrote it. I clearly differentiate between Duggan and the letter when I refer to "the person who wrote it" and not Duggan.

By the way, Great to have you back on the forum. You know your info well and have helped a bunch of people out. Not bad for a "tacticool" guy.

  16. I've recently purchased a Supernova. I've always believed that is was bad to dry fire. Now Im being told it's best to dry fire for storage to release spring tension. Does long term compression weaken the spring? Does dry firing damage the pin? Which is worst?

I've heard both. If your worried about it. Keep an empty hull around, pop the primer out, and stick and eraser in the primer hole. Or go get some snap caps. I don't think you can hurt the springs but someone else might. I leave my Novas Safety on, chamber open. Have since I owned them.

  17. Your "interpretation" is insulting to Duggan and some of us on the web. Why did you attack Duggan, a respected and contributing member of this web for a long time?... (for a lot longer than you have been here.) I have come to respect Duggan's contributions and hope he'll hang with us in the future.

I would suggest that you consider just laying your opinion out there, but maybe not doing personal attack stuff like this. Duggan probably DOES know his rear end from a hole in the ground I would think. Lighten up, Dude. Duggan was doing his best... where was yours?

Hey, Monty. I don't see where he is knocking Duggan. He's calling the guy that wrote the letter a moron.
